Not that I'm looking ahead but if we handle FB Marshall comfortably then I think we do the same to Brenham again. I don't think they'll cause us the matchup problems that Marshall could if they get the run game going or find a weak spot in our secondary to exploit. Marshall has given up 35, 48 and 63 points on defense at different times this year plus a bunch on yards to Santa Fe. As long as we play clean on the offensive side of the ball and on special teams I think Crosby making three or four defensive stops probably gets the W.

That's the formula for every game.

You are right about that.  I think the talk was very cordial but the everyday Crosby fan felt Ridge Point was going to be a win.  Crosby had to do more than show up but it was a win.  That was wrong.

I am more cynical this year.  The only time I felt like Crosby had a sure thing all year was against Caney Creek.  (I missed the Dayton and Splendora game for work).   Crosby has one or two bad turnovers and some penalties, they lose.   There was some missed calls on Crosby in the Vidor game that would have changed the game.  Maybe once 21 is fully in the game plan and 88 doesn't have penalties against him (both great kids from great families), Crosby can walk away from teams.  Just haven't seen it that much.

A dominant win here sets up nicely for a tough game in the next round (we can look ahead because we are just fans you know).  I want to see Brenham next because their fans are mouthy.  Crosby fans too but feisty fans are fun.

I have seen PNG play several times and they don't have a 4.4 guy on their team.  A couple of guys can run well, but there are very few 4.4 guys playing D1 football, much less concentrated at PNG.  PNG has above average overall team speed though I will say that.

I agree people toss around 4.4 and 4.3 way too much. I only know of 2 varsity football players in the Houston area that's running a 4.3 Craig Williams (Crosby) and Caleb Jolivette (Manvel). With that said I don't think there's a whole lot more athletes running in the 4.4s.

I think Crosby underestimated RP.  Looking back, that was not good.  I think the current staff is not underestimating anybody.  The coaches and team have been solely making decisions and driving for a deep playoff run.  I can assure you, they are focused on beating Marshall and not looking past them.  The decision to play 2 tough out of district games, not putting a lot of different stuff on film, decisions to hold out kids longer than normal after injury, a whole lot of play it safe and get on the bus 2nd halves.  Do the things now to help in the playoffs later.  There is a ton of the offensive playbook that is not being shown.  #21 can run, he is close to 100% if not there.  But they only put him in space one time, and he scored.  Then they pulled him.  How many times have they thrown to the RB out of the backfield?

Now, I don't agree with all those decisions but I understand the why.

Sounds good to me. I sure hope your right.

FB Marshall barely has half the kids FB Ridge Point does. Lot different playing RP in the D2 playoffs with their 2,349 student enrollment than it will be playing Marshall with their 1,280 student enrollment. It wasn't the speed that killed us, it was the mismatch in the trenches which is the drastic difference between 5A and 6A. RP is also one of the better coached teams you'll find in the Houston area, not sure that's going to be the case with Marshall.

The playoffs are about matchups and considering this is the #1 seed coming out of the Fort Bend district as far as D2, Crosby couldn't ask for a better one. This is one of he rare times we'll play one of the Fort Bend schools and have a personnel advantage.

I'm not going to underestimate them with our pedestrian running game this year against their 4-3 defense and their speedy secondary. I hope we can get more creative.

You would think you would learn your lesson after underestimating ridge point. Crosby is going to again struggle with that fort bend type of speed.

Speed didn't beat Crosby against Ridge point size did. With that said, Marshalll looks better than College Station on film to me. This might be the toughest team before state for Crosby

And people were saying Central was a bad team , its the playoffs you have to be ready every game , good job New Caney glad you were able to pull it off and good fight Central , that was a awesome game. Texas high school football is exciting , especially at this time of year , glad I made the trip to watch this live. Good luck to all 4 teams next week. PNG , New Caney , Crosby and PAM

I think NC has Manvel. That's a tough draw in the 2nd round. Better get rid of the ball quick. It's going to be hard for Allison to run the ball.

Man I'm not sure about that. Most points Whitehouse has given up this year was 24 I believe and CS dropped 51 on them.

The score was 21-14 midway through the 3rd. I compare them to New Caney because that was the best traditional offense that we've seen. Chris Monroe isn't the caliber RB that Marte Allison is, and NC QB is more allusive with a better arm. I only watched 3 quarters, but their offense plays into our defensive strengths. We have to beat Marshall first though.

    Let me add this:

i am very ready to see Craig "Sqwirl" Williams back on the field. He adds a whole different dimension to our game.

But I also want to give credit to Carlos Grace. The kid was dynamic during the '14 semi final run his soph year and looked ready to go crazy his jr year until he blew his acl. He worked his but off to get back this year and with Williams' injury had had to shoulder almost the entire running back duties. You could tell he wasn't back to 100% early but he's getting there now and his given 100% tremendous effort every time he's on the field.

Anyhow, with all the excitement about Sqwirl's return, I wanted to pay some respect to Carlos Grace.

Now let's get back to some Thunder & Lightning!!!

    Go Crosby!!!

We are at our best when we have multiple backs from prior years history. Looking at the rushing numbers, that has been the only difference between now and prior years. With both of them healthy it should be an exciting post season.

Did he suit up? if so the kid plays and the coaching could discipline him in practice all week , don't punish the rest of the team behind a bone head mistake. I believe in discipline to but I also believe in playing the player if they suit up and we will handle the problem at the right time. He is a kid , we all make mistakes but not season ending mistakes. Just my opinion.

Yes he did suit up. I agree with you on the NFL level and depending on nature of the infraction. On the high school level discipline beats talent all day. If you look at Katy they are like a machine. They are never the most talented team in the state, but everyone of those kids buy into the program from day 1.

Last year Williams ran for 985 yards on only 89 carries. Grace had 246 yards in the five quarters he go to play last season before he tore his ACL against Angleton where he already had 7 carries for 99 yards in the first quarter. Williams actually averaged over 11 yards per carry last season. Edwards not playing was a coach's decision, I think the way he punked Dayton and CE King showed he was good enough to play in the playoffs. You have to do it the right way if you want to play for Riordan though, it's not like Dayton.

I am a firm believer in discipline. Mike and Mike had this same convo this morning, because some Jets D Lineman had to sit out a quarter for being late to team meeting and they got pounded in the run game in the 1st quarter and eventually lost. The question was do you put your best athletes on the field if they give you the best chance to win despite their issues.

Surprisingly they said "Yes". I say no especially on the high school level. Accountability off the field equates on the field.  Thats what I liked about David Aymond at North Shore. It didn't matter how good you were if you didn't buy into the system you were gone.
