  1. I agree. I was wondering why they completely abandoned that logo though. The helmet should go back to being just the interlocking LR. That logo could be used for other things.
  2. what was wrong with lumbertons other logo?? I liked it. :?
  3. no, but i did hear that oklahoma had frozen over...
  4. Or so you would think. Astros leading Pirates 13-1 in the 9th inning.

  6. Just thought I would see if anybody is interested in doing this over here on the college board. I just picked 10 games that could be interesting/close. I didn't see much point in picking games like UT/North Texas, A&M/Citadel, etc. If there is interest in it, I will do it every week. If not, then I will figure out something else to do with my spare time! 8) If you don't want to post your predictions on here you can PM me. I guess have em in by Thursday at 5. Standings and new games will be posted Monday night after the Miami/FSU game. Week 1: 1. South Carolina @ Mississippi State (Thursday) 2. Nevada @ Fresno State (Friday) 3. Stanford @ Oregon 4. California @ Tennessee 5. Washington State @ Auburn 6. Notre Dame @ Georgia Tech 7. USC @ Arkansas 8. McNeese St. @ USF 9. TCU @ Baylor (Sunday) 10. Florida State @ Miami (FL) (Monday)
  7. Not to be too technical, but I don't think Lumberton had a school until somewhere around 1968.
  8. It was that evil Greg Bostwick, wasn't it?!
  9. I am a Lumbertonian (or former one at least), but I think my fellow Raider fans need to calm down with the claims of doing this or that. Lumberton has a long way to go. I would love to see the Raiders become a repsected football program and get the community involved and interested. Its hard to get large crowds right now because we have a losing reputation and most of the people in Lumberton have just moved there in the last few years and feel no connection with the community, school, etc. Most of the people at the games when I still lived there were going to see the band or the Raiderettes and their oil derrick routine. When I was in L-town everyone expected the team to lose and I think the players did as well. It would be nice if they could start believing they could compete with other teams. From some of the statements on here it appears that that might be changing. I would just be cautious in the claims made.
  10. Lumberton doesn't have a big rivalry really. The problem is Lumberton went from having nothing to growing and moved through the classifications pretty quickly. Lumberton ended up in 4A where we have no real ties to any of the teams, and they all have pretty long established rivalries. When I was in middle school and some in high school, a lot of people thought of Silsbee as our rival, but there wasn't a lot of passion there. Now, Silsbee has moved down to 3A and the teams don't even play.
  11. I had a teacher in high school that was in the first graduating class from Lumberton and she said they voted on the school colors and it was supposed to be Royal Blue, Scarlet red, and Silver. She said there was an AD in the 80s that loved the Oilers and that led to the color change.
