I’m not buying into our defense being the real deal. Early in the game when Silsbee tried passing they had some success with wide open guys. Once they tried that trick play and we took it to the house, Silsbee was done. I’m not real sure why they got away from the pass. When they put #4 at QB we knew he was running the ball. So I’m not real confident that we will stop a good passing team. Once we got use to their speed the defense played well. But it was like Silsbee was just trying to run the ball until it was 3rd and long. We have a lot of improving to do but we should be ok. I’m not real sure if these people who had Silsbee winning was just out of hate for PNG or if they really thought Silsbee was that good. I didn’t think Silsbee had a chance so I’m gonna think that those homers that picked Silsbee was just out of hate for PNG.

I thought PNG struggled on the O-line. I seen one of the starting offensive lineman from last year playing mainly defense last night. I'm not sure if that's permanent or what. I know in a real game they would have had RJ on the move throwing the ball or running. WB's front is good and they dominated us. RJ didn't have time to throw the ball at all. I don't like to single player's out but we still have a problem in the secondary. We had WB in 3rd and 4th and long and they would throw it deep and complete it. That has to get fixed. We watched it last year and it's still not fixed. I'm not sure how a WR can get so wide open. If we don't get that fixed were going to be in a lot of track meets.

New district mates PN-G and Crosby ranked in the top 10.

From what I've been told is PNG will need to find some WR's. A lot of missed balls in 7 on 7 and the ball is coming plenty hot from Shug. Says the arm strength keeps getting stronger. Plus they are some small guys. Shug may be running more than he is throwing the ball, This is coming from a source close to the team. -
I dont see that happening if that was Porter’s #2 guy last nite. Probally gonna be a slugfest but I think PNG’s pitching will be a little deeper. But your normally pretty accurate on your picks. So who knows.

RF was originally committed to Campbell University which is D1 and backup P/3B committed to Southern Illinois. So 5 was correct and didnt realise the RF decommitted from Campbell .Either way there are several girls that are committed. I've been known to be wrong once or twice in my life. Lol. -

Most of these girls are not committed to small schools. They have to be pretty talented to be playing D1 softball. I believe 5 of them are D1 recruits. These girls play all across the country and win so I don't know what else to say. -

I really expected PNG to make deep runs in each of the last 2 seasons only to be eliminated in the 1st round. This PNG team has 9 college commits, not many teams can say that. May not see this much talent on the field at PNG for a long period of time. Several of these girls play on really good travel teams and win a lot. So I guess I expected the winning to carry over into high school and into the playoffs. It's not gonna get easier next year with the new district allignment. The easy district schedule is over for sure. Good luck next year. -
Who is catching for PNG right now?

Port Neches-Groves 44 Port Arthur Memorial 36/FINAL

5A and 6A football in this area is officiated by the Houston Chapter Officials. So I doubt very seriously any of these officials were just trying to give PNG the game. Some of you people are just ignorant! So I'm not sure how it is home cooking when the officials are from out of town. -
That Tal Light was a big ol boy! He struck out likes 2 times and we were talking smack then he came up and hit one over the lights!

Nederland 3-1 in 13 innings

NEDERLAND 3 PNG 0 Nederland beats PNG 3-0. Destiny Trahan threw a gem against PNG. One of the best games I've seen her throw. Showed why she is a Lamar commit. The game was a pitcher's dual between Destiny and Alexis Labure. Both had 13 strikeouts. Labure walked one and then a ball richocheted off the pitcher and it set the stage for Beard to hit a 3 run shot. This offset a great pitching performance by the PNG pitcher. Both pitcher's were pretty much dominating. Pretty good game to watch. Neither team will be tested in district until they play again. Just hope this weak district does not hurt either team when they get to the playoffs. I think it will though because they will not see any good pitching.

Sounds like the only competition PNG will have is in the tourneys. 22-5A is extremely weak this year along with most teams in this area. I've never seen this area so down in talent before. I've seen a lot of teams and they are really young. Nederland will be the only competition for PNG, should be anyway. Last year they were predicted to win district outright but we know what happened. PNG is pretty loaded at every position. Just have to play the right lineup and hit better to make a run in the playoffs. I look for just about every game in district to be a blowout!

Heard they were getting ready to name Langston the coach but he just took a job at North Texas.

What did Price do in this game?
-
Pretty sloppy game with several error's by both teams. Orangefield appears to be young. The pitcher was having to work her butt off as the catcher was struggling. I'd say 6 runs came off of passed balls. They may have to move the shortstop back to catcher. Pretty slow game at first then PNG started hitting the ball. Orangefield's runs came off of errors.

We will get to see the benefits of the new turf field this afternoon at PNG. First game is scheduled for 4:30. I could see that moving back a little bit. PNG VS. ORANGEFIELD

A serious typo here!

No updates on PNG or Nederland. No one is wanting to post anything after a couple of scrimmages. How is the pitching and hitting for each team so far?
-
Already laying turf on the softball field and the coach told me they are on schedule and should be finished by 02/1. Said the softball field will only take a couple of days to turf then the fences will go up.
-
Their still saying Feb 1st both fields at PNG will be complete. They seem to be pretty fast.

They are still saying PNG's will be ready Feb 1st. We will see. Looks like their about ready to lay turf.
