BruinGrad87 reacted to oldschool2 in West Hardin
I don't have a dog in this fight.. but.. it kind of does matter. Which rule is being broken?.. and what coach, player, referee, or other member was called a name? The only reason I bring it up is that I post some things every once in a while that people probably don't like but I still don't break the forum rules. Like if I said some school was a blazing dumpster fire.. probably offensive but not against the rules.
This isn't against the rules either.

BruinGrad87 got a reaction from Alpha Wolf in Nederland Bond PASSES!!!!
We all pay for the public education that MOST of us attended and MOST DO attend though......... So WHY NOT make it as good and as top notch across the board as possible??!?!?!? If that's an extra $30 a month then so be it! Or you could just vote no and things can continue to be sub-par and you can continue to send your kids to old schools and quality people will move away, including educators...This is why our country is great though... There's quite a bit more at stake than $30 a month for Nederlanders here IMO....

Well said, and don't forget that part about an education being available to ALL members of society; that just happens to be one of the things that sets us apart as a country.

I have to disagree with your statement. The public education system is a primary foundation for our children's future preparation for 14 (including K and pre K) years for there adolescent lives. Importance wise, it ranks right up there with home and church. During a school year your/our kids spend more time in school than they do at home. They spend more time with teachers than they do with parents (excluding summers. Chances are you public school district is the biggest employer in your city. All or which makes it pretty important.

Agreed there are many reasons for "Yes" & "No" votes based on age, lifestyle, kids, home value etc... Thank God we live in a country where regardless of the uneducated, or educated decision of how you will choose to vote, on this local level issue, it is your decision, and that should be respected.
We already know how many people are throwing politics into their argument for support, or non-support of the bond..
I do not believe anyone wants a local, or state decision for that matter, to go the way of the madness of childishness, and disrespect that the National Government has system has become.

The only answer I can think of is greed and/or selfishness.
I didn't have it, my kids didn't have it, so why should anybody else's kids get to have it.
Or, it is my money, I earned it, I shouldn't have to foot the bill for somebody else. If they want it, let them pay for it themselves.
The second reason is why Public Education is in the state that it is in right now and we have people and politicians like Dan Patrick trying to completely destroy public education. It is sad to say, but anytime you vote straight Republican ticket at the State level, you are putting another nail the coffin of Public Education. And when it is finally dead and buried, there goes High School sports as we know and love them.

Likely Port Neches, Lumberton, Orangefield, Bridge City, or one of the private schools in the areas.

It would seem logical when you can get just as high quality of an education in a much more desirable facility with up to date security and advanced technology, just a few miles down the road.
I wouldn't want to raise my children in a community that doesn't want to invest in their future.

I was there for Buna/Woodville game. No one had cell service for whole game. Left after 1st Q of HJ/Livingston game with still no cell service. Got it back but very weak when I got home.
End of 1st score was 14-10 HJ

BruinGrad87 reacted to Stattrax in Silsbee vs. Cuero, 4A State Semifinal
Soulja, you are correct. Any comparison between 5A and 4A is a joke, its a totally different level. I will say this, Silsbee looked good against PNG, until they wore down. Playing a tough schedule against some really good teams will help prepare Silsbee. Not a single team on the Cuero schedule can compare to Nederland, WOS, and PNG, including Cuero. I think Silsbee can win this game if they play up to their capabilities. And the tough schedule you guys have faced might be the tell all. Hope the Tigers can pull the win out. CONGRATS on a great season.

BruinGrad87 reacted to NorthoftheBorder in West Brook vs Austin Westlake
I know that Katy Legacy is a fantastic stadium, but am I the only one who thinks the seating capacity might be a little small for this game? Pulling for Brook to go all the way!! Would like to see an all East Texas final!!

BruinGrad87 reacted to 82 5A State Champs in West Brook vs Austin Westlake
Soulja, you crazy, bro! No way West Brook wins by 14. Westlake is by far the best team we have seen since NS. It's going to take our key players playing way above their norm, not making any mistakes, having some lucky breaks go our way, and for the Chaps to mess up huge. I'm not saying this game isn't winnable for us, I'm just saying on paper, Westlake is better. That being said, I would love for our kids to prove me wrong. They have the talent to win the whole damn thing, but they're going to have to have the right game plan, and some luck, to get it done.

I’m still scratching my head on the OC calling an option when we are trying to run out the clock
You should’ve heard what I blurted out after Elia fumbled lol
I live 10 minutes from Legacy so I can appreciate Todd Dodge not wanting to play back to back in NRG with NS v Lake Travis

This seems to be thw truth, most of the time, and I love your slight handed optimism. But, for West Brook to get the win, I think Westlake is going to have to have a poorly executed game, with poor game plan, and Brook is going to have to be on point with their execution, not make any mistakes, and have some luck, too. I think this is where the ride ends, but I could be wrong. In fact, I would love to be wrong.

you wouldnt be wrong to think the same for the Bruins, no matter who is out for Westlake, they're still solid

BruinGrad87 reacted to PlayActionPass in Silsbee vs WOS - Regional Finals
Yes, WOS has played for 4 in a row. But, nobody else has even played for 3. That was what was being discussed.
The Senior's at WOS have been a part of a State Championship Game run all 3 years they have been in high school, up to this point (looking for #4).
