Crosby's o-line coach went to CC Miller to be the OC. How can CC Miller lose 72-35 to a 5 win team like Vidor was, miss the playoffs completely after a 6 win season then go 12-1 this year missing the regional final by a turnover? The answer to your question is because it's next year Hawking. They also have very good talent comparable to their district the same way Crosby does. No one is predicting that at BH because no one at BH thinks y'all can. They saw how physically outmatched y'all were, same would've happened with FB Marshall, A&M Con. and Huntsville too.The Manvel fans on their thread during the game said they thought Willowridge was better than BH and said the only reason y'all were 11-1 is because y'all hadn't played anybody, which kind of rubbed me. BH doesn't matchup, they're coached up which is a good thing in most cases. Now the best player you've ever had is leaving and unless y'all give another one of our kid's mom a job we're not sending you anymore. I didn't always predict Crosby would win the region after we won district either. We've seen it done and did it without one D1 signee that year. With the way Coach P had the kids playing at the end of the season mixed with what we have coming back and the fact that we will actually have an offseason this year, I expect Crosby to be a lot better if healthy. Crosby being a lot better stratified with FB Marshall and Huntsville being hit hard by graduation only leaves A&M Con. as a real worry which would be a 3rd round game as it sits now. Just like I told you how FB Marshall would win the region over Manvel after you said they were going to lose to A&M Con, I'm telling you this now so don't be surprised.

Reading you post I would've thought Reggie Branch sucked. Now it looks like he'll probably be receiving offers this Spring since he escaped GCCISD. Turns out is was just GCM that made him look like that.

I've been taking it on here for nearly a decade. I just wonder how long you've been following my work to say something like that though, lol? We have 0 state championships which is the same number everybody else currently in 5A has in this area since probably the late 70's. Matter of fact, I can't name a team in the entire Houston area currently in 5A that has a state title recently. I think Shadow Creek gets one this year before they go to 6A similarly to what George Ranch did before they moved up. Our 5A football is nowhere close to the DFW's and that's on a whole, not just Crosby.

The difference is that BH fans thought they had a good defense because they shut down Crosby, we lost to Vidor too . . . In actuality it was wet toilet paper like the other defenses in the district which was proven when Manvel lost 40-10 the very next week after hanging 55 on them in basically three quarters. Crosby fans have been everywhere except the dance and we've played all the powerhouses in the region except A&M Con. since Fedora has been there, I think we have a more realistic grasp on what we are and what it takes to do more than win a district championship.

I know one thing I won't miss is the aroma of argon that permeates Vidor and having to fight people living in pop-up campers by the stadium for parking spots.

Pretty crazy, right? Imagine how crazy Manor fans must've looked saying they could beat Cedar Park and play for the region after going 5-5. Better yet is those crazy Taylor fans who finished 6-6 last year, 4th in their district at 5-5 this year and now will be playing Westlake in the semis Saturday. I could go on and on but I think you get it. Plus the only time I remember us playing Lumberton it was 35-0 in the first quarter.

Waltrip is down too, I would think that's the team most likely to replace Manvel in district 11 and put Texas City wherever Santa Fe goes.

If I was a Vidor fan I would be trying to figure out how Crosby's first year coach already has half as many playoff win as Jeff Matthews who's been there for 17 years I believe. I didn't realize y'all would still be waiting on FEMA checks when I made the statement in 2011 about that being your only 5A bi-district win for the foreseeable future but congrats on dropping to 4A, maybe you'll get to meet Calallen.

Yeah. Angleton did something similar in 2015 after we beat them 34-0. They might’ve even lost to a tram Vidor beat that same season. They finished the year something like 9-5. I think this was our 11th time to make the area round in the last 15 years, I’m not confusing that with losing to Cedar Park in the semis. You should know by now that nearly everything I say on here always sounds crazy until it happens, at least it does a very high percentage of the time.

BH has beaten Crosby at every level of football pretty much every year they’ve come up to 4A/5A, they just now won a couple of varsity games again. I wouldn’t out much emphasis on jv and freshman games. There were freshman and sophomores that would’ve started on those teams on varsity this year. Y’all haven’t really been good since you’ve come up to 5A so I know your perception of things may be distorted after one good season. BH got a good draw out of a down district. Like the Manvel fans were saying during the game, “BH has nothing but that qb”. He’s graduating and TW literally hasn’t won without a that type of running qb since he had one of the Dick brothers over a decade ago at Allen. Where do the players come from? IDK, but that’s an odd question seeing as how Crosby will sign more kids than BH this year and definitely will next year. Collier is going to be BH’s first D1 signee since Dolan in probably 2011. Crosby has at least 5 of those type prospects coming back for next year alone. For a team that has the best athletes in the district it’s pretty dumb to ask “where you think these players are coming from”. As far as the Huntsville game, I don’t the Hornets scoring with second left on the clock to take a 5 point lead at the half is never close. I don’t think having an opportunity to cut it to a one score game with almost half the 4th quarter left is never close. What an asinine statement to make about a kid who catches two tds on jump balls because he’s a better player than the guy who matched up against him, kid had almost 200 yards receiving on 6 catches. That’s called exploiting a matchup. He did the exact same thing to Manvel’s dbs. Crosby put about 530 yards on Huntsville, I’m not sure FB Marshall had even 400. I’m cool with that from our first year coach. Never being close was BH and Manvel. Down nearly 30 in the 4th quarter and having to score a late td to cut it to 20 is a lot more trash in my opinion. Crazy you say Willowridge would’ve finished 6th or 7th in our district, yet four weeks ago Manvel had to come back in the 4th quarter to beat them by 8. What does that make BH after getting mutilated all game. BH couldn’t physically play on the same field with Manvel, why didn’t y’all just throw jump balls for tds on them like we did? Oh yeah, you don’t have those players. I would feel awful if I got destroyed like that and pay my coach over $20k more than Highland Park’s coach. Everything you’ve said Crosby wouldn’t/couldn’t or can’t do, we’ve already heard and done before. Not at all worried about BH in anything but girls softball.

What number did A&M Con. turn in?

Yeah, we had a run where we went 32-0 or 31-1 back when Humble was in the district and lost to Terry in the regional final. I believe Terry either won or played for the state title that year? You’re right though, baseball is higher on the totem pole that basketball is these days. There are kids I know for sure willing to come from Channelview, Baytown and CE King if Crosby gave a crap about basketball. We just have kind of a Jeff Nations situation going on with that program right now.

What I would say is congrats to BH. I really wouldn’t poke at Crosby though. BH won the district and much like PNG if you can do that you get a much easier draw. The team BH drew in the second round had already lost to Marshall 35-8 during the regular season before Huntsville beat Marshall 35-12 in the first round, that’s normally a first round game in the old format. Playoffs are about matchups and BH got a good draw before they got Manvel, could’ve easily gotten A&M Con. in the second round like FB Marshall did had we been playing from a different place in the region. Again, congrats to BH. This is by far their best season since they came from 3A. Watch what Crosby puts together next year if they can stay healthy though, I fully expect for them at a minimum to win the region again.

I agree with you for the most part. I would say with a 19 year old son though, nobody is coming to BH looking for girls except the kids from state streets in Baytown. Seems like North Shore, Atascocita and Kingwood are the places for that. With athletics I would add a disclaimer that says “mainly girls sports”, even though we’ve lost to BH at multiple things the last couple of years. Crosby just had their second player in 5 years make an NFL regular season roster, had probably their 6th kid drafted to the majors after starring in the college World Series and are about to produce our first WNBA player. Again though, I agree with you. Crosby is the largest school in the district, they shouldn’t lose at anything to BH except girls volleyball and softball.

If at the beginning of the year you would’ve said Coach P would have Crosby looking like the teams of old by mid-November, I think every Crosby fan would’ve taken it. Crosby set the school playoff scoring record last game, without going back to look at the La Marque and Elgin scores I’ll say we probably came close to setting the playoff record for points allowed in this one. There comes a time when averaging 57 per game in the playoffs should at least get you to Thanksgiving. That being said, it was a solid first year under the new regime. Taking into consideration what Crosby has coming back I expect them to be VERY good next year.

I mean, smh . . . a kick return man . . . Let’s just come out and get a stop Crosby. We’ve already show we can hit multiple big plays on their defense.

I said Marshall is a good comparison to what Crosby will put on the field and they scored 12 points on Huntsville. I don’t think anybody here is trying to compare FBW’s defense and Huntsville’s.

I wonder why Dayton wouldn’t just call Jeff Riordan and see if he wants the job? I know he would love to come kick Crosby’s arse. Have to give him the AD job and let him clean house though.

BH’s talent level vs the competition is no higher now than it was when they were finishing 6th in the district. Their players are better because they’re being coached up though. Dayton is growing slower than the surrounding areas so they’re going to be in 5A-D2 for a while. You don’t need Cody Green and AJ Dugat to win down here, they would be just fine with players like the little Herrera kid that played qb and had Dayton in the regional round.

That’s pretty duh statement, of course you can only win games with Hispanics in those places because that’s all that freaking lives there. You’re killing your own argument. NS used to be basically all white and sucked at football, now “Hispanics have taken over” and the black and white population of the school combines to less than 30% of the total and they’re winning state titles. You can apply the same logic to Duncanville who’s majority Hispanic now as well. My wife graduated from Dallas Skyline. They’re 75% Hispanic and have a similar enrollment to NS. Up until recently they were basically DFW’s version of NS. Now they suck because their coach went to Duncanville. Go look at the before and after records for both teams and you’ll see the differences. Hispanics moving in make your enrollment go up, they don’t make you sorry all of a sudden. Dayton doesn’t have a problem with Hispanics ruining their football program. Dayton had the fewest black kids I can ever remember seeing on their team the past couple years we played. They have a problem with a crappy coach and low participation rates. You’re misconstruing regentrification with simply having additional enrollment that happens to be Hispanic.

If this was the case North Shore’s football program would’ve died a long time ago seeing as how they’re 70% Hispanic. They still have athletes, you have to make them want to be a part of something though. What spells disaster is hiring somebody because they go to the same church.

I’m not sure how many people from Dayton were really high on Nations? He hasn’t coached a game in five years. The explanation is he coached on a staff with Jerry Stewart.

My estimation is that BH paid about $1 million to the Westeberg family for that district championship. TW has been there 3 years and BH employees TW, his wife, his son and his son’s wife. If TW makes $154k then you can assume the other three split around $200k putting you in the $350k annually neighborhood. I guess we got a bargain on Coach Prieto for having us in the area round his first year here while he’s probably the second lowest paid coach in the district? Keep in mind, BH’s best player is Casey Collier. They also had to give his mom a job to get them to transfer out of Crosby when his sister was in school. They have a whole lot invested in this.
