Before I lose my religion, what exactly does this have to do with ANYTHING?
Another poster made the comment about FB Marshall not having the same “caliber” of athletes as LV. I gave him the statistical reason that wasn’t true by pointing out that 90+% of LV’s football team comes from one demographic while 100% of FBM’s do and that FBM produces more FBS talent on average out of that demographic. Meaning his assumption on athletic quality was a fallacy.
Don’t lose your religion. You’re new here, me using statistics to explain stuff to people is something that been going on for a decade here.

Yeah, feels very 41-17-ish if we can’t go execute. Four hour bus ride into a cold, rainy and hostile environment. It has all the makings. Luckily we’ve executed decently recently so maybe that makes the long bus ride with us.
I think the assumption is that Crosby is going to give up a bunch of points because we did to La Porte but any Crosby fans know that those running offenses like Vidor, Elgin, Liberty Hill, La Porte, Jasper, etc. The only tight run offenses we’ve ever had any success against the last decade have been Angleton and Port Lavaca. LV is multiple with pro and spread offense so it’s something Crosby is better at defending.

I agree. The material is a bit old and stagnant.
I think he just thought it was something else before the video? Now he’s gone to the “it’s irrelevant” mode which is doubly odd since he’s post it numerous threads throughout the year, not just Crosby threads. I would think grown men are above continuously trolling for likes but I do see it pretty often on the college message boards between the students.

What is different about LV than the other #1 seeds? They are the only #1 seed that is ranked #1 in the state in 5AD1. Report back after the game and let us know how they look. Let us know if they resemble FBM or what "caliber athletes" they have.
So what? BH was the #4 seed last year and knocked off state ranked #1 FB Marshall in Fort Bend. FBM had a 6’3” 5 star receiver who’s now at A&M and another 6’3” receiver who signed FBS somewhere. Their d-ends are currently committed to TCU and Baylor, their middle linebacker is committed to Arkansas State, one of their corners is committed to UH now and they have another DB with P5 offers. They had all those kids last year when BH beat them too. Their football players also won another team state track and field title last year. As I continue to say though, it doesn’t mean we won’t go up there and lose by 30. You usually get to 6A-D1 level before you really top FBS athletes like that.
P.S. - Something old 14.2 would post to add substance to his point that new 14.2 just leaves alone.
LV and FB Marshall are both basically all black as far as the football product on the field. I see #99 and the kicker for LV who aren’t. Assuming that those other kids are who you select your starting 22 from, in 2018 which is the last year I see stats for, LV had like 715 of those kids while FBM had 895. Meaning it’s no surprise that they have more prospects than LV even though they have a smaller overall enrollment.

Still a idiotic statement in the context it was used. Basically…nobody gives a 💩
Kinda reminds me of something Beto would say. Lol
Cool, just letting you know selling woof tickets. Obviously you do since you post it in literally EVERY Crosby thread. Good luck to you boys this week.

you’ve definitely been watching longer than me & have seen a lot more teams come through than i have. But if this seasons team ends up bringing home another ring, idk what team i could put over them since I’ve been watching. I’ve never seen a lobo defense do what this one is doing. under 600 rushing yards allowed through 10 games is crazy to think about. A good number of teams had given up that many halfway through the season.
If Crosby can’t manufacture some type of running game we’re probably going to lose pretty substantially. I think we’re going to have to run for ~ 200 yards and have right around 400 yards total unless we get a couple of turnovers we can capitalize on.
With the offensive line being what it is, I think the only way we can hope to run it with any effectiveness is to be successful in the screen game and cause LV to have to commit more players to the perimeter which gets them out of the box. Lancaster was pretty successful in the quick passing game and the sophomore QB looked good when he had to run it against the LV defense. Myles has also looked a lot better since our receivers have gotten healthy and some personnel changes made up front. Still going to be a daunting task to block #99 and #45

Alright man, only because I’m shallow though🤣 When you get bumped up to project manager we can discuss contracts and verify the second part of the claim🤙🏾

Longview's defense has surrendered a total of 70 points all season, 8 total in the second half (unfortunate fumble by our second team against North Mesquite with 3 minutes to go to make that doubled for the season).
Crosby is back healthy and ready to go.
Interested to see how the 3+ hour drive will impact the Cougars, not to mention playing in Lobo Stadium for the first time.
Lobos haven't lost a home playoff game since 1984. The closest game since then was Beaumont West Brook back in 2017, a 3 score advantage. Magnolia game last season ended 21 points as well, but that game was completely dominated by Longview outside of about a 4 minute stretch to end the half.
Will be interested to see what Crosby can bring that they think can attack against us. Taylor Tatum will get his yards. Jalen Hale will get his yards. I don't think the Coogs have the weapons to keep up with us to be honest, but stranger things have happened I guess.
Lobo defense has allowed a total of 565 rushing yards this season, so feel like Crosby's only real plan would be to throw the ball.
Excited to see a new team in person. Hope y'all bring some type of crowd.
With all of our games being on Texan Live and it being a rainy, cold night I don’t think a normal Crosby crowd is going to make the trip? Relatively the same distance but a way harder drive than it would be for the Crosby fans to Lancaster where a bunch of our fans would’ve just spent the night in Dallas. Disappointing to say the least but these are the consequences of a sub-par season.

Longview’s defense hasn’t given up more than 13 points in a game this season. 7 of the 19 that north mesquite scored came from a scoop & score late late in the 4th quarter when the game was already out of hand. I respect the Crosby program but I’ve been watching lobo football since the early 2000’s & this is without a doubt the best team I’ve ever seen us field. if Longview comes with their A game which the my usually do in the playoffs, I don’t see how we don’t win by 4 or more scores.
I think your assumption is that Crosby is your typical bi-district opponent? We may well be but it’s going to be interesting to see how well we can match up now that we’re relatively healthy. The only position group I would give Crosby the nod at over LV is QB, if Beaumont Westbrook doesn’t fumble late I wouldn’t even give it to you at coach. Hard not to be confident when we got blow out by Kingwood Park though🤷🏾♂️

Well spoken. It is worthy of note that Longview is "not a typical 1 seed" as well.
What’s different about them? They have less FBS prospects than FB Marshall does. They’re better coached but they have the same caliber athletes at PAM does this year. They’re great no doubt but they’re not atypical like the 2020 Denton Ryan team.

Well, if you were a Crosby fan before the season you were hoping this is the matchup you would get . . . You were just hoping it would be on Black Friday. It’s disappointing that we don’t get another game or two to improve before a matchup like this but those are the consequences of a a sub-par season. Still very proud of this team for overcoming adversity to get to this point, last time we were in this situation in 2018 we lost to Santa Fe and had our playoff streak broken.
On the football side of things there’s really not a bunch of analysis. Longview has played very well most of the time this year and Crosby hasn’t. Neither team will be anything both haven’t already seen this year. I think Crosby’s best opportunity for a victory is to go try to manufacture 31 points and hope to win the turnover/penalty battle. The obvious rebuttal would be that Longview hasn’t given up 31 all year but we’ve also heard that multiple times in the past from different teams. Crosby will show up and hopefully play a clean, hard game and let the chips fall where they may.

I was wondering when you would show up again, lol.
I actually agree with you that the best matchup out of your district is and has been a healthy Crosby. A Crosby team that is just getting healthy and a few games to gel is a recipe for a really good 1st round game. The Lancaster game was a great game and showed us several things to work on. The only thing you can’t be blind to in that game is the 6 or 7 interceptions that Longview dropped. That won’t happen again. Lancaster’s defense is elite and probably the best or at least top 2 in Texas in D1 but Longview prevailed. The thing Crosby better be able to do is learn to stop the run and fix your offensive line. If you can’t stop the run or block our defense, the game will honestly be over in the first half. I honestly don’t see that happening. I expect a solid game with Longview winning by 3 scores.
I really didn't see 6 or 7 dropped interceptions? I saw Nelson and one of the other dbs drop one but the others looked like plays that just weren't made. I thought that sophomore QB from Lancaster played well against LV, 19-32 for 206 with one TD 0 ints and 88 rushing yards. If any of his other receivers besides #0 could catch they probably leave Lobo Stadium with a win. LV was fortunate Lancaster sucks in the kicking game too. You don't win many when your QB goes 4-10 for 70 yards with one TD and two picks. LV also got a break on the TD he threw to Hale because either the LT/TE on that side wasn't set before the ball was snapped. To your point though, good teams prevail even despite those issues.
I think part of the reason we've looked so bad on the o-line this year is because the receivers have been banged up, meaning you can just play a bunch of guys in the box and confuse the linemen as to what their assignments should be. The receivers have been getting healthier in recent weeks which is why I think we've thrown for nearly 1,000 yards and 12 tds with 0 ints over the last three games. As far as blocking LV I think y'all have to commit personnel to the box for that to be an issue. LV doesn't have a Kam Bizor or Dylan Spencer like CE King did that could dominate individual matchups and they don't have the speed like the like the FB Marshall kids on the d-line committed to Baylor and TCU. What they do have is a great back end that buys time for kids like Billy Smith who's probably an average player at 90% of schools in the state but great in LV's scheme. All in all I think Crosby will be ok on offense if we can throw the ball accurately to open receivers while avoiding turnovers and penalties.
Crosby struggles with the veer/slot-t type run games, not really your typical spread run game. LV runs the ball from a spread pretty often but when they don't they're usually running power and zone out of a pro set. The one play Crosby struggles with out of that set is the counter and LV doesn't really run it, or at least not in the Lancaster and Tyler games I've watched so far. I think Crosby will load the box and try to make Allen beat us with his arm. Hopefully we can pick him off a time or two like Lancaster did when he tries to force it to Hale.
Like I've already said, we could come up there and get crop dusted from whistle to whistle but I could also see Crosby coming up there and dropping 30+ on LV and having them on the ropes in the second half. I guess that's why we have to line it up though.

I think it's now "we gonna see" but tell the children not to look.
It is what it is. If there was anybody from this district that had a chance to make a game of it with Longview it was back then and still is Crosby. One sentiment I can relay to you coming from the kids and staff is that nobody is scared. We’re also relatively healthy now. Still may get blown out considering how we’ve played to date but we’ll still be there at kickoff.
I’ve watched the Lancaster vs Longview game 2.5 times so far and I would go so far as to say Lancaster would be the tougher matchup for Crosby because of their team speed. I looked up all the players in LV’s lineup while watching the game and noticed they’re pretty much the same size as Crosby outside of WR meaning we can probably avoid a CE King type situation. They’re just well coached with a bunch of good football players.
Not too long ago our DC was the DC at Marshall so he’s seen LV’s offense a few times. Hopefully the injuries benefit Crosby in the sense that most of our film from this year is useless. I think there’s a good chance Crosby goes out to East Texas and plays their best game of the year if that’s the matchup we end up with.

This is incorrect.
Barbers Hill has not clinched a playoff seed, and Crosby has not clinched the #4 seed.
Barbers Hill sits at 5-2, Crosby sits at 4-3 and New Caney Porter sits at 4-3.
New Caney Porter faces off against Barbers Hill to end the season.
Assuming Crosby doesn't fall flat on their face in the finale, they'll finish at 5-3. If they do lose, then BH has to beat NCP for the Cougars to get in. But like I said, assuming they don't, it comes down to the Spartans and the Eagles.
If Porter wins, we'll have a three way tie at 5-3. Barbers Hill only beat Crosby by one point. Crosby beat New Caney Porter by 5. So it sits at Crosby +4, Barbers Hill +1, New Caney Porter -5.
Basically New Caney Porter just needs to win by 4 to get into the post season. Then Crosby would finish 3rd (head to head over New Caney Porter), New Caney Porter would finish 4th and Barbers Hill would be out.
I have no idea what happens if NCP wins by 3 and it ends Crosby +4, Barbers Hill -2, New Caney Porter -2. I would assuming the Spartans would get in due to head to head at that point but not going to assume on that scenario.
Glad someone could explain this properly. Your assumption is also correct that Porter only needs to win by three points to get into the playoffs, at which point Crosby moves into 3rd place and plays Lancaster in bi-district. BH can still finish 2nd with a KP loss and a win over Porter or completely miss the playoffs with a loss to Porter by 3 points or more.

22-17 Crosby. Halftime. Crosby offense still not doing well. Too many opportunities not capitalized on.
Lol, KP gave us the ball on the 15 yard line and we still couldn’t score
-
Just an average Crosby team would’ve had this KP team down 42-10 at the half. KP literally called a timeout at the end of the half with Crosby in possession of the ball because they didn’t think we could pick up a first down, smh
-
KP is terrible and I’m still not sure we shouldn’t be losing.
-
Man, we’ve been looking so suspect they just went ahead and parachuted in help before we even kicked off, smh

Well, wish he would’ve came in January. Seismic for next year though.

23 carries for 92 yards. Well over 100 yards without the callbacks. Didn’t score and that’s kind of all that matters in a tight one
-
That’s very good and important win for Nederland. FBW is probably going to be a little better later in the year. Definitely something the Dogs can build off of.
-
This is going to be another very interesting game. Kingwood Park looked better on film against Sterling than BH did. Not sure the last time I've seen a Crosby team only averaging 25ppg nearly halfway through the season? Offense needs to play better this week or we're going to be in another bind. KP has the best QB/WR combination in the district and some legit trench guys. Their QB is good at escaping pressure and has a big arm.
I think Yarborough will be healthy enough to get his first carries of the year this week and Womack should be a full go on offense but now Roberson is back down. Like the move made on the offensive line but execution has been our real issue this year, not necessarily the personnel. Throw in the fact that we historically play bad on homecoming anyway and here we are.
