Donovonn Young.
So thats why you so envious of Katy, wasnt he at Humble before he transferred? Makes sense now.  ::)
Donovan Young wouldn't have played at North Shore. They had Tracy Woods and Tim Cornett who went to Miami(OH) and UNLV. Cornett was the backup at North Shore and started as a true freshman at UNLV.
Yes he would of.  D. Young could of started for what ever school he wanted to.  He was a freak of nature.  When he showed up at Humble as a freshman he was 5'11 190 lbs.  When he left katy he was 6'0 215lbs and ran 4.6.    That kid could ball.
What??? 6' 215 and 4.6. There's 50 kids like that walking down Wallisville right now.Cornett was 6' 190 and 4.4 and was the backup. T.Woods was the 200+ pound banger so no, Young wouldn't have gotten on the field much at all. We're talking about a kid who's second best offer was North Texas after rushing for 2000 yards. I guess you think Aundre Dean could play too. Adam Taylor is another back who won't do much in college. Don't think because these guys put up a bunch of yards behind offensive lines where they don't get touched until they're six yards down the field that they're big time backs. There's not a player on Katy's roster who could've started at North Shore this year besides Matt Dimon and a big guard they had.
No theres not.  This is a stupid argument.  you aren't going to submit to reason, instead you will side with ridiculous assumptions based on outcomes that encompass far more then just how tall and fast someone is.      Theirs more to a d1 prospect and recruiting then his raw ability.    DY  experienced "issues"  during his recruitment.  I can tell you in absolute confidence, everyone knocked on his front door.  In the world of recruiting though, coaches scare easy.... The lack of offers was not his fault directly, lets just put it that way.
I don't know what's worse, the fact that you are posting slander about a kid's family on this site, or that you say something as stupid as "can tell you in absolute confidence" right before you post on a public forum.  SMH
 2.

I like camps, that's why I think the quality of play is where it is now on the sub-high school levels. I also like the full contact camps around the intermediate age, it gives kids that didn't play in a good little league or not at all a jump on the type contact he'll be seeing once all the restrictions are removed. The new Heads Up camps are pretty good about teaching proper technique which is most of what they do anyway. I'm also a huge fan of the new high school level camps you attend on university campuses. These can be a catch 22 however because while they seperate kids with comparable production on the field, they also expose the kids who've had great production but have been the benefactor of a good system or weaker competition. These camps are often the first time the local high school star is just a face in the crowd or a number on a jersey. Either way as previous poster have said, it's better than getting no work at all. My overall view is that camps do wonders for kids, even going to the smaller camps can get you a look which you may not have gotten otherwise. Coaches also talk, so if you're not a particular team's cup of tea a good word could be put in for you here or there.
Sounds like kids that have the opportunity to attend camps have an edge.
Its possible, but I know kids that went to camps every year and go no where, and others that never attend camps and go to D1 schools. If you got it, you will get a ride, if not, a camp wont give it to you. The saddest thing I have seen is the kids that got it, but are two dumb to get in the school. Education is the most important.
Good post Horns.  But let me add to that.  The ones that don't go to camps and go  D1 is because of their 'potential', not because of how good they are in high school.  If a kid is 6'4" 260 and has good speed/feet, he can go D1 because they know by looking at his frame, he can be a 5th year senior in college weighing 300 and running sub 5.0 40s.  Unless HD's son grows another few inches, he won't fall into that category and would benefit greatly by attending camps.  I also like the post about speed camps.  There is no substitute for speed and quick feet at any position. Until his last couple of years of high school, I would focus on the smaller camps that give more instruction in smaller groups.  Big school, 'showcase' camps serve a purpose but it's not to make a kid better.  JMO

Houston was one of Hopkins letters. Kicker Dustin Welch was specials teams MVP of district, kid hits 45 yard field goals at ease. Welch will kick on Saturdays.
What kind of speed do the 3 DE/OL players have?  Unless it's 4.6 or faster, they better focus on OL to play at the next level.

I will go out on a limb and predict HJ will finish top 2 in the district. He has already made a big impact as far as attitude, excitment, work ethic, and enthusiasm...
WONT HAPPEN BRO!!
With all that said.... nothing about Ozen and Keeath Magee ??? there is some talent over there also....
Just an oversight on my part.  Ozen/Magee are definitely in the discussion.  Ozen is in second place in votes on the site from the original post.  Here are the coaches/programs that were originally talked about: Toby Foreman, Central Keeath Magee, Ozen Dwayne DuBois, Hardin-Jefferson Larry Haynes, Lumberton If there are other 1st year coaches to add to the list, add them.  Maybe some of you stats guys can add the previous records for these programs, but only if we are grading on improvement over last years win/loss record. We might only want to look at improvement in "District" win/loss records.

 7. It was a game of touch but the new, large and freakishly fast transfers were said to be very aggressive with their touches.
And if that advice doesn't work then I would suggest the following: While playing OLB, hit the RB so hard everyday until he decides he doesn't want to run the ball anymore.  If the coach asks why you are acting that way, tell him that it is your spot and this is the only way I know how to take it away from him.  The more deserving person will end up with the RB position, I promise.

Nothing is more American than a big, juicy hamburger. Hamburgers and cheeseburgers have been a staple of the American diet for decades. In 2001, over 8.2 billion burgers were served in commercial restaurants in the United States. This number doesn't even take into account the number of burgers people eat at home, which is another 15 billion! Although hamburgers originated in Hamburg, Germany, eating the burger in a bun is actually an American innovation. The hamburger sandwich was most likely invented in Seymour, Wisconsin. Each year the city hosts a hamburger festival called Burger Fest. That is where the world's largest hamburger made its debut in 2001. It weighed 8,266 pounds!
