1. Would anyone like to change their votes on MTC's poll conducted recently.  Most annoying, delusional, etc.  Voting would be different this time around.  :)
 2. A little off topic but... Do you think most of those guys were getting "offers" when they were underclassmen.  That's a rhetorical question BTW.  I already know the answer.
 3.

I consider myself more of a baseball guy and even I think this is a ridiculous post.  If you don't think baseball is or can be year-round, you are mistaken.  The only thing that keeps baseball from being played year-round is the weather.  Finally, if the reason to support your kids in playing sports is for scholarship opportunities or to have their college education paid for, save your money on any year-round sports and set up a college fund.  Do the math, a college basketball team may have 15 players and a college baseball team may have around 30 to 40.  Both of those sports have about 12 scholarships per team to distribute.  In the case of baseball, those 12 scholarships are often divided between 20-30 players.  Factor in the odds of getting a scholarship to play sports with distribution and your logic completely falls apart.
Can you give us a short list, say 3 or 4 schools (colleges/universities) that carry 30 or 40 players on their baseball teams?  Me thinks that is an exaggeration, Sir. ::)
He said 20-30 in one spot and 30-40 in another.  It sure does look like 40 or more when they are shaking hands after a game.  Maybe a lot of them are just bat boys are something.
Nash, Do you agree with the rest of DV's logic? DV, When was it that Lumberton went to the playoffs?  Do we know who the coach was during that time and were there any notable players during that coach's time at the school?
NO, there are a myriad of other variables to consider.  If you use DVs criteria and you are the AD at Bridge City, you have to replace the coach every year.  If the coach is improving the program on a gradual basis, why should you take the risk that his successor wont be able to do that?
How many years had Weller been with Lumberton and what was his record each year?  I'm guessing by your post that it would show a progressive improvement over the years that he was there.  Do you know the records?

If SC had beaten GTown, SC would have been celebrating with Gatorade baths and a huge parade because they would have had won two playoff games in a row. They've never done that before, you know. Of course, SC would have lost to Angleton the next weekend.
I’m curious as to what the reason for loosing in 2014 will be when SC has an entire season in 5A! BREAKING NEWS!!!  SC HAS BEEN ROBBED AGAIN BY THE 5A BANDITS!! ;D ;D
Please hurry and remove that post.  You seem too nice for the insults you are about to receive.
 7.
Dustoff... I have 4 words for ya.... "Bull In The Ring".... outlawed now... but back in the day it taught you how to keep your head on a swivel for sure.... LOL
Ahh yes.  Bull in the ring and kill the man with the ball, both very effective I agree.  IMO, you could still do some of these drills if you just did it without helmets and pads.  With helmets, many players want to go for the knockout shot in the head.  We had some tackle football games in the neighborhood as teenagers that were more physical than a full contact high school practice today.  And we did it without leading with our heads and without targeting anyone's head.  That's the biggest difference.
 8.
Coach Mitchell, was my sons coach,  great job!    Good luck Coach,  seems you'll need it,  Get the parents behind you and you will be successful.
It sounds like the previous coach would have done well but like someone else said, with a new AD comes new coaches.  And I'm sure the new coach will be fine.
 9.
The act of tackling does not cause head/neck injuries. The act of poor or improper tackling causes head/neck injuries. They can limit the contact all they want, but that in and of itself will not solve the problem.
GCMPats, Do you think hitting is being limited because they want to reduce injuries or because they are trying to address the number of new CTE cases that are discovered each year?  Let me give you a quick physics lesson.  If one object (a brain) is traveling at about 20 mph and the body that it is traveling in suddenly stops on impact, the brain keeps going and sloshes against the front of the skull.  And it doesn't matter if you use perfect form or horrible form, you cannot alter that fact.  So, the only way you can have a positive impact on the number of CTE cases in the future is to try and reduce the # of times the brain gets sloshed around.  Plain and simple.  We can talk about how to maintain good technique without full speed drills all you want, but you can't argue that reducing the amount of hitting during practice will help with CTE.

Tackling is a lost art. The teams that coach it up, win.
Yep!
all though I agree  on your above statements.. most teams have been scaled back to this for awhile now... me i believe you have to have full contact for the body to learn how to protect itself on a 2nd nature status.... just like breathing... your body has to learn how to take a hit... which muscles to tighten... which ones to loosen... and it will get use to repairing itself over a weeks time.... if you don't think that is a true statement ... ( as much as I hate to say it being a Cowboys fan ) look at the Steelers and Ravens.... they hit more then anytime in the league during the season... and they are the least hurt.... or at least they were in the Cowher days... now that they have slacked off they have more and more on the injury report.... but back on subject most teams are all ready in this mode....
It's a lose/lose situation.  If you don't hit a lot and have physical practices, then it translates to poor tackling and blocking on friday night.  If you do hit a lot and go full speed most of the week, then the ones you have left are really sound fundamentally.  But depending on who you lose during the week, it can be devastating to that team's season.  If you don't have the numbers in your program, then it affects you the most.  You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
How much time a week during the season do you think coaches spend on "Tackling" drills? How many teams you know have multiple, full speed, game simulation scrimmages during the week during the season?
I'm well aware of the fact that this ruling means nothing to most programs because most programs don't do much hitting already.  I thought this discussion had now moved to what impact 'less contact' during the week has had on friday night injuries and poor blocking and tackling.  We've probably all researched CTE and seen it in the news, so we should not be surprised at how practices, and games, have changed.  Being a former football player and having kids who play football, I will accept poor tackling for a healthy brain when they are finished playing.

It’s Kamehameha Day! In Hawaii, today is a public holiday that celebrates Kamehameha the Great—the monarch who established the unified Kingdom of Hawaii in 1810. During this time period, Hawaii was the only nation that remained independent while the rest of the Polynesian islands were taken over by colonial powers. Kamehameha was nicknamed “the Napoleon of the Pacific” for this achievement. To celebrate Kamehameha Day, Hawaiians attend carnivals, floral parades, and horse races. There is also a large hula competition that attracts hula companies from all over the world.
I liked Iced Tea Day better.  Just saying.
