  1. JMO but all that really matters is at the end of the game when WOS has more points than their opponents! But getting back to the topic! I totally agree with X man, there are better choices for a field name than what they came up with! Lots of Great coaches came through West Orange back in the day!

You are no different then then the guy that asked for an HJ spokesman to tell him "what kind of team do you have"...I sense a lot of arrogance in this thread from some of the WOS faithful.  Not enough to cause the type of karma that would allow you boys to actually lose a district game, but the type to blow a lead like y'all did vs Gilmer two years ago in Dallas.  Thank goodness we all know you aren't a true reflection of the WOS program.  One thing HJ has is class, win or lose, you will get plenty of it.

    Just like Barry E.!

2014 WO-S had 1st year of Jack Dallas, Deionte Thompson, Tre Spencer, Trey Baldwin, Chris James, and Dillon Sterling-Cole would have been the QB if not for transferring. They were really really good.

2012 Newton had D.J. Dean, Kevin Shorter, Brandon Johnson in the backfield. Roney Elam was the corner Cameron Yoe threw at to not go to Dean's side (imagine that). Definitely were good enough to win state that season, they were dominant.

I thought Chris James graduated in 2013, the year they lost to Carthage in the freezing weather with 40mph winds.

Maybe, but that was in response to a post that said the Mustangs' DL look undersized.  They've definitely usually had smaller in the past.  And regardless, anyone that's seen them play and think they are a weakness on defense, must have the last name Charles or Wonder.  They will control the LOS tonight; THAT you can take to the bank.

I agree 100%. Big ain't nothing if you can't move. There's no doubt about it the defensive lineman are studs. They are quick tough and relentless and I will take it to the bank cause it's better than cash at this point

This is thing bro. I go back to almost 30yrs. And watching all the different teams they have had. Never have I seen a w.o. defense dominant at line of scrimmage like this.  Yea they have had defenses more talented  over all.even the year Navasota beat them . Navasota was too much up front running or passing.nd dat team had 9 s/o.but never did I ever think they dominant up front.but lord this defense get ready !!

In all fairness WOS has not met a team like Navasota probably since  2014 Gilmer or 2013 Carthage IMO

The last two times Silsbee has came to Dan R Hooks they haven't put a point up on the board. Not worried about shutouts at all but just an interesting fact.

    In 2013 WOS 28-0

    In 2014 WOS 35-0

JMO but in 2013 Silsbee was picked to win district with their QB and several other key players. Their dreams were cut short that night at Hooks stadium. It didn't take long for the stampede to happen! No TD's not even a FG with that high powered offense! Two teams on two different levels at this point.

They may not post so much on the Carthage thread. I mean, even I have to say that I don't know of anyone that definitively has a better coach that Carthage in the state of Texas. He's made his team do the unthinkable, more than once, even when over-matched with talent.

But to add to that, you did say 4ADII, and Carthage is DI.

Well I did say who in DII could give WOS competition and also said I didn't really see anyone in DI either. I will take your advice!

Lol in case you have noticed, we don't like ANYONE saying something along the lines of "nobody can compete with (insert team name here)." Just ask the Gilmer faithful. Or really, start a post just like the one you started, just insert Gilmer's name where you had WOS's and see what happens lol.

Gilmer got beat As you know Saturday. So how about Carthage

I'm indeed from carthage and if you read my whole post, you'd is that WO-S is my pick to win it in DII, but it's not guaranteed. Heck once carthage started to roll in the playoffs last year, I thought no one could beat them until Lavega came into the picture and whooped us in every aspect of the game.

I can understand that. I realize that WOS is not invincible and many things can come to pass but these kids are very impressive to say the least. Last year was truly deserving for these kids at WOS and in their mind they will not accept anything less this year.

The only reason this thread is getting so many reads on smoaky is b/c of the stupidity of the post. WOS have been good for years and i was happy to see them finally get over that hump last year, but just a little amazed how one can ask this question when all they have played are extremely weaker teams. WOS is my favorite to win it all but I guarantee there are plenty of teams in the state who would put of the same numbers against those teams.

Well for starters they are returning almost all their starting offense and defense for last year! And honestly they really didnt have any close games and they blew out  Celina in the SC game, so why not predict WOS to win it again unless your from NE Texas
