Silsbee needs to prove you can lose the dunk count and win the game tomorrow. Because I would bet a hefty sum they ain’t winning that stat against Booker T.

Even after they “gelled,” Washington is just better. Period. Better players, superior size, and Yates never gets creative with their schemes. BTW must have had 20 dunks or more in those games against the back end of that press. JY played as well as they could have at home in the second outing and still almost lost by double digits. Silsbee has a great shot at another trip to state tomorrow. But don’t get it twisted that BTW and Yates were basically the same team at the end of the year. Line em up and play 10 right now and BTW wins at least 8 of them. Future is bright for the Lions, but through next season, HISD belongs to Booker T.

Very good analysis. I agree. BTW 5 on 5 is a decided favorite. Going to come down to whether they can hold up. Playing twice in 24 hours favors Silsbee’s depth as well. The down side is they didn’t play well today and teams of that caliber don’t usually have back to back poor outings. Silsbee on the other hand was clicking and played well. Silsbee also will be on a few less hours rest which sometimes can make a difference. Booker T plays like they did today, Silsbee by 10. Lewis will likely bounce back and play much better. He tends to get a lot of points on teams that press as well. Will come down to whether the studs score 60-70 points on the tigers and whether that will be enough.

Yes. Maybe the smartest thing Beto has done. It’s a big enough issue that it will swing a serious amount of votes imo. I don’t quite get it but there is a faction that it really moves. Single issue votes akin to some pro-lifers.

Silsbee. Next two games should be very good. I look for United to bounce back strong and could be a blowout. But of course it’s never boring watching that crew. But Silsbee should have great games here on out. Was tempted to make that drive to Lufkin to watch in person.

Merely pointing out that you can’t use the “oh my, poor Kountze was only picked for 4th because they didn’t have as much talent” argument AND say they arguably had the 2 best players in the district. Buna had a better overall season and based on the all district superlatives, Joubert had better players. But no reason to bring logic and reason into arguments on this board 😉.

Don’t use preseason predictions. If coaches are horrible at anything, it is predicting those. I mean sometimes ridiculously wrong. I heard that too many times last year with Lumberton picked 4th or whatever with a D1 player. Only an imbecile would have picked them that low. Whitmire did the best coaching job this year in that district, period and end of story. To argue otherwise? Well, would make you fit right in with those preseason district predictions.

They will need to press to just keep the ball in front of them, to just slow the ball down. Against Yates’ press, they looked like they were having a slam dunk contest on the backend of that thing. At the same time, half court set seems to favor BTW as well. Silsbee wins by attrition if they pull it off. Booker T’s studs are as skilled as Silsbee’s, they are just half a foot taller.

First half of district at home vs second half of district at Yates, correct. BTW is decidedly better than Yates. Silsbee can beat them, but I believe it will take a better performance than tonight.

Silsbee has been the class of 4A basketball in Texas for over a decade. Yates is probably next. Argyle has been really good as well. Dallas has had some really good teams obviously, but none have been as consistently dominant. Silsbee is the cream of the crop imo.
