I saw that clip too š¤¦š»āāļø Google his name and Dave Bliss

My guess would be Arkansas, Alabama or UofH. But heās been attached to an absolute clown show in the summers so who knows?

Saw the Butler kid play a summer league game Sunday and was on the red eye with him that night. Was very impressed with his game.

Even those Georgia Bulldogs know: [Hidden Content]

Clayton Allen (Class of 90). Played at D1 at Drake. He was the best of the post-King Cotton guys. Wanna say he led the state in scoring his senior year at Buna too.

Congrats to Orangefield (#16 in 3A) Lumberton (#19 in 4A) and Huffman Hargrave (#22 in 4A) for finishing the year in the top 25 in their divisions for the Lone Star Cup! The Cup represents overall athletic excellence across the board (like the NCAAās Directorās Cup). Well done to the athletes at these schools. [Hidden Content]

Still hard for me to believe Kolten Mackey never played college football. Better than a LOT of kids who did.

One of the best performances Iāve seen at state on any level. He refused to let his team loose. The same could be said for Braelon in that regional final against Yates. Itās was just an incredible performance where he left everything he had on the floor. Is this team talented? Yes. Have they done anything remotely close to those games? No. I guess you can whine about the teams coming out of Dallas or you find a way to beat them. One team did. One team hasnāt. End of story.
-
A HUGE reach would be putting it kindly. Some people donāt like being wrong. Thatās okay. The teams Silsbee ran out there the last few years wouldnāt have beaten that Dallas Carter team either. Or the 2017 Silsbee team either š. And those Yates teams were considerably better than BTW imo.
-
I just donāt think there will be anyone better in the region. BTW maybe but I still like Silsbee. However, with or without Miller, the āthis group will be better than the Adams, McCain, and Bush teamsā statements we were hearing a few years ago hasnāt aged well. As I suspected then, was clearly nonsense and based more on wishful thinking than anything else.
-
Most of us probably have them as a favorite to go to State. Thatās thinking they will be pretty darn good.

No argument here about SEC baseball being the gold standard and I would agree with you (at least I think you would agree) that the SEC has been more dominant in baseball than football. Just stating when you add arguably the bluest blood in the country in baseball, the rich get even richer.
-
But to give the Cardinal their due, they are the only school in the country that consistently has a better overall athletics department than Texas. So there is that. (Although recently Texas has gotten the best of them.
-
In the last 4 decades, Texas has 3 titles, 5 runner ups and 18 CWS appearances. And for accuracy sake, Stanford only has 2 nattys period (both in 80s) and 3 runner ups period. Texas has 6 and 6. Stanford has a great history but they aināt Texas.
-
But itās like adding Kentucky to the ACC or Big 12 in basketball or Ohio St to the SEC in football. No matter how good the league is, those additions significantly move the needle. Except in basketball, you have Kentucky, Kansas, UNC and Duke and then everyone else. In baseball, USC obviously have the most titles but in the last 30-40 years, itās Texas and LSU and then everyone else (in terms of nosebleed blue bloods).

BTW will be solid again. Lost some good players but return their best player. McDermott probably second best player in region behind Harris. But heās a big - I will always take the high major guard over the HM big at the HS level. Usually just way more impactful. But they will be a test for the Tigers anyway. As for Carter, Iām hearing WT White had the best recruiting off season. Look out 5A.
-
Really solid showing by the Lions.

Read about this on a plane last week. Immediately thought of Hagar.

Good point.

My guess is they feel the same way I do when Iāve seen it. Let him and take advantage of his preference to try to score as many points as possible while playing little defense in the half court set and NEVER boxing out. Iām sure Sutherland and the other coaches like the 5 on 4 concept when they have the ball WOS let him do it and still beat the Tigers 2 out of 3 that season. And their best player outplayed him all 3 times, despite graduating at 17 while his counterpart aged out at 21 before the next fall.
-
Just cause you can make up an argument doesnāt make it a good one or a legitimate one. Iām aware UIL signed off on it. As long as you are in resource classes (what we used to call special ed), you can be close to drinking age and playing high school sports. For those that arenāt, you better not turn 19 a couple of weeks before Sept. 1.

Knew I was forgetting someone big. He WAS on that team. As was Clay Davis. Not only were they one of the most prolific scoring teams in Texas history, they produced some dang fine coaches. And what a coaching staff.
-
For you guys who were around back there, do any of those guys on one of the best SETX teams ever deserve a mention for HJ, the record shattering ā91 team? Burke? Holmes? isabell? Who am I missing?
-
I wonder if you know how many shots he took in comparison to some of the other guys. I would think Elam is one of the all time leading scorers at Silsbee too. He was also 20 years old and probably scored at least half of his baskets snowbirding (leaking out on defense and getting uncontested layups). Stats are great but you also have to watch the games. Bosha was great. But better than a few of those other guys, no way.
