  1. I've had my eye on Lumberton for several weeks now and they have not disappointed. Very good football team on both sides of the football. A district championship and 3rd round playoff appearance echoes that. Historic territory for L-town. I think Lumberton is capable of winning this game.

That said.... Chapel Hill is a dangerous animal. They may look sloppy on film a lot of the time with turnovers and penalties and such. But make no mistake, they can score the football from anywhere on the field at any time... and their defense can absolutely get after you when they want to. Soph RB Ricky Stewart is the guy you really have to worry about. Kilgore's defense is one of the best in the state and Stewart gashed us for over 200 yds rushing. If you key on him then the QB Brisbon can hurt you just as badly with his legs and arm. They have 3 WR's that are dangerous (not even counting the D1 receiver they lost in week 10 for the season). IMO, the best player on their team is #52 who plays offensive and defensive line. They can definitely be beat, but you'll have to play very clean and be + 2 or 3 on turnovers.

Im sure yall will see alot of LCM in the wildcat. Hopefully we wont embarrass ourselves

We've all been there at some point. We had a decent, yet injury ridden season several years ago but were still relatively competitive. Jasper took us behind the woodshed in a 1st round game and we looked like we had never seen a football before.

Not familiar with Kilgore. If they have trouble stopping the run, Morris could have his way.

Kilgore is very strong against the run. That said, Chapel Hill's RB did gash us last week. He's the only one that's been able to do that.

Why did they lose 2 games, one of which was to Van?

Chapel Hill stumbled out of the gate to start the season, but.... Van was a really good football team early on. They were ravaged with injuries to key players this year. Still pretty good.

I think Chapel Hill threw 4 INT's vs Gilmer in the 1st half. But losing to Gilmer is not the end of the world. Gilmer beat Chapel Hill, Kilgore, and Lindale in non-district. And Gilmer's not even as good as Carthage is.

They thought they would steamroll LCM last year, too. Had LCM had their starting QB, they would've beat Chapel Hill. This Lumberton team is the most complete I've seen them have. Explosive on offense, tough on defense and good on special teams. Whoever beats them will have to play their A game! They will be a tough out!

Chapel Hill was a 4 seed last year with a freshman QB and freshman RB. They won the region and almost knocked off LBJ in the semi's. They are much better this year.

    Don't bite on BadSanta comments.

Team could play with anyone in Texas and I'd go watch.

Besides...nobody but your own failure in y'all's way now.  Most everybody lost tonight.

Carthage could probably go toe-to-toe with 95% of the 5A teams in Texas. But, the elite 5A-D1 and 6A teams would just be too big in the trenches for them. But as far as skill players... and probably LB's... they're as good as anybody.

Silsbee has the fastest young man in the country. And if he gets 3-4 feet ahead there ain't a Carthage player that has a chance of catching him. JS... :)

I don't think anyone will argue that Silsbee will have the fastest, maybe 2 fastest players on the field (although that Ingram kid can burn). But they will have to beat Carthage deep several times to even have a chance in this one.

I believe someone posted earlier that Carthage averages 46 ppg on O. What's more impressive than that is that their low is 41 and their high is 50. And they had to start tapping the brakes in the 3rd qtr (or sooner) in 11 of their 12 ballgames just to stay under 50. What's even more impressive than all of that is that 4 of the teams they took behind the woodshed in the regular season are playing in 4A Regional Semi-Final games this weekend.

I did a little research on Center too.....seems to me by just looking at their stats, a young man who wears #3 is their go to wide receiver...his yds. per game are outstanding.....I'm not the Tiger coach but i'm sure he knows about this guy......11 touchdowns through the air...1TD on a kickoff return

    Silsbee by 21.......GO TIGER NATION

#3 is Jaterious Evans.... committed to SFA. His older brother Octavious Evans graduated last year..... he's playing at Boise St.

The last two regular seasons Henderson is 17-3...and 2 of those 3 have been to Kilgore. Despite the misery Buddy has dished on us watching him run that offense is a thing of beauty. Dont see too many hs qb's that will make a pitch off the option at full speed 10 yards downfield.

I'm still salty about that 30-9 beatdown y'all put on us in 2015 that cost us an outright district title, lol.

I remember that downfield pitch you are talking about.... I was like what the.... good play Buddy, good play.

Yeah...it is hard to prepare for the option because you just dont see it much anymore. The scout team might be able to replicate the plays in practice but can not replicate the speed.

It's almost indefensable when we run it cleanly. Henderson's defense has been very good this year against everyone not named Carthage or Kilgore. We played clean against Hendo and the Lions got caught stunting the wrong way a few too many times.

  11. Offensively, we can go. We average around 370 rushing, 60 passing, and 40 ppg. Sr. QB Buddy Jackson makes it all go. He's not very big, but he is a 4.44 guy who doesn't miss many reads and is a pretty good passer. Leading rusher is TB Briant Mumphrey.... he averages about 10 ypc. Our top receiver is Jonathan Shepperd... 6'3" - 196#, 10.6-100 (committed to Oklahoma State). Our O-line is not huge, but they are very good.

As has been written previously on this site - and perhaps even this thread - Kilgore fell behind by 19 points to start last week's game against Bullard.  Previously, I recall them falling behind by multiple scores to Gladewater in a non-district game in September.

Did the Bulldogs fall behind early in other games this year?

Any idea why this has happened?

Bullard recovered an onside kick and a mishandled pooch kick to gain an extra couple of possessions in the 1st quarter. They scored on a couple of deep balls and another deep ball set up the 3rd TD to make it 19-0. We struggle defending the deep ball.

Gladewater had us down 21-0 in the 1st quarter as well. It took our defense a little while to adjust to their running game and I'm pretty sure we turned it over early in that one.

Those are the only two games we've trailed by more than 1 TD early.
