  1. That must be a Beaumont thing. Doesn't happen in Nederland.
  2. This is a total shock. I hope it's not true but what I'm hearing is that his mom got a new job in California. "I'm hoping she finds something better here". I know this has to be hard on him, with it being his senior year. You go from graduating with friends you've been with forever to graduating with a class you will hardly know. I understand as a parent you have to do what's best for your family. A decision like this had to be hard for the Ballou's. I wish them the best of luck. He's a great kid and will be missed.
  3. How do we even know the school shutdown in Atlanta? This again is hear say. It shows that Chris attended JetSet Language School in Atlanta. I did a Google search and i didn't see anything about it being closed. (I could be wrong or missed something) If the school closed down it's unfortunate and I'm glad they have a good home and school in bmt but if school is indeed still open, then that opens a whole new can of worms. Not sure how deep the UIL digs but I'm sure they will do the right thing.
  4. I understand the situation is strange and unfortunate for the kids from Nigeria but i would feel the same way if they just recently got a guardian that leaved in Nederland and just started living with them 2 months ago. Rules are rules and fair is fair....
  5. Dove it's simple! Ozen and HJ are basketball schools. Nederland and PNG are football schools. PA Memorial is none of the above. Lol
  6. So your telling me if Ozen would have a basketball program like Livingston or Vidor, you would of still transferred your boys there?
  7. We all know his boys went to Ozen for athletic purposes, but they played JV there first year just like the 7'3" kid is going to do.
  8. He will as long as Nederland is selling popcorn. He loves him some Nederland popcorn!
  9. Nederland battled with Sam Houston until the last few minutes. It was a 6 point difference for most of the game then it got to 10 and Nederland started fouling. Nederland had way to many turnovers, once they clean that up they will be tough for any team.
  10. Strong field of teams in this tournament, i see we have some local teams in it! Central, Ozen and Nederland. Good Luck!
  11. I hope it works out but I'm sure your aware that shooting good at the middle school level doesn't always translate into good shooting at the Varsity level.
  12. Silsbee better not sleep on HJ. I can see them two splitting this year. The last a checked Silsbee's not the best outside shooting team, so teams who can handle the press with minamal turnovers and pack the paint to force outside shots will have a good shot of beating them.
  13. Ned went 4 and 0. Wins over Port Arthur, Kelly, Lufkin and Big Sandy
  14. Also it not about basketball, there in a much better situation now.
  15. Yes I agree! They should play all the JV basketball they want this year. It will work out for them. There going to get there looks from summer ball anyway.
  16. I understand that but how was one made aware of there situation? Was there guardian in Atlanta friends or related to there now new guardian?
  17. ^ This... Can someone answer this question. I'm curious to know what happened to the kids guardian in Atlanta. Is it that easy to switch guardians?
  18. I heard Nederland was 3 and 0 Central was 2 and 1 Silsbee was 2 and 1 and haven't got word on Ozen
  19. If his guardian has a son that goes to Kelly, then why couldn't he get him enrolled the first day of school when his son started? I am not a smart person but that doesn't make sense to me. Surely his guardian was well aware of his school being shutdown before school started.
  20. oh ok! maybe so.. what's the dill with all these kids wanting to move to Kelly?
  21. True Dove! but i would think it would be less red tape for a private school than a public school. I could be wrong!
  22. ^ This.. The young man has been in states playing on the AAU Circuit for the last 2 years. This young man will be playing college basketball somewhere regardless if he has to play one year of JV basketball. IMO that's the reason he tried getting into Kelly, there a private school no questions asked. Public school is a different story. I also heard that this kid isn't the only new face at Central. I also heard that they got a 6 foot 5 from Cleveland who was also trying to go the Kelly! Don't know if that is true.
  23. That's just all the more reason for other teams in the district to abject to the 7' 3" recruit.
