I don't buy the 2nd game of the season stuff. These BB specialists have done nothing but play BB for the last three years straight, around the clock, with no other interruptions. That is one reason they caught Central and Ozen looking early in district last year. This year all of Ozen and Central's players are already on the court priming for district. Ned will be competitive in district, but their ball handlers are going to have a lot of trouble with the guards from Ozen and Central. Absolutely no aggression last night and young English needs to listen to dad more and start shooting.
As far as my 2nd game comment, I was only saying that bc we have a long season ahead, and one game the season doesn't make (for either team). I agree, English needs to listen to his dad/coach and shoot the darn ball!!  >:(
I agree, Zach needs to stop thinking about it and just let it fly.... you can't score if you don't shoot.  He is more than able to put up 16 or more points a night... look at the kid for HJ last night #12.. he missed his first 3 shots and 2 were three pointers but he didnt lose his confidence he kept shooting and knocked down his next 4 shots.... 3 of them from 3 pt land.  In this game you got to have confidence and a short memory...
And......easier said than done!!!
#12 sure made it look easy!!!!! LOL

 3.
Nederland will be okay. HJ was hot last night and Nederland wasn't. Good to lose now and work the kinks out before district. HJ and Silsbee as predicted will own their district again.
I agree, this Nederland team want have too many poor shooting nights as they did last night. I think someone said 3-22 on three's. NOT GOOD............
 4. HJ teams in the past would normally beat Nederland by there press, last night Nederland had no problem breaking the press. Nederland needs to get more aggressive once they break the press and go get some layups.  Last night HJ team shot lights out.  I would like to know what there shooting percentage was. This game wasnt about turnovers, it was about a hot shooting HJ team vs a bad shooting night for Nederland. Nederland had plenty of scoring chances they just couldnt get anything to fall. Keep your heads up, these kind of games happen from time to time.
 5. Looks like Ozen got the easier bracket through the first two games.
Please don't overlook HJ. [s]They are a good team.[/s] HMM![s] A well coached team.[/s] Oh, I got it now. One of the top teams in Sour Lake!!
Trust me they want be overlooked, that's why i pick Nederland.  Nederland knows they have to be focused and ready to play. This game want be handed to them, they will earn there victory tonight.

It appears someone is trying to say how good ned freshmans are they are good and the coach son on that team is good ,English and his dad English is a good coach he was a good coach at Vidor, but what you need to say if you are trying to say how WB jv should act remember KING 8th graders played your now 9th graders and beat them by 40 pts last year when you guys had said that they had never lost and also remember that Central beat your varsity last year with 3 freshmans playing and this year two of the 8th graders that beat your now freshmans  or now varsity freshmans that were 8th graders on that King team and would beat your freshman 10 out of 10 times if they played freshman ball but they will see your varsity, and the other three starters that when to Ozen would beat your freshman 10 out of 10 times so up lift your freshman but dont forget.
It is okay to punctuate occasionally.  Doing so generally makes your posts much easier to "understand".
Also, how does the behavior of WB JV (which was not bad, very respectfull group of boys) have to do with anything related to the CO and King game last year?
 9.
That 2016 class got beat by 40 pts by KING last year and if the 2016 class of both Ozen and Central played them 10 times in the next 4 years  they would BEAT them 10 times so let them have fun playing freshman ball
Trust me they still remember, but also know this. This is not the same team king played a year ago. The king team also split up and some went to ozen and some to central. The king team was a very talanted group and a big group of boys. The large part of that win was rebounding and CO had no chance giving up such a height and size advantage. The CO boys were much smaller than the king group but alot of the CO boys are starting to mature and hitting there growth spirts. They have grown alot physical and mentally over the last year and still have a long ways to go. This group also has some new additions to the team as well.  So this is not the same Ned team at all!
 10.

Congrats to Ned Freshman.    The boys have to except their coaches decision not to play their JV, and the WB boys have to except that they lost to a freshman group and got in because of an adult decision .  Can the adults of this forum except it ?  They were excited they won a game, after losing to a freshman group earlier and they are young men. Shall we continue to bash them for an adult decision or be thankful they got to play one more game and work on skills?
I agree. Too many people think they know more than coaches know what is best for their program. I was not at the Champ game, but you can't blame a group of kids for being excited for winning a game. As long as they were not taunting our boys/fans, im okay with KIDS being excited. Even if Ned Fresh had not forfeited the game, WB JV would have played OF JV for the 3rd place game, so they would have played Saturday regardless.
I think everyone is missing the point! I dont believe anyone is questioning the decision to let Westbrook play Ned JV in the championship game. IMO i think it was the right move and so does many other fans and parents, but if i were the WB JV coach (which i am not) i would have given up the 1st place trophy. Only because how i got to the championship game to begin with, by a decision made by adults. I don't blame the Westbrook boys of being happy, they won the game against a good Ned JV team.
 11.

???
He is saying that bc Ned Freshman beat WB JV yesterday, then WB JV beat Ned JV today and they are celebrating (maybe excessively, I don't know).
Exactly... Coach English didnt want the freshman and JV teams to play each other in the championship, so WB (who the NED Frehman beat) played in their spot in the championship.  NED freshman beat OF and finished the tournament 4-0.  Freshman got the third place trophy while WB walked out with the First Place Trophy celebrating like they won the NBA Finals.
I guess Nederland should be mentioned with as much respect towards basketball. I mean look at what they have accomplished: 20-4A District Champs 2010-2012 Bi-District Champs 2010-2012 Area Champs 2010-2012 Regional Quarter Finalist 2010-2012 Regional Semi-Finalist 2011 8) I couldn't agree more. IMO the Westbrook coach missed a great opportunity to show some real class. TBH if i knew i lost to a very good freshman team and was only in the Championship game because Coach E didn't want both his teams playing each other, i would have given the trophy to the Freshman team and took home the 3rd place trophy. " But that's just me" I am curious of others thoughts on this!
 12. Nederland's Freshman beat OF JV 67 to 32..... Great job Freshman Dog's  They went 4-0 in the JV bracket beating Buna, Bridge City and Westbrook. They let Westbrook play in there spot to allow them to play Nederlands JV for the Championship.  Final of that game 56-49 Westbrook. Westbrook walks away with 1st place trophy. IMO i think Westbrook should of handed over the 1st place trophy to team that beat them.
 13. It has been confirmed that Ned Freshman will not play the Ned JV tomorrow for the championship game. Ned Freshman will play Orange Field at 12 and Ned JV will play Westbrook at 1:20. The decision was made in the best interest of the program. I personally agree with the decision...
 14. Nederland Freshman (playing in JV bracket) beat Buna 69  16  The boys started off slow but got it going. Next game is at 4 pm at BC  HS  vs the winner of BC and Kelly
