1. My thought is that you bring up the underclassmen to give him experience on the varsity level. Part of that decision is based on what your group of juniors look like also.  If your team is going to be Junior loaded the following year, then it would be nice to have a year of varsity experience under your belt.  I think if you have a underclass that can bring the same or equal to what a senior that would be a sub you go with the underclassmen to build for the future. I think playing time has little effect on what gets them ready for the next year.  I think its more of the level of competition that gets you ready, not quantity but quality.

Hope he finds a good 'fit'.
hMMM? You stated:  "Which seniors do we project will sign with someone? Any predictions?"
Oh, gotcha. That's YOUR prediction. Sorry about that. ;) Lamar may be a good fit for him.
He is not good enough for the Southland
:o :o..The SOUTHLAND is one of the two WORST Division I conferences in the COUNTRY! Not good enough for THEM? PLEASE!  ::)...I like Zach's game a lot. He may need a RS year to get some weight  and strength on him, but the kid can play.
I agree. He needs to put on 12-15 lbs of muscle in order to play at the next level. It can easily be achieved over the summer with the right guidance and dedication. He has the skills, but lacks the physicality, IMO.
..if he can dribble without bouncing it off his sneaker...he can play at LU
LOL... Poor Lamar... It would be harder to make the Port Arthur Sea Hawks team than LU.
 4. I think everyone is missing the point of MVP!  You have to consider also what the team would have done without that particular person.  Take Weisbrod off of Nederland and they probably don't make the playoffs. There are several others IMO that could be MVP but if you remove them from there teams they are more likely to finish in the same position they did because of there surrounding talent. IMO....
 5. It's funny to read some of the comments on here about Centrals head coach!  I can remember very clearly at the Nederland Vs Central game the announcer introducing coach Lee as the Legend!  Now they want to fire him?  LMAO
 6. Well deserved write up for Wyatt.  He is a good kid. He introduces himself and tells me hello every time i see him. I wish him the best of luck after high school.

When you can maneuver players from an entire city with enrollment enough for 3 high schools, playing against 4a schools seems a bit slanted now doesn't it?
What's the difference between a Beaumont eighth grader choosing to go to Ozen or Central and a Port Arthur eighth grader choosing to go to Nederland High School?
The PA kid has no choice. If he lives in PAISD, he goes to PAISD. If he lives in NISD, he goes there. Huge difference.
So no PA eighth grader ever transferred to NISD for highschool?
I never said that. However, in order to do so, one must show proof of living within the boundaries of NISD. One cannot live within PAISD and choose to attend NISD. There is no choice of which school they wish to attend as it is in Beaumont.
Well "legally" in Beaumont you don't get to choose either. You have to live in the high school's zone or qualify for the high school's magnet program. And yes "proof" is required.
I thought BISD had open enrollment? According to their website: BEAUMONT ISD STUDENT TRANSFER NOTIFICATION BEAUMONT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION BUILDING DEPARTMENT OF STUDENT SERVICES 3395 HARRISON AVE.  77706 PHONE 617-5109 All parents/guardians of students attending schools in B.I.S.D. are afforded the opportunity to request transfer to the school of their choice.
And that's not the same as a kid transferring into NISD?
Which kid transferred to Nederland?
I'm not stating a specific kid. I'm talking about the statements of BISD being a open enrollment district where the kids get to choose what high school they want to go to. There are rules in place that have to be followed. Yes you can request a transfer but, the enrollment rules in BISD doesn't give any Beaumont high school an athletic advantage like some on here imply.
Everyone has an opinion on whether or not there is an advantage. That's an entire different topic, and that is not what we are discussing here. I answered your question on how the rules in BISD are different in NISD. You seemed to think they were equal, while clearly they are not. BISD has open enrollment while NISD does not have that luxury.
How is it open enrollment if the student has to request a transfer?
Yeoj your just not getting it!  In beaumont you can request a transfer and be accepted without physicaly moving where you live. If a PA kid wanted to attend Nederland He or She would have to move/sell  there home and buy one in the NISD school zone.  Do you see the difference?

The truth is that Boutte and English are great coaches.  Also you can't compare records to both these coaches.  They do the best they can with the talent there given. Do you guys honestly think that any team in 20-4A is state championship contender? Heck no not even close and it will show in the playoffs...stop trying to say the reason Ozen isn't dominating is because the talent is spread all over Beaumont because it has always  been that way WB has had studs and Central has had STUD its just that when it came down to who had the better PROGRAM it wasn't even close Ozen isn't the same program because of the guy who took over the program its that simple and the proofs in the pudding...Think about it when was the last time Ozen won district outright? Under bouttee...Ozen first lost in history to central was under who? Saveat are you starting to see a trend here?
You want some cheese with your whine  :'( :'( :'(
What the heck does signing D1 in football have to do with Ozen hoops?  You're losing credibility again.  Smh In the playoffs, a win is a win.  All teams are good.  I think a 4 typing playoff run ended by a loss to a Jones or a Yates would be the same as a 4 round push having beat a Jones or Yates in the second round.  Point being, it doesn't matter who you play, it's all about keep winning, which last years Ozen team did.  Don't let your hate for Saveat cause you to discredit those kid's accomplishments.  They did make it farther in the playoffs than Nederland AND Central with a subpar coach as you put it AND being a third place team...
I guess you missed my statement about me actually PLAYING FOR OZEN bball team and you said i barely knew about football and my rebuttal was I signed a D-1 scholarship to play FOOTBALL...I would like to hear your credentials in sports  :-\ as far as Ozen making it further than Nederland in the playoffs that is not considered an accomplishment to us Ozen fans who've watched the glory days at Ozen and the tradition that program was built upon...beating Nederland is supposed to be a sure thing when your playing for Ozen and it was until Saveat took over I don't see what you guys don't see here I don't dislike Saveat as a person he's just not fit for the job at Ozen and its been showing for 4 years now soulja your giving ozen credit for making it to regionals anything short of a state title appearance or championship is considered a failure at Ozen...but i see why you view that as an accomplishment since your a central fan you guys aren't used to a winning tradition on the hardwood
Do you belive Ozen would be undefeated at this point if Boutte was still the coach?
I believe the answer to this question is obvious...in district absolutely when the players don't respect you as a coach then you won't be very successful its simple Ozen isn't losing because of the lack of talent their losing because of the lack of discipline being instilled in the program
Name another game changer on Ozen's roster other than Jordan Hunter. Yes the Panthers have some good hard working players but, one game changer!
Ummmm does Jacobi Jones ring a bell?
Lol... And in some years MORE than we did at Ozen. This year Central has GREAT young talent, but the only way Nederland has ANY shot at beating them is the fact that Brian English is a much better coach than Central's coach...MUCH BETTER. With the right guy on the Central sideline, they blow that district away, UNDEFEATED. JUST like we did.... ;)
Let me  pose this question to you Dickie.  If Boutte was at Ozen and you were at Central, who would win the head to head matches and who would win the district title? 23.
IMO, the difference maker in this game was Jared Lormier for Nederland. The kid came to play tonight. He was aggressive on both ends of the court. He scored 9 points and was a spark for the team. English finished with 20 and Weisbrod had 14. Both played really big again. We've come to expect the two of them to produce like that, and they did not disappoint tonight. Jamiere Rodgers also played with a lot more aggression which made a big difference. Good team win!! I felt that Ned's D caused havoc for Ozen. Ozen became impatient and forced too many contested shots. Many of Ozen's points came from layups off of steals. We must protect the ball better. Hunter made some phenomenal shots on drives to the bucket. Not sure if Ozen made any 3s all game?? The dunk off the miss was impressive to say the least. Who is #24? Someone said he is a Soph?? That kid got up!!
I agree. If you look at my post on the who you got Ozen and Nederland post. I predicted Nederland to win by 5 and that Lormier and Rogers would play big.  I think the biggest play of the night was when Ozen scored and went up by 2 less than a minute and Nederland came down the floor and J Jones got a steal and had a break away and Lormier made a great hussle play and pinned his shot to the back board. I think they had to use a new basketball after that play, Lormier knocked all the air out of the ball.. LOL
 24. Great win dogs!!!!!!! As i predicted by 5..........Victory is sweet!!!!!  The "official" not officials was terrible tonight. (2 out of the 3 did a fair job). I love the travel call on English at the end of the game when a Ozen player pushed him down. That was 1 of MANY bad calls by the same official. The bottom line is the better team won tonight regardless and now they have to get ready and go take it to Central.  The district titles are getting a little brighter.. Right Dove?  ;D  ;D
