  1. He currently coaches TE's and Inside Receivers, but has coached OL, RB, QB and WR at all levels, including college. Duncanville currently runs the Lake Travis offense, which isn't too shabby. Something that PN-G would probably be interested in getting on the Reservation! Dang, this guy has a good resume. Anything with the words "Lake Travis" attached gets attention. Do you know if he has ever been a HC/AD? I keep hearing his name being mentioned over and over........ Duncanville is 4A, right? How old is he? Sounds like he's got a lot of substance. Any other info you know about him, why he's wanting to change, years as a HC, W-L record, etc? Duncanville is 5A and with Jeff Dicus at the helm, will again become a powerhouse like they were in the late 90's. 1998 was the year they won state in Football and Basketball and made it to the finals in Baseball. He is in his late 30's...39 I think. They are running the same offense and defense that Lake Travis runs, plus Jeff Dicus is doing the same thing at Duncanville that he did at Lake Travis, making champions. Something that Garrett I'm sure has picked up on while being at Duncanville. Garrett has been a champion as a player, (two years at Plano....86 & 87) and he won a national championship as a coach while coaching WR's at the junior college level, using the Jenks' offense. He has never been a head coach, but is definitely capable of being a great one. Oh...I almost forgot...he was a squad leader in Desert Storm while serving in the Marines. Yeah...he's got a "little bit" of leadership experience! Impressive. I like the sounds of this guy. Any other opinons? C'mon, this is PNG we're talking about....opinions matter!

  3. Chris Garrett is a TE coach, right? Seems like I read that on an earlier post.
  4. I feel the top three vote getters are Danaher, Vance, and Chris Garrett, from what I'm hearing. I just want a COACH!
  5. Gabe, either there are a LOT of folks afraid PNG will hire Stump, or, that PNG will hire off the list, or, that there is a conspiracy in the brewing, or......or......or.....it doesnt matter! Most of these folks like to "bash" PNG no matter what..........hmmm.....better watch it, some of "your" coaches may quit and PNG will have thier turn for bashing! However, PNG wouldn't stoop that low. No matter what, PNG stands for the HONOR, PRIDE, and TRADITION that has always and will always be the the catalyst that keeps drawing our huge fan base.
  6. I find it ironic that Halliburton will be singing Matt's praises. When Matt was the head coach, Halliburton had nothing POSITIVE to say about Matt or the Indians. Of ALL the sportswriters in Southeast Texas, Halliburton has shown his "hatred" of PNG time and time again. Even when PNG was winning district championships, state playoffs, and STATE championships, Halliburton was always "irked" to give PNG any positive recognition. Though I support Nederland, everyone knows that the Bulldogs are Halliburtons team and he goes over and beyond to sing thier praises, which, in all reality is "sickening" to some of the Bulldog loyals. This praise of Burnett by Halliburton has no substance because of the writer himself. Yes, the Indians of PNG will have a new coach this year, will rebuild, and earn the respect we once had and enjoyed. We don't need the likes of Tom Halliburton singing our praises because we know how how truthfully he really feels. This article is a "wash"......."fake" substance from a writer who truly hates the Indians. Matt Burnett is a GREAT guy and was a GREAT coach and will continue to support and be a PART of PNG. I like Matt a whole lot and have the utmost respect for him. I just think this article should have been written by someone else other than Halliburton.
  7. Kinda torn on that one....I think there are three names they would be interested in....Danaher, Vance, and Garrett. However, when you analyze these guys, who knows. Heard today the board has pretty much decided on their guy, and he's NOT from our area.
  8. Smitty, rumors are swirling. I just want it over and have a new coach in place and start thinking about next year. At this point, who cares anymore....just get us a coach!
  9. Ok, if PNG is holding out for Stump, whats the BIG deal? This happens all the time in districts. Stump would be GREAT for the PNG program, but I just don't think PNG is holding out for him.......
  10. Its a rumor.....even though, MANY wish it weren't! :
  11. LOL ! I don't think stop playing "Cherokee" for 2 or 3 minutes will ever happen.......!
  12. Dayton, you're exactly right. Me, being one of the PNG fans that got upset when the bashing against my school, played right into the "bashers" hands.....they, the bashers, walked away with the victory. However, like so many, I will defend my school on a public forum.
  13. Get it though your head PNG BROKE NO LAWS!!!!!!!!!!!! They're not going to listen. The media was against PNG because of curiosity of the coaches that applied. And now, that the list is revealed, it's like throwing meat to a hungry pack of wolves. From what I've heard, (and I didn't watch the discussion because it was a waste of time), Klein says a whole lot without saying a dang thing....."typical" polictician. Ok, the list is out, now what are you going to hate on PNG about? I'm sure you will come up with something. The "masters" thing, as so many call it, is required because, for the FINAL time, the position is titled HC/AD......AD is an administrative position and requires a Masters' Degree. PNG>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>HONOR..............PRIDE...............TRADITION !
  14. I agree.......I think Chris Garrett should definitely be in the mix of the finalist.
  15. Didn't watch the discussion last night. I figured, with the exception of Gabe, it would be a TOTAL waste of time. From what I have heard, I was correct in my assumption. PNG>>>>>>>>>>>HONOR.............PRIDE...............TRADITION !
  16. Thanks coop So we have an LCM and 2 PNG guys and then Haliburton who bleeds purple and white, so I don't see a problem. Halliburton "bleeds" purple and white? Since when? Oh, I get it, sarcasm at its best! LOL !
  17. I highly doubt that. If that was the case why would they even interview the five finalist. Why wouldn't they just hire this coach? On top of that, the interviews have never even been made official by PNGISD. That is all message board / blog chatter. I highly doubt PNGISD is interviewing five candidates over the course of today and tomorrow at the direction of some coach who is calling all the shots. WHAT IS SEEING THE LIST GOING TO PROVE? PNGISD is going to hire the best candidate. This round table discussion is not going to amount to anything more than a chance for the media members to ridicule and bash PNGISD. Let's just hope they got ALL their facts straight before they start ripping them. A lot of credibility can be lost quickly airing out dirty laundry that is fabricated and not based in fact. Other than this roundtable discussion being nothing more than a waste of time and the chance to "bash" PNG by the media, I think it will prove one huge point: That is, the media in Southeast Texas has stooped to the lowest of lows in "ripping" a local school district and will lose ALL credibility for future coverage and respect.
  18. I agree with these and I would add Chris Garrett from Duncanville......younger and enthusiastic with a good ideas, excellent TE coach as well, from what I hear.
  19. I think Southeast Texas will be surprised with the new HC/AD at PNG, and I think it will be someone we least expect. The indian spirits are covering The Reservation and I feel nothing but blessings coming PNG's way in the future from our new HC/AD. PNG>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Honor...............Pride...............Tradition.........simply "PRICELESS!"
  20. For all you bashers that thought PNG was holding out, for, "you know who", the one applicant you thought we were holding out for, well, you were wrong....now, live in peace, you got what you wanted. Now, give PNG a break....let the healing begin!
