  1. I'm thinking this would result in the formation of approximately 14,000 new threads between 11 p.m. friday and 2 a.m. saturday
  2. ehh, boston got theirs a few years ago... besides the rockies are going to win anyway.
  3. I'm going lumberton. They're undefeated, and and probably a win against png or nederland away from essentially clinching a playoff birth (although they might not even need a win against either). I'm not impressed overall with the schedule they've played so far, but i have been impressed with how they've stepped up for the few big games they have had, and also with how well the coaches seem to have them prepared every week. They've gone from a team that couldn't beat decent teams to a team that can beat anyone, and they've done it in one year. Last year, they started off well, and turned out to be pretenders. This year, they've already proven they're contenders with wins over traditional powers central and dayton. although i think their two biggest tests are still to come with png and nederland, they don't need to win those to prove to me that they've made the biggest turnaround.
  4. I'm leaning towards png. i would be surprised if lumberton won, but not shocked.
  5. if tuna is the "chicken of the sea", then jacks are the skunks
  6. i definitely see your point... I played at HJ back in 98-01, and we actually had some reasonably competitive teams back then. we were in a weaker district, but we competed fairly well. I would have loved to gotten to play against other 3a teams, we could've gone far in playoffs IMO.
  7. i think lumberton must win to prove that they've truly made the jump to an elite team. we all know that they're good, but lumberton fans want people to think they're great. if lumberton wins this game there should not be a single fan on this whole forum who says anything else about: 1. Lumberton being overrated 2. Lumberton being a fluke 3. Lumberton's lack of a strong schedule 4. Lumberton's fans wanting too much respect Win this game lumberton, and you take over sole possession of first, having beaten the only other undefeated team in the district. noone can talk about central not being good this year, or dayton's players being hurt. PNG is very good, and healthy. win this game, and you prove that you are the BEST team in the district.
  8. I'm an HJ alum, and i try to root for them, but who would they realistically beat? The only team i can see is orangefield, but last they proved they can play with some of the better teams in the district, and HJ is not one of the better teams in the district. HJ's wins this season are all by a few points against really, really bad opponents... there isn't anyone left on their schedule who is really, really bad (i would've said orangefield, but look what they did last week. HJ might be their only win of the year).
  9. dang, does this mean i can't hate him anymore?
  10. Kirbyville wins big, but HJ gets on the scoreboard this week. Kirbyville 41 HJ 12
  11. I played D-3 college soccer, and the top 6 teams from my conference made the conference tourney. it was a little different format than what you are saying, but when it came down to it, the tourney final was ALWAYS between two of the top 3-4 teams. In the same sense, the gap between 1st place and 6th place is huge in this district. I don't think you'd have to worry about any major upsets.
  12. I don't think it will help them, as they have so much momentum already, and they will surely lose some with that long of a rest. Of course, their rotation will be set and their bullpen will be very fresh.
  13. Absolutely... on a regular basis, i think it would probably change from year to year, depending on the talent level for each team.
  14. What do we have left, a week now?
  15. Hardkountzerton
  16. Kenny Lofton's been a monster this year.
  17. I think lumberton deserves to be towards the top, but i'd still like to see them beat PNG and Nederland before they're placed ahead of them... I know they're undefeated, but their schedule could've been a little stronger... i think 3rd or 4th might be better right now, with the understanding that if they take PNG or Ned down, that they leapfrog them in the standings... I also believe that if they beat Nederland AND PNG, they should be ranked 1st. i don't think they can beat WB head's up, but if they run the table in district, they deserve to be crowned the best team in the area (unless WB goes undefeated in district as well).
  18. i don't know... i would've put them ahead of the rangers and pirates, at least...
  19. most people expected central to be a really good team this year. they've been beaten (pretty convincingly) by really good teams two weeks in a row now. people are not going to keep talking about them like they're really good. it doesn't matter that the second loss was to lumberton... had it been to png or dayton, people would still be talking about them the same way.
  20. I've been more than impressed with ya'll this year, and surprised a few times too. That has nothing to do with the fact that i just don't see PNG losing to both ya'll and dayton.
  21. WB PNG WOS L-town Kelly Nederland/Dayton EC
  22. great... can't wait to play them next year.
  23. really? i would be surprised if png didn't at least split those two games, and coming off a HUGE win against the bulldogs, i wouldn't be surprised if they won them both.
