TENAHA TOURNEY THREAD, Dec. 27-29/Post updates here
bullets13 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I hunt in avinger. Population 444, won state 4-5 years ago and then coach defected to Jefferson and took all of his best players with him. They’re actually having a pretty good season this year, which is good to see -
That’s the best full team performance I can remember since probably the early 90s. And I was bout 8 years old then, and don’t really remember that well.
-
Tough to judge the irony. I know (knew) 5 holdouts who didn’t make it to omicron, and 3 people who didn’t make it long enough to decide whether to hold out or not.
-
Realistically, that’s what we want COVID to turn into, right? Hopefully something that you can get over in a couple of days, and not have to miss two weeks of work. Glad this version appears to be much more mild that the previous ones.
-
Hopefully this strand stays the dominant one. Then the vaccine can become like the flu shot, a yearly booster for folks who want to reduce the odds of getting sick, and not a dividing tool used by politicians for pushing agendas
-
Yup. We ended up coming home. Made a 12-hour drive with all our Christmas stuff and my wife and kids flew. Had our second and third cases at the in-laws house pop up yesterday morning. We decided that we’d rather get sick at home if it’s going to happen, and our girls’ insurance is only valid in Texas if they end up needing to go the doctor. Christmas was going to suck anyway if everyone was stuck in their rooms. We picked that option over just saying “screw it” and turning the whole thing into an omicron party. Hoping if I do get it (pretty high probability at this point) it happens quick enough that I’m able to go back to work directly after the holidays

If this proves to be as mild as it seems it might be, this could be a best case scenario. It sure would be nice if a much weaker version of the virus took over and became basically a different version of the flu. I’m stuck in a house right now with someone who’s got it, and he had a fever for a couple of hours and felt like he had a sinus infection for a couple of days. By day 3 he felt completely normal, with no infusion or anything special, only a z-pack and baby aspirin. If I’m going to get COVID (which is probable, because my in-laws aren’t even being slightly cautious about him being sick), this is the kind of COVID case I want.

Man, i remember his mom bringing him to come trick or treat at our house when he was 3-4. It’s been pretty cool watching him grow up and turn into a heck of a player -
Little Cypress-Mauriceville 66 Houston Yates 86/FINAL

They’re definitely down this year. Already lost two district games, one by almost 40. Not sure if they’ve had COVID issues or something, but they’d lost two district games in a row before beating LCM. I think my takeaway is that Yates is down, and LCM is up, but the gap is too great for those factors to affect the result. -

Thread sure is quiet. Figured we’d have some excuses by now. -
Hardin-Jefferson 53 Silsbee 77/FINAL

Saw HJ at their absolute best and absolute worst in the same game. I came away from this game believing the two things I believed going into it: 1. Silsbee is the better team 2. If HJ puts a full game together against them they’re good enough to upset them if they meet again -
Hamshire-Fannett 60 Hardin-Jefferson 70/FINAL

Could also be that to some degree you’re watching it as a dad more than a coach. -
Just kidding around. But it does pose an interesting question: if reasonable force is allowed to retrieve a wallet, which could then lead to a self defense claim, perhaps if the situation is the same but with weed the judge may have decided on leniency? Stupid comments about the defendant and all

Westlake scored 17 points in about 4 game minutes and is up 16 with the ball. Milking the clock. It’s insane how good they’ve been the past 3 seasons -

Guyer surprisingly up 14-13 at the half over westlake. Westlake punted 4 times and turned the ball over twice in the first half. Be curious the last time they had 6 empty possessions in a half.
