Mouse, may I ask, with respect, which school's coaching staff you would recommend as a staff for SETX schools to look up to? By this I mean, which program is in the state tournament year in and year out as an example other staffs need to follow.
Also I moved to SETX from north of Austin and the football was not near as good there as it is here.

aledo, katy, allen, desoto, cibalo steele, SLC, lamar, to name a few. like someone  mentioned before, stump was one of those type of coaches. i believe if he stayed at WB, they would for sure be that team to make it 4+ rds every other year or so. bryan erwin, former LM coach is another one.

MOUSE LM struggled 1st half score 13 7 half time.

#1 LM offense is a ball control offense. not a quick score. alot of that is due to LM eating clock.

#2 this is the second time the two teams have met this year. unlike bias wos donkey fans, i give credit where credit is due. sweeny made adjustments, but was still to unable to stop LM.in reality, two missed xp by a freshman kicker and not going for the jugular when LM was in the red zone with under a minute left in the game, score could or should have been 28-7.

No, but we're on a West Orange vs. La Marque game thread where you discuss LM and WO-S, not HJ and La Grange. But, you still haven't addressed anything I've said. Your prediction of Bellville being off by 38 points? How did WO-S struggle? Who did La Marque "play up?" SETX has more teams than anyone else in region three, yet they aren't as good? I'll wait. If you have no rebuttal, please just admit it instead of shying away from it. It's getting a bit ridiculous.

first of all, i'm being nice and allowing those teams left to be included. setx DOES NOT  INCLUDE jasper, newton, kirbyville, NORTH SHORE, or Crosby. these are just in because of the "coverage" area. wos,HJ, and EC is what you really have. for those of us OLD enough, know what or who true setx football is. golden triangle. chambers,hardin, jefferson, liberty, and orange counties.. I wasn't at the WOS game last week. was getting updates and 14-14 at halftime is a struggle. at one point wos trailed. wos pulled away in the 4th. 3 qtrs the game was close. that's a  struggle for a so called powerhouse has been. i don't care about being wrong on a score. point is, you done this week chicken hawk. you speak as if LM got blown out against TC. a rivalry game that could have gone either way. LM plays up when needed. haven't had to do this year. they have a bad habit of playing down to teams who have no business on a football field with them. now go stand in the corner jr.

The Ultimate goal for any football team is to win a state championship every year, how realistic is it to expect teams really to do? Many factors have to be considered when you start discussing firing coaches, first what district is going to fire a coach when he wins district year after year, followed by making runs deep to 3^rd and 4^th rounds. Not too many! There is no corruptions at WOS, PNG, and teams in our area with Superintendents and people in management positions in our districts. Too bad for the kids if that happens in LaMarque. Sometimes, coaching staffs do need adjustment, however, moving a head coach who is a winner is bad decision making.   

who said fire them??? i said let it be known to step there game up and do better and not accept mediocrity.  what the heck corrupted superintendents have to do with football? the only reason that was brought up for lamarque because someone was asking why the town was the way it was. so a "winner" to you is a district title that you get for playing bad teams.(HJ,HF, and OF are not consistently good every year.) a "winner" is someone who does nothing to get over that hump that stops them. why WOS can't make it to the big dance?? seems like 4th rd and that's it. EVERY YEAR. oh, i know what it is. you believe that wos is usually the last team standing, you are the best and no one better challenge the coach. well with that thought process, that area will NEVER dominate football. just good football among avg to below avg teams.

How else do you compare teams, then? I know none of it matters come Friday, but it gives us a look into what we can expect from the game. That's why I bring it up. And no, I'm not jumping on the West Orange bandwagon, I just support local teams in the playoffs.

 

Now to your playing up vs. playing down comment - La Marque didn't play up at all. Their only quality opponent faced was Texas City, and you see what happened there.

 

How did West Orange struggle? Wasn't there a few bad plays that kept Giddings in the game? One kick return gave Giddings their only TD in the first half. A few first half stats - (Although be warned, there are numbers here. I know you struggle with those) West Orange had 244 yards on offense, Giddings had 77. West Orange almost scored before the half, too. I know you didn't keep up with it, so it just seemed like a struggle. Giddings had ONE drive to score against West Orange early in the second half, and then were put away. They couldn't even score when they had a 14 yard field. I wasn't even there and I can see that West Orange totally controlled the game.

 

It's funny though. If HJ loses and WO-S beats La Marque this week, you'll still come out with, "oh it doesn't matter, they won't get past La Grange." You won't even man up and admit you were wrong, you'll just move on to your next ridiculous prediction about how a SETX team is going to get blown out by someone somewhere else. I REALLY hope HJ wins this week, because I can't wait to see the amount of crow you would have to eat. Just so you know, an HJ and WO-S win this week means you lose your bet. You still haven't eaten your share from the HJ/Bellville game. Wasn't your prediction a 28 point swing in Bellville's favor? Flat out wrong. That means you were off by what? 38 points? Yeah. Sure thing. As much as you try to avoid them, numbers don't lie.

it does SUCK, SETX football...now how you compare teams??? strengthens and weaknesses. not because one team looked another way against this team. it's the same reason FSU is still in the top 4. i think they should be out, but they win. doesn't matter what the game "looked" like or the score, they win and find a way to win. i will say wos kicking game is better than LM. the kicker is a freshman learning how to kick. i give the nod wos qb over the LM qb. LM qb isn't bad, but wos might be a little better. running backs go to LM, but not by much. LM offensive line gets the nod over WOS. WOS linbackers get the nod over LM linebackers. WOS secondary gets the nod over LM. WR's probably even. when LM need a catch, they come through. coaching, WOS. Defensive line,i say will be a draw as well. that's how I messure two team that has never played each other.

The Giddings’s game was slow due to the rain. The field was wet, and there was a light drizzle during the 1^st quarter.  They, (Giddings) was a solid team, with big beefy guys on OF line we wore them down :-) Like LaMarque, they had a speedy backfield too. Look, I am sure LaMarque will have their moments in the game when they will look like they can hang with the Stangs.  With that said, we too remember the times when LaMarque had their glory days, and beat everybody in the area; the Golden Triangle, and Houston area. Today the times have changed, HJ is a really good football team, and I would not be surprised if they follow suit, just as WOS, and win by at least 14 points.

La Marque has had a cupcake season. If they were really that good, they wouldn't have allowed the numbers on defense that they did. West Orange has put up huge numbers on offense. If the LM defense is allowing points from schools that shouldn't be scoring them, they won't be able to stop West Orange. LM gave up more points, and didn't score as many as WO-S did against Hamshire. Didn't score as many against Scarborough and WO-S had their JV in the game the entire second half. I know LM probably didn't have their starters in, but I doubt the JV was on the field. I'm not saying this is going to be a blowout from the beginning, but I think WO-S has a two TD lead going into the half.

 

Other notable strength of schedule ratings:

HJ - 18.1

La Grange - 18.6

Tatum - 28.7

you can tell you are young...none of that means ANYTHING come friday. every team either play down or up to the other team. again, wos STRUGGLED with a third place team until the fourth qtr..if wos was that good, they should have blown them out before half time. see how DUMB that sounds?? i guess you are making the transition to the wos bandwagon since you already know HJ is done lol

I doubt very seriously that LM is able to get in the heads of WOS players! This isn't the first time, and wont be the last time! When a team cant compete on the field they look for other ways to get the advantage! fans too!  WOS players are well coached and well disciplined when it comes to this type of atmosphere!!!! I've seen the condition of that school mouse..been in there and walked the halls. Trust me, that's a place I would not want my kids going to school. There's a reason the town has dried up and the school almost shut down on several occasions.

I think WOS will win this game, but its going to be closer than most of you all think.   The La Marque team you see this week will be not be like the team they were all year.   They are going to try to get in to the WOS players head by any means possible.  It all comes down to how the WOS players handle it.   Things could get a little dirty at times.   If WOS doesn't let it get to them, they should be fine.   If they let the games shake them up, could be a possible upset.

now this is a post worth a flip from the wos side. i respect that prediction and i think it's gonna come down to the 4th qtr. it seems the wos fans are taking LM lightly. if wos football team doing the same, it will bite you...HARD. trust and believe the coogs are being reminded everyday from former players and coaches about wos and how this game is huge. besides possibly facing LG, this is the biggest game of the playoffs thus far. LM football team and fans do not take ANYONE lightly. i hope wos heads are on a swivel
