Surely not the turnout that Spurger wanted for their own tournament. These boys are still a great team, they had two extremely close losses with two great teams (Brookeland by 2 & Warren by 4). Outside shooting wasn't their and free throws could have changed either of these games. All respect for Paul Sims, great player, coach, team leader. The Warrior team showed lots of heart and in the end pulled out w/ the win. Great job! I think that 4 of the teams @ this tournament playing @ their best are a pretty good match up w/ one another. Spurger now 14-5, 2-0 district. They will be going to Brookeland Monday, 12-31 @ 12 & then Friday, 1-4 to Hardin. The next few games will be real competitive for them. Hope they can keep their heads up and play ball like I know they can. Logansport, wow, what would this teams classification be considered in Texas? Tyler Copeland, great job, & the oilers are looking better. Caleb Jackson, great job, also. Bland seems to be not ready to come back yet. Either he's still hurt or he's scarred of re-injury. Hope the best for him, but didn't seem to be himself in the tournament. #5 was the only starter I seen missing this tournament.

Some shined, some had their off game, wasn't near the best game I've witnessed this season. But the Spurger squad did walk away w/ the win. Spurger has Tyler Copeland & the Oilers coming to them Friday, 12-21. Congrats Evadale JV

If it wasn't for a district win, I would consider this game WASTED GAS Good job BS. Poor, poor HI

I think all that really matters is that Spurger and Warren survived & walked away w/the win 8)

They played them on Spurger's Homecoming night & then Spurger had to appear @ their place. Yes, it wasn't a challenge at all for Spurger, but as someone pointed out previously ever needs to play.Now, moving on w/reality

I disagree w/ steelerczy, I was also @ these games and pushing Warren's player in the back in mid-air is just not right. And to the Spurger game. I have it on tape and reviewed it today after reading the previous post. D-ville's # 13 put a shoulder in Spurger's #1 back and then what looks to be a trip, & then as #1 tried to get up #13 got up all in his face, w/ his chest out, and #1 returned w/ the same reaction. Ref's called double foul. D-ville's coach didn't even take him out. And by the way Spurger's did. The next foul by #13 within a minute of this incident. The Ref's looked to be warning them while lined up for Spurger's freethrows. And #13 kept laughing @ the refs. Then when #1 came back in the game in the 4th quarter, when their was about less than a minute left in the game. D-ville's #5 came about mid-court, dropped his shoulder, and plowed into #1 in the chest. SteelerCzy you may need to review this game, since you obviously turned your head a time or two. DP#1Fan, I totally agree with you. Bland seems to be a good kid, as well as a bball player. And Deweyville is for sure going to need him to be successful this season DHSpirate, I hope your right & he is able to come back healthy & 100%

That is so true. The first few games in the Deweyville Tournament wasn't their normal play. They like to have lost to Burkeville :-[, but they pulled it together for the last two and proved that they can play ball when they played Deweyville for the 2nd place spot. Spurger 73 Deweyville 52 8)

Santa will not be visiting you this year. You should be ashamed of yourself. You should stop pointing out Copeland. He is a great bball player and seems to be a good kid. It's not his fault he was left @ West Hardin all alone. A great team and great coach left him. This will not be a good year at all for West Hardin or Copeland. Lots of teams in this area would be very glad to have him on their team. I am from a town in the same district as West Hardin. And even though our team should not have anything to worry about w/a win over W.Hardin this year. I still feel for Tyler. Hope Tyler can keep his head up and keep playing bball like everyone knows he can.

Without Bland and Sims, who knows what kind of game this will be. These two guys are very impressive basketball players. I hope the best for both. My prediction is undecided @ this time :-\
