1.
Uandme, you seem level headed. DV was the one who said Ozen was caught up in the moment, or spirits run high (or something to that effect) yet he is one of the first on here to condemn these girls and they assaulted no one. I will leave it at that. I got my message across....to some anyway.
I said NOTHING OF THE SORT...Please refrain from putting words in my mouth, for the sake of YOUR argument...stand on your own, and OWN your comments...I do...And I NEVER said ANYTHING about Ozen being caught up in any moment...I said IF they were taunting, THEY WERE WRONG TOO...Get it together, or leave it alone, sir.
 2.
no, you also implied that Nederland fans were either ignorant or just plain stupid for wondering why they weren't favorites.
Did I say it? or did you make the assumption as to what I was thinking? There is a BIG difference there...
 3.
Dickie wanna make a lil wager with me again? You have my word that this time i won't be "shady" or try and get technical with you this time.
No. shady is as shady does.
Dickie, you're acting like Ozen is a much better team than Nederland.  I've seen nothing in the past 3 years to back that up.  Is Ozen capable of beating Nederland?  Obviously.  But are they so much better than Nederland?  Obviously not.  If they were, they wouldn't have finished behind them in district.  I personally have no problem with Ozen being the favorite in this game based on recent play and their last result against Nederland, but i do have a problem with you acting like nederland fans are being ridiculous for questioning it.
Never said they were a better team..I am saying that Nederland, although, well coached, and being co-champions of the district, I don't think they have enough in the tank to beat a more talented, hot Ozen team right now..just like I did 2 weeks ago.. ::)...Its kinda like making Indiana a favorite over Murray State, who is at the top of their conference and having a pretty good season...They are not the Indiana of years past, but at the end of the day, they are Indiana, and they are STILL....Murray State.

Give it a rest! You abviously think pretty highly of yourself. It's also not a good thing to sit in judgement. What I can tell you and anyone else that is reading this thread, is this. I have witnessed the traveling Ozen circus. The "bow tie wearing" water boys, the actions of the assistant coach, the head coach coaching from the stands while the freshmen and jv are playing and so on.... The taunting during the games by the water boys that sit in the stands right behind the players bench amking fun of the opposing team's players. All the while, the head coach just looks back at them with amusement. So you want to talk about KARMA..... I said earlier in the season that I was proud of the fact we (20 4-A) had the number 1 team in state. I would have been proud for them to win the whole thing. My girls have played select with some of the girls from Ozen. I agree that the signs were not a good idea. I'm sure the BH coach will address it. I didnt see any sign of poor sportsmanship we BH beat us in the first round. Good LUCK BH!
Its obvious you're a kid in the Lumberton school system so I will excuse your lack of understanding...However, in your opening sentence you say that I must think pretty highly of myself, which had NOTHING to do with anything, then you say I am being "judgemental"....BUT you agree that the signs were not a good idea in the end of your rant... ??? ???...Note to LISD: get a hold of your students, and get them off of those computers and TEACH them...PLEASE.. ::)...Go back to class son, and out of that computer lab!! ;)
No Dick. Not a student here. If you read my post , I stated that my girls(daughters) have played with girls from Ozen. And yes, If I used the name of a well known college basketball analyst, one might get the impression that I thought highly of myself or expected people to respect my baskeball opinions. I do get it. I simply gave you examples of what I have witnessed this season.
OK...You're good, then!  8)

]
Saw the BH girls holding the dry erase boards saying "bye bye Ozen"....CLASSLESS....I hope they go to Austin and get BLASTED, so I can watch those same girls cry afterwards! THATS HORRIBLE! >:( >:(...I am SHOCKED that no one else has said anything about this classless act on here.....AWFUL SPORTSMANSHIP...I really hope that get blown out Thursday...
Wow.....you got to be kidding....pleeeeeeeeeeeease....Maybe what you saw was a response to all the garbage from the day before....from players and parents... Guess you missed all that.  :o
So the trend of thought in BH is this: If the other team does it to you, its OK to be classless and do it right back to them...Not that you did your talking on the floor, already by winning the game, which is how good teams and programs are supposed to respond...thats not enough...Is that right? Great role models in Barbers Hill... ::)

Are you seriously trying to say that if some kid that is 5'10 and in 7th grade and has been playing basketball since he was 5 he doesn't know which school he's going to? That ridiculous man. And last time i checked the little dribblers basketball program in hj wasn't reserved just for hj kids. Now if i am wrong correct me on it. So technically they don't know which school they will be going to.
In HOUSTON? No they don't! Thats what I am trying to tell you all on here...Could ANYONE that saw Nic Wise play with the Houston Hoops AAU program as a 5th grader (as I did) predict he would play at KINGWOOD?
Several HUNDRED?...Thats a fallacy about Houston....although it very well MAY be several hundred kids, there are also MORE than a 100 schools to choose from as well, so for each program, that number gets smaller and smaller....Its not what some of you think it is in Houston.
Bingo! We have a winner! Exactly what BD3 said a few months ago. Not sure where he has gone lately, but he brought this up about another coach. Don't remember who it was, but basically saying that by exposing kids to AAU ball, one recruits others to that program, whether intentionally are not.
EVERY coach can coach AAU...Its used to be against the rules, but that has changed...Its not illegal..I don't like it either, but, thats just the way it is...Its not recruiting, however.
I agree that it's not a traditional way of recruiting, but do you not see how it could be a dress rehearsal for other kids to see? It may not be directly recruiting, but it is a non-traditional form of recruiting, no? When one sees Duke (not comparing anyone  ::) ) on TV, do you think a HS kid might be more influenced to pick that school over another (NC State) who is not on TV as much?
Yes I can agree with that...But, do you realize how many kids are LOST by attending the "suburban" schools? I think it balances out, really...But to say that Coach Wise is recruiting is just wrong...He has made his program attractive by winning, and thats ok...and legal..kinda like being involved in little dribblers...right? ;)
By winning and getting city-wide (heck National) attention, the Yates program indirectly recruits kids to attend their school, just like my example regarding Duke and NC State. Can a Little Dribbler's program indirectly recruit a kid to attend a different school, yes but on a much smaller scale. Little Dribbler's is not getting National coverage anywhere, right? That's what Wise is doing as well. By coaching an AAU team (I know the rules, not his own players), others can see what he's doing and say, "I want to play for Yates". He IS doing that, and it's an indirect method of recruiting, IMO.
EVEN if it IS "indirect", its not ILLEGAL...Little Dribblers is RAISING KIDS TO EAT, SLEEP, AND BREATHE your program from the time they are small kids...I would call that a huge advantage for any program. Those kids know your entire coaching staff from the time they are 5, 6, 7 years old....Most others in Houston and Beaumont particularly do not get to know their coach until they reach 9th grade...in MOST cases....Its an advantage.
Around 5,000 per game if they can get in the venue...Of course in Houston, the fan base is cyclical...They will follow the best team year in and year out, but Yates has a pretty good following anyway...It used to be Willowridge like that in their day, but it has clearly shifted.
Why has Willowridge been unable to maintain their dominance like Yates has?
Because of TWO reasons...Ronnie Courtney (now the head coach at FB Bush) took the Texas Southern job, and they built Marshall, which greatly pulled from Willowridge's feeder pattern initially...They used to be the LARGEST school in Ft. Bend, attendance wise, now they are the smallest...Side Note: Ronnie Courtney won ANOTHER state title at FB Bush in 2010....ANOTHER coincidence, huh? 8)

Talking about how BH was next? Maybe but obviously not very smart. Or is it classless to walk off the court before the winning team is announced after the game? I think that's more classless myself but would have never mentioned it before you 2 idiots spoke up. Teenagers don't always make good decisions but you can't always control what they do. Don't get on here bashing the BH girls when you don't know them and you obviously don't pay attention to what your own girls are doing. It amazes me that people will turn their heads to what their own kids are doing but bash someone else for doing something similar. I don't like any of the trash talking myself but if your gonna talk it you better expect a little in return!
Thanks RIP...I knew all about this (HEARD the comments myself from the Ozen players the night before) and also that they walked off the floor during the trophy presentation, and at least two unnamed players would not shake hands, and a coach told our players in during handshake "ya'll aint gonna win nothin at state", and the completey inappropriate, moronic behavior of the assistant coach during games going all the way back to FALL LEAGUE... BUT...I chose to take high road and just give congratulations ... Thanks to DICK, now I feel the need to set the record fully straight and its no wonder that that our girls showed their emotions after the taunting from the night before...
I can see the NUTS do not fall far from the trees in Barbers Hill.... ::) ::) I was NOT in attendance, so as far as what Ozen girls did, I don't know...If they DID taunt them, it was just as wrong...I SAW the BH girls holding up the signs...If it is not addressed, then shame on your community...If it is, kudos to you...Good luck in Austin. And remember, Karma is real..what goes around....will eventually come right back around...remember that...life lesson.

 24. Thats just the truth of the matter...Kids need to be taught to do the right thing at all times...THIS was CLEARLY wrong, and is a true TEACHING moment...No excuses.
I gotcha Nash......that bet is fine with me...I was pre occupied with all of the ridiculous statements made my the Nederland contingent, thinking for some reason they should be the "favorite" in their game against Ozen.... ::)....and had the AUDACITY to be mad about it! Ridiculous... 8)
Dicky- just for the sake of confirmation:  Our new bet (which replaces the original one) will consist of me taking Nederland plus 5 points and me giving you 5-1 odds by betting $100 against $20.  Is that the way you understand it? ( you know I will pay promptly if I lose)
I understand...I have no clue why you are so confident that Nederland will take this one, but...OK... ::) ::) 8)

oh my word.....you nederland and ozen fans are ridiculous.....  Who cares whose favored....  just go out and win the game. truth be told i have ties to nederland and i would like to see them win this game, but right now Ozen is playing better ball and have beat better opponents in the playoffs so yes Ozen should be favored.....get over it. learn to cut your emotional ties from 'your' team and then you ll see the truth
No sir! You hardly ever find any Ozen fan on this forum talking noise, heck there are hardly any Ozen fans on this site. Not sure who Dickie V is a fan of since he criticizes all teams although at times it's quite obvious who he is not a fan of and that's his right. I have ties to Ozen (and honestly didn't feel that we'd be in the 3rd round but here we are DARN IT) but I like being the underdog just like we were in football. As soon as something is said in non-support of certain teams on this site all heck breaks loose.  Good luck to each and every school still representing this area!
I am not a "fan" of ANY team, but I have a tie to Ozen as well...As a matter of fact I am the guy in the tan suit on that giant 2001 state championship photo in the foyer at the Ozen gym.. ;)....I just tell it like it is, but a lot of the guys on here don't really want me to do that....I don't dislike any team on here at all, really, I just call it as I see it!  8)
