IF Nederland wins its next game, I want you to instruct Coach English to voice the following disclaimer if anyone from the media interviews him: " We have no cause to celebrate because we really haven't accomplished anything by being atop the district for two consecutive years and winning two or three playoff games. After all, we don't "belong" in this position and it was only fortuitous circumstances that allowed us to get here"
No...But they won't anyway, so it matters not... 8)

I have yet to see any post from a Ned fan suggesting they are "world beaters". They are quite proud of their team and it's accomplishments but I think they are smart enough to know there are better teams out there that have accomplished more. I think they have a full understanding but you seem to be bent on proving they don't. My point is, what other teams have accomplished is totally irrelevant to what Nederland has accomplished.
THANK YOU! +1 maybe he will listen to someone he knows and respects.
I respect everyone... ::)..

Other teams have gone two playoff rounds...no celebration from them... ::)...I understand what you are saying, but the Ned fans are relentless! 8)
Did we have a parade that I missed? I don't recall any celebrations taking place, just a town enjoying success. U find it ironic that NOBODY has come to your defense on here regarding Ur opinion, yet people from Silsbee, HJ, HF, OF, Vidor, and PA are calling you out, but all u do is back pedal and attorney to belittle again and again and again. Be a man and admit you were wrong!
Wrong about what? Has the boys state tournament been played early this year? ::) ::) Did I miss it?

Perhaps the Central fans are not on here celebrating making the quarterfinals and being CO-champs of the district....They KNOW that its really not that big of a deal...perhaps... ::) -
Well they ARE taking FOUR teams these days.... ::) ::) ;D

Not comparison to Yates, because there is none, really...You are correct, AAW...Just trying to get the Nederland faithful to see what a championship caliber team truly looks like...I don't know if they really understand that while what they have done is admirable, they have not even scratched the surface yet...So if someone says, "I think Nederland will get beat", it shouldn't be so offensive to them...Its just what it is.
The weakest district in the state should have no teams still playing. To repel the egg from one's face, it's good to start drawing lines. Since we are still playing, we have played no one....typical crawfishing. Side note: the real DV, not the imposter, commentated for the #2 Syracuse vs. unranked UConn game last night which Syracuse barely won. The real DV said Syracuse finds ways to win because the real DV knows basketball and how games go.
Who have you played? DAYTON? MAGNOLIA? Congrats you beat two doormats in basketball! FOUR TEAMS make the playoffs!! Could you switch places with 21-4A's top seed and win both? NO...resounding NO! BTW..UCONN won a national title LAST SEASON...While they are struggling, the cupboard is not bare in Storrs... ::) ::)....You cannot compare DAYTON (who has never won anything) or Magnolia (who?) to the defending NCAA champs...Are you kidding me?..novice basketball fans amuse me... ::)
Actually, a magnet school is supposed to play under the classification of the largest school in the city......dude.
Not true...If they have 4A numbers and are a magnet school, they play 4A NOT 5A....dude ::)....Once again...that makes no sense.

The fact that the 3 teams in 20-4A remain does not indicate "dominance" of any sort..The team with the toughest bracket is Central...Nederland and Ozen have beaten their first two opponents, but taking 4 playoff teams, sometimes you will run into a team or two that you are just better than, even if you aren't that good...it happens..FOURTH PLACE TEAMS make the playoffs...Now lets break this down..."Top" 20-4A seed struggles with the 4th place team (Dayton) in 19-4A...Then they beat a 3rd place Magnolia team...kudos to them...the other Co-champ, Central, beat CE King and Brenham...Not bad..They have some talent, and I am not really surprised by them beating them..not much...Ozen beat North Forest, then Humble...Not real shocking either, because quite frankly they were all pretty much evenly matched...Ozen, in my estimation, is the hottest team of the three...they advance, way to go...The BEST team in the region (Yates) has the TOUGHEST route BY FAR, yet they are STILL blowing them out...I DOUBT, that Nederland would have come within 20 of Wheatley or Manvel.....20...Thats who Yates got in the first two rounds...and beat them by 38 and 39, respectively...Now my point is, the BRACKET has plenty to do with why 3 teams from 20-4A remain...PLENTY.

Whoa so many WRONG statements! Where do I begin? :o
Well, it is pretty easy for those who have problems figuring it out. Why don't 5A/6A schools play 1A schools? Even some 5A schools complain about huge enrollment schools having an advantage. Yates keeps their enrollment figures down to play 4A just like some schools I know, but let's talk about how great and smart they are. Probably fudge grades too.
Yeah, just like they fudge grades for Nederland football, right? Why would you make that assumption? Makes no sense...
If Wise is that special as a coach, why isnt he in a D-1 program somewhere?
Nash....really? Some coaches are content coaching in high school programs...He is a good coach, though, no question about that, but why he has never tried taking the jump?....I don't know.
I recall in the 2006-2007 season Yates were disqualified for playing an ineligible player after they beat Houston jones so them cheating don't surprise me at all I know they recruit but like I say I think other than bouttee(although he's retired) wise is arguably the second best coach out there I think he's won 4 state championships in 7 yrs that's pretty good(2 with king wood and 2 with Yates) I respect them but wise recruits just face it
This post BY FAR has the MOST WRONG STATEMENTS...Greg Wise came to Yates in 2007-08...they had to forfeit a game against Houston WORTHING THE PRIOR YEAR for playing a transfer from Worthing that was ineligible under Coach Fred Smith, who was subsequently fired from Yates after that season for that. Boutte never had to recruit, nor is he retired...PAISD Executive Athletic Director..Wise has NEVER coached at Kingwood, his SON (Nic Wise) PLAYED there when they won state in 2006. Wise guided Ft. Bend Hightower to consecutive state tournaments in 2002 and 2003, where they were beaten both years, but he won back to back titles at Yates in 2009 and 2010...And knowing him, Wise does not recruit either...Whoever is supplying your info....tell them to go kill himself... 8)
So they have chosen a way to not call it a magnet school but still alow transfers
Yates IS a magnet school...They have a magnet school of communications over there...EVERY school regardless of status allows transfers..They just have to follow UIL guidelines when it comes to competing in varsity sports. If they LIVE in the zone, they must wait 15 days before becoming eligible to play varsity. If they do NOT live in the zone, they must wait one calandar year before becoming eligible.

So, if you are in Houston, you can choose any school you wish to choose beginning in the 9th grade. IF this is not the case in most other areas, would you consider that to be sort of an unfair advantage for the kids in Houston?
I may be naive, but isn't this the rule in Beaumont? Can an 8th grade student pick between Central, Ozen, and West Brook.
This is correct. HOWEVER where they go as a 9th grader, determines where their HOME school will be.
I don't have a dog in this hunt, but wasn't there a rule proposed that if you were a "magnet" school or allowed transfers, then you would have to play in the classification that you pulled from.... I thought I heard that last year or the year before that...does anyone know, it would seem fair...
Makes no difference which classification you transfer to or from, as long as it is not solely for athletic purposes.
From UIL: Multiple High School Districts with schools in more than one conference, one of which is a magnet school. A multiple high school district with schools in more than one conference, one of which is a magnet school, shall have the magnet school placed in the same conference as the high school in that school district with the largest enrollment. So tell me how Yates, and other "magnet" schools, somehow skirt this rule? Just curious.
I think you are mis-interpreting this one...It would be impossible to follow in a district as large as HISD that has many magnet school programs. The magnet high schools in Houston are: Lamar, Washington, Yates, Madison, Bellaire, Health Professions (no sports), Barbara Jordan (no sports), Law Enforcement (no sports), and Westside...all of which have special programs or advanced academic programs in which students can attend for those specific programs with no questions asked...However, they must STILL follow UIL guidelines for athletic competition...That does not change. If they attend one of the schools without sports programs, they can only compete at the school that they are ZONED to via their home address, which is verified before they can compete.

The "magnet" status does not affect who can go to Yates as incoming 9th graders...

Someone with knowledge of Yates program (maybe BD or DV) please explain how Yates is able to do what they do? Obviously great players, but in more detail, how is Yates able to dominate the way they do? Is there a rule in HISD that allows players freedom to choose their school? I have no idea, just honestly asking how is Yates so dominant?
I got this one DOVE...See in HISD kids are allowed to choose where they attend school as a 9th grader...There is no rule that states kids can't go to Yates! However, once you go to that school, THAT becomes your HOME SCHOOL...Coach Wise has built a great program over there, so naturally, if you are an aspiring basketball player, Yates would be an attractive option these days...As a parent, would you want your kid to play at Yates for a Coach like Greg Wise or at No Name High for an Offensive Coordinator chosen to coach basketball because its one mile closer to your house? That makes the choice easy...Build it and they will come...Yates does NOT recruit...Its that simple.
So, if you are in Houston, you can choose any school you wish to choose beginning in the 9th grade. IF this is not the case in most other areas, would you consider that to be sort of an unfair advantage for the kids in Houston?
No, because in smaller areas, teams are allowed to have mysterious transfers, with nothing said about it, PLUS, they can have Little Dribblers programs from elementary school, and they get to know their kids from the time they were small kids, and have their feeder schools run their system...WHO has the advantage, again?
Dickie V.. Here is why Nederland fans dont like you.. You have called our team out for not being that good and talking down on 20-4A.. You can speculate all you want, but as of right now, Nederland is still playing after two playoff wins and 3 teams for 20-4A are still in the play-offs.. Those are facts.. You dont like it, sorry for you feeling that way.. We are fully aware of the talent out there and that awaits in region 3.. Yates is one of the best teams in the state regardless of classification.. We are focused on taking it one game at a time, and so far Nederland, Central, and Ozen have done just that.. Go sip the hatorade somewhere else
Dogs 1218, here is why I dont care: The fact is Nederland is NOT that good..They have beaten two teams in Dayton and Magnolia that are worse than they are..FOUR TEAMS make the playoffs these days, so yeah they are bound to run into a team or two with less talent....Ozen and Central are more talented teams, and have beaten better teams than that thus far in the playoffs..Props to them and Nederland...I am not hating, I am just stating what should be the obvious...Good Luck against Ozen Tuesday...I pick Ozen...for obvious reasons...hate it or love it...I don't care.
