you will have to win an appeal with the UIL to play a 5th year and those rarely go through unless there are extenuating circumstances WOS Grad you can post all the rules you want....you get four years....once you enter high school all you get is four years
That is the key. Chris has only been at the high school 3 years. ;)
If THAT is the case, then he could be granted a 5th year....UNLESS he was forced to play with the 9th graders as an 8th grader due to age...THAT makes a difference, which means his clock started as an 8th grader...Not that would not grant it, if there were some special circumstances, but it would not be automatic. -
Not any more. Starting a couple of years ago, UIL is choosing 3 man crews from chapters. Now, crews work the tourney, not individuals. In regards to the question, I know that Kelly, Mike and Booker were to be calling games at the state tourney but I thought it was for the boys, not girls.
Thats news to me...wow! :o
How could that be? ANY high school kid gets 8 semesters to play...WE were hit by that rule when one of my teammates that was actually SKIPPED up a grade from 7th to 9th, wanted that year back, but was told he could only be eligible for 8 semesters.
All I know is that the Fitzhenry kid appealed to the UIL and played 5 years. Not sure if it's a varsity rule or not.
May have gotten an exception based on an UIL rule kids use as seniors with academic problems ;)
Now you can get a 5th year granted if you were HELD out a year due to extenuating circumstances, but NO KID can actually PLAY for 5 seasons... -
I usually side against the officials, but from this story there is not enough information to know what happened. You cant watch a 30 second clip and understand the atmosphere for the 2 hour period. It reminds me of the Republican candidate race and some of them showing a TV ad making the other candidate appear in a negative way when it is only a half-truth. So I dont know if it was a good call or not, not enough info, but that is what yahoo and the media like to do, is get people "stirred" up.
If you can't see that the kid did NOTHING wrong, you just cannot see! He dunked, looked in HIS DIRECTION and was heading up the floor....What the kid can't LOOK at his DIRECTION now? TERRIBLE CALL ON THAT KID.
DV please remember Silsbee has always been very strong basketball school even in 4A. Classification doesn't matter! Yates will be the clear favorite next year and nothing less than a state title will be accepted. You never know what Silsbee has up their sleeves either!
I believe thats exactly what I said... ::) 8) -
You know is was worried about Yates too,but I feel the tigers will be mad and hungry about not getting to Austin, and losing the way they did, with the same group coming back they know what it takes to win and plus no one is talking about how kingwood park basically had Yates beat and let them off the hook. I think Yates is a great program but still very beatable what ever defense kingwood park used may be a blueprint on how to slow Yates down and maybe beat them, I believe Silsbee will welcome that challenge with no problem, if they get there and get that chance they can beat Yates.
Kingwood Park NEVER LED AT ANY POINT OF THAT GAME...They did not "let Yates off of the hook"... ::) -
I didnt look at the video so not sure if there is anything of substance to it or not. I am wondering, though, if the young man's behavior in the rest of the game, might have impacted the decision to eject him? I still believe that the taunting is ultimately counter productive.
I don't care if he talked about that refs mother! What he did was in NO WAY deserving of a technical foul...That is just ridiculous, and if they allow this ref to do it, shame on them too! Pitiful... >:(

That is ridiculous. >:(

La Vega's chances at state title

It works well if executed properly, but I really hate gimmick defenses like that...Waco LaVega is my pick to win 3A. -

Don't know about that...Yates' JV could've won 20-4A this year.. ::) ::)....They have two super sophs starting for them this year..They will be good again next season.. Silsbee has a lot of solid returners so they will be able to challenge anyone in 3A as well...It will be very interesting to say the least. -
HISD has the most schools in the country that are academically challenged? True statement! Look it up DV!
Wrong again...That distinction goes to Louisiana in the New Orleans Parish...In Texas, Dallas ISD has that distinction...We are NOT supposed to discuss anything on this thread but Yates going back to Austin...Lets comply, folks..

Will HJ be considered a young team or veteran team?
HJ lost 7 Seniors, two starters and then 5 reserves who played limited minutes. HJ will have SEVERAL, I repeat SEVERAL Sophomores on the Varsity team next year!!! A few who may start. Only two BIG minute players will come from Seniors next year.
OHHH MAN! This could put a major dent in the HJ program next year, though I still expect them to make playoffs
Impossible. Likely to go 17-17. Doesnt matter what LaVega returns because Yates will own the region.
True...BUT stevenash we are supposed to be discussing the Waco LaVega/HJ contest from last Friday night...nothing more...nothing less...
2 out of the 3 meeting, 'someone' brought their thinking cap and actually outdid the other guy on the other baseline. If the 2 only times he decided to coach gets you 2 wins and a co-district championship and a win against the obvious choice, then in a sense him getting this recognition is warrented.
We will discuss that one on the 20-4A thread...

Lots of people here have experienced those things. After Tiger Woods won his first US Amateur, I don't think anyone was suggesting to him that he did not have the capability of joining subsequently more "exclusive" clubs.
