1.
Congrats to all the kids who were recognized. COTY, seriously??
Yeah that was pretty bad, NB-Dawg...I was kinda shocked at that one too...
 2. No, they can't vote for themselves, perhaps Lee voted for Savaet, and English voted for Lee. Maybe...
 3.
Well, I dont think you were ever worried about them being atop the district for consecutive years either.
Yeah, but winning the region and going to state is a whole other ball of wax!  ;)...Its an Exclusive Club.... ;D ;D ;D
 4.
No offense but SxSW is ALOT bigger than state economically speaking.
Why wouldn't they consider changing the dates of it?...The State tournament is a Texas tradition...I am sure it would be beneficial for all parties involved.
 5. Don't know if I agree with that either, but the coaches vote on that, and perhaps English voted for Lee and Lee didn't vote for English, which could have tipped the scale...I think that Coach English did deserve the honor as well.
 6. Its ok...I am not worried about that happening....ever. ::) ::) 8)
 7.
ahhh, yes - "only I know the truth and the rest of you poor common folk are ill informed"
That is pretty much the situation here.... ::) ::)...Could someone just say ANYTHING about HJISD, that you KNOW is wrong, and you just sit by a watch it happen? Neither would I...

Regionals and State trips are the goals *unlike a certain 4-A school in Mid-County where winning district is their ultimate goal ::) ;D I guarantee there are many other schools wishing they could have had the run HJ had this year. Turn your pain into the momentum for next season's championship run. NOW! Just think what could have been if yall played a harder schedule? ** Now you know I could not leave "well enough alone."  :D ;D
BD3-The season is less than a week over and U start with that WEAK comment (started by an insinuation by DV  ::) ) to drag me into discussing 'Ultimate Goals'! Lord it's gonna be a long Spring/Summer.  ;D 8) TBH, I have no clue what Ned's Ultimate Goal may be. I would have to presume that Winning District is ONE of their team goals (as most teams probably have), but the Ultimate Goal would be the same as MOST teams (I would hope  ??? )? I'm sure every season provides different goals depending on the previous years success and returning players. I would guess that Ned's goals will be much higher next year than they were this year after losing so much. The same goes for Silsbee, HJ, Ozen, and Central. I would guess that Silsbee will probably have higher expectations than anyone considering all they are returning next year.
Sorry dawg, I assumed winning district was the ultimate goal for the mid-county fan base. Sorry!  ;D
Bluedove, you didn't actually think that they thought they could make a trip to state, did you? :o ;D ;D

 10.
So DV if Yates doesn't recruit tell me how does a school who has been academically unacceptable for sometime now and close to closing it's doors go to the state and bring up basketball as reason to keep the doors open? The school came within days of being shut down
Because the communities would not allow it...It was not within DAYS of closing down either... ::) ::)..They were discussing it, if certain things did not take place within the next year...Kashmere was in that same situation and made it through as well....Basketball had NOTHING to do with why they survived...Your information source is not a good one...or you are yet again, taking a guess.... ::) ::) 8)

 12. Such cavemen.... ::).."uga, uga, football king around here! uga!"...Look, I am fully aware that BECAUSE of all of the extras pertaining to football (band, cheerleaders, drill team , etc.) the gate at games makes a considerable amount of profit, FOR THAT REASON ONLY...Take all of that away from HS football games, as it is in basketball, and you will see a CONSIDERABLE drop in revenue. I would like to add that at OZEN HS in 2000-2003, I would be willing bet that the basketball program made more money for the school and the district than the football program did, due to the simple fact that we played more HOME games, while having one of the largest followings in SE Texas, while the football team played at Lamar University's stadium, so it IS possible... UOS works for football, because football DOES NOT REQUIRE MUCH SKILL, with the exception of a few "skill" positions...Maybe you should re-think your "king" football theory, because, it is not what it used to be..Particularly HERE in SE Texas...When was the last time a SE Texas team won state again? 1987 West Orange Stark, maybe? Its been a long time since football was "king" around these parts... ;)
 13. Its HJ/Silsbee, man..thats what they do! ;)...anyway, back on THIS topic, I think they should leave the boys state tourney right where it is...Tradition is what makes it great...They should do something about that darn music festival though! >:( 8)
 14. A little friendly rivalry is good for the board, WOSgrad! 8)....Its entertaining, at least! :D
 15.

Typical "football" response.
This is after all, the football forum
And this is what we are discussing...the selfish, self centered nature of football fans and coaches in particular...BFS (Bigger, Faster, Stronger) is a very good system for athletics...but football coaches fail to realize that other sports do not always require brute strength to be good...Give me SKILL and Strength over the STRONGEST, BIGGEST, kid anyday.  I agree with much of what you guys are saying about getting stronger, but I think skill development is just as important.
 16. Let us know! We want to have a SETXsports outing in Austin!  8)
 17.
In regards to the coach from LaVega doing the "stanky-leg dance", I wasn't there so I didn't see it.  What was it compared to Coach Travis Williams doing his dance after a couple of HJ-Silsbee games?
I forgot about that....good point....response? 8)
 18.
HJ has nothing to be ashamed of but I do understand how high the bar is set in their program. 19. Typical "football" response.... ::)...I will tell guys like Kevin Durant, that maybe he should just give it up...Not strong enough... ::)..."Pecan" heads amaze me sometimes.... ::)
 20. I say again....KILL THIS THREAD.
 21. This thread needs to go...really.  ::)
 22. I just read the other thread that got locked....SMH....REALLY, BADSANTA? Being able to " fill up" a football stadium is no major accomplishment...Most that attend football games are not football fans anyway. You have band parents, cheerleader parents, drill team parents, etc...Football is big in Texas, however its popularity depends on where you are...in 21-3A the HJ/Silsbee basketball rivalry is second to none.  To say that the only sport that "matters" is football, is not accurate...
 23. Well if you know for a FACT...Turn them in... ::).
 24. Let's just not....it opens both of these guys up for too much speculation, and false rumors. Just let it go.
 25. Ok, I will ask this again....HOW MANY STATE CHAMPIONS DID UOS PRODUCE AT HF? State finalists? State semi finalist? Regional finalists? Then its really NOT working...teams can make the playoffs these days, particularly in football with sub .500 records, so though its a nice feat, its really not earth shattering...I hope they find an AD that truly understands what ATHLETIC PROGRAM means....for the sake of ALL of the kids involved.
