So the coach you had takes y'all further then any other coach in Woodville history going all the way to Jerry World. But it’s his fault y'all didn't win because he didn't open up the offense and use different weapons? Yall need someone you can utilize what y'all have? Wow no wonder he left even with the talent coming up. If the fans and community does not back the coaching staff in every way then why would he stay after taking y'all (a team that had only been 2 rounds) to the promise land. To many bleacher coaches that know better then the man and staff who got y'all there. Better hope y'all find a top coach and will put up with the experts in the bleachers or back to the bottom y'all will go.
I wonder how Franklin Fan would react if their coach only used the forward pass while ignoring their running game. Everyone knows the running game is your bread and butter play. I don’t think he would be praised for his play calling. If you pay a OC to call plays. Let him do his job.

My info has nothing to do with East Chambers
With that said the only other 3a coach that Woodville would entertain would be Neece. I believe they will try to find someone to help develop our QB and receivers.

Able to add any detail to this statement?
I was told a couple weeks back that there may be some openings in EC for football coaches. I have no idea if this is connected to Woodville. With AAW making the statement he has it looks legitimate.
-
Looks like East Chambers is making some moves.

There's probably many different variables but the main reason I've heard is family and location. Or maybe Rob agrees with LionPride who thinks it's a step up. Who knows
If you remember there was an altercation with the OC during the state championship some say it was because the OC wanted to open the play book up down field and he shut it down. Who knows. But I do know he doesn’t like the forward pass and to move up in competition would require at minimum a balanced offense.

Crawford better get ready for the Double Wing. They will not throw the ball down field.

Friday at 4:00 in Chester is the showdown between the two top 10 ranked district rivals. Last night Brookeland defeated West Sabine 10-4 in their first game of the season so it should be a good one but I think the Yellowjackets still take this one. As I said before I believe Chester is destined for their first state championship this year.
I don’t know. I would say Brookleland is the favorite. They are the only one with a kid committed to play at the next level. That is a difference maker in small schools. Who worked hardest in the offseason. Who handles pressure best will come out on top.
-
Any scores from 21-3A?
-
Chester should definitely make a run at the championship but, it all depends on how much work was put into the offseason. With these small schools the kids think they have to be involved with everything under the sun, which takes away from off season work. Which is where championships are won, add injuries that happen while participating in other sports this will end any dream of a championship. There are 3 schools that can make a run. Chester, Brookland and Groveton Centerville. Who has put in the work during offseason.

We will play anybody that is willing to play. We likely will be in the state championship in basketball also and we have two players that don't play basketball. This means we likely don't have a baseball team until March. We will have a few day practice before we play our first district game.
Our schedule has nothing to do with a lack of desire for hirer competition I can promise you that. Everybody is in district by the time we get started therefore nobody wants to play extra games during their district schedule with pitch counts being a factor. Nobody wants to play on Saturdays either. We played Garrison at 4:30 and Chester at 7:00 on the same night last year just to get some decent games in. We will play anybody that wants to come to our place on the night we have a district game and we will make it a double header. We will play anybody on a Saturday.
People see us play and they have no clue the things we have overcome to get there. We miss more than half our season and have absolutely no pre-season year in and year out.
Hopefully someone will step up and give you the games you need. It is not just for being prepared for your pressure situations but preparing the kids for the next level. They will play against very few kids from the 1a level ,most will be from the Juco level to transfer portal . Yes you are correct about being behind the 8 ball waiting on other sports. I have seen coaches and parents shuffling kids from games to practice and back. Add track to the equation with regional meets involved and you have a mess. A Jack of all trades is a master of none. Per a local D1 coach.

Think about this school vouchers that will be approved in the future will do away with transfer students. With the voucher program kids will be able to go to school where they want and their tax dollars follow. Carthage would have competition Jasper for instance could compete. They would be able to pull all the best football players from Newton Woodville Burkeville even Silsbee to play for them . Schools would specialize by sport. Silsbee would be the basketball hub recruiting Jasper Kountze and Beaumont area kids. Bridge city would do the same in Baseball. I think transfers will become a thing of the past.

I’m not from Woodville and I’m extremely happy for that team and community on making it to the state championship game! Just expressing my opinion on observations. Woodville was 20+ points better than Tidehaven and they nearly lost due to not playing your key players when and where you should. Think about this, during the 3 series that Hunter played RB, the Eagles scored 21 points (3 for 3 TD drives). The SEVEN offensive series’ he didn’t play RB, they scored ZERO points and only managed a handful of first downs. His defensive score was ultimately the difference maker winning by a single touchdown. Doesn’t take Nick Sabin to realize that a kid that rushes for 5 first half TDs against a talented Dangerfield team coming off a blow out win over Newton should probably get at least ONE carry in the first half the following week. He wasn’t gassed, he was standing by the coaches ready to go in the whole time. If they win it all, it’s water under the bridge but my opinion is that if they try to be that conservative with Hunter next week, they’ll lose handily.
Well said. This comes from someone who a higher than normal Football IQ.

This game will come down to coaching.

Congrats to Woodville!! I was watching the game and my blood pressure was high not seeing Hunter in the backfield!! Don’t get me wrong, WV has a great team…. But anyone who saw them play in the regular season knows they are a different animal with Hunter at RB. I understand Williams and Barlow got you to the door of the big dance… but T Hunter took Woodville from a Round 2, maybe Round 3 team, to a state championship caliber team. I mean the dude had 5 rushing touchdowns in the first half against DField last week and against Tidehaven he had ZERO carries in the first half?? Come on man! He kept them in the game in the first half with a 68 yard scoop and score defensive TD and scored on his second carry of the game in the 3rd qtr…. Then doesn’t play offense for two series…. And then scores from 44 yards out as soon as he’s in back the game. I understand how important he is on defense, the fatigue and conditioning thing BUT if WV wants to have any chance of beating Gunter, that kid better play 75%+ of the offensive snaps. Anyone with a brain can tell they are a different offensive team when he’s on the sidelines. I cant be the only one who watched this game and was saying WTF is going on.
You are not alone in your thinking. I have seen this for years. Kids being played out of position coaches not knowing how good his kids are refusing to play them to optimize winning. Hunter is not the only kid not being utilized Rigsby is also being under played kid is a playmaker. Hard headedness and emotions have always gotten in the way.

Why is Hunter not running the ball more. smh?

well no clue who it was but it was a completely different coaching staff.
That coach was Davin Nelson. He was the DC at that time, He also wanted the head job at Woodville.

It is disappointing not to meet back up with Newton butttttt, this is a very intriguing game. Does anyone on this board remember who was the defensive coordinator in 2015. Why did he leave. Was the final score in the Newton game a message for Woodville??? This game will be interesting to say the least.
-
The only thing I disagree on is 1 game would be historic because Woodville has never made it past the second round no matter how much talent they have. Having said that I agree with everything you say, which is why the only outcome that is acceptable is a rematch with Newton in the playoffs and their defeat.
-
He has done well considering the lack of experience. His speed is now getting him noticed by the Big 10 and SEC. Even our friends in Newton are impressed with his progress. Everyone is expecting a rematch with Newton. Time will tell.
-
Grand Saline is not Newton. A loss will only extend historical outcomes.
