  1. From a BH perspective, my momma taught me to never speak in absolutes...It's baseball and that's why the games are played. The early tournaments and non-district games are tune up games for the stuff that really matters...such as winning district or securing a playoff spot....

  2. The caught stealing in the second was actually ruled an error according to the set of books I saw.  Catcher Campbell had him thrown out ( with the umpire signaling out ) as the ball was knocked out of the glove as tag was applied. That would have been the third out of the inning. I'm not sure how you rule that. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Also, the runner involved with the tag @ second reached 1st with a single with two outs,  after being ruled safe @ second, he scores when the next batter drives him in with a single. Is this an earned or unearned run ? Regardless, big for BH. PNG had a runner thrown out @ third that could've been very costly to them also. They way the Harrington kid was throwing, probably all remote issues anyway. We just couldn't touch him. Excellent pitching performance. Congrats !

  3. Barbers Hill 7-3-1

    Beat Bay City 1-0

    Beat B. Westbrook 5-3

    Lost Flower Mound 7-8

    Beat Houston Christian 10-0(10-1)?

    Beat H-Jefferson 7-6

    Beat Scarborough 19-2

    Beat St. Pius 10-1

    Beat Houston Milby 4-1

    Lost Ft. Bend Elkins 0-12

    Tied Northshore 7-7 ( BH wins tie-breaker)

    Lost PNG 1-2

Hey Big Tuna, according to my bracket ,Tarkington is not in BH tourney this weekend. Coldspring and La Marque are the two others to make up the 8 teams.

  4. One heck of a baseball game @ Barbers Hill. Unfortunately, Eagles fall to PNG 2-1. For any PNG fans out there, congratulations ! Your boy Harrington(?) can really throw it. Kid went the distance and showed no signs of letting up. Total domination. For BH, starter Kendall Thamm threw 1st 3 innings, with 3 K's and no walks. Gave up 2 hits with an error and one run. Finished with no decision after 1-1 tie after 3rd. Hunter Silva was on the hill for the next 3 innings. Do not have exact numbers but threw the ball great, mixing up a good fastball with a great change up. Unfortunately for Silva, gave up the only other run scored in the ball game..taking the loss. Jr. righthander Jonathan Kelley threw a scoreless 7th inning for BH. Kelley has shown great improvement in his last two appearances.  As far as hitting, can't tell you much except that there wasn't much.

  5. Thanks, oldman...I believe my response sounded harsher than it was intended. Actually, I mentioned several kids in that post...could be anyone of them :).

Regarding the discussions about Baytown Sterling from others, I think maybe the county line has something to do with who's talked about on this site. However, B. Sterling is indeed loaded....glad we do not play them. I'm rooting for them to go to state...in 5A of course. My vote...add both Baytown schools to the site.

    Take care.

  6. Thanks, baseballwayoflife...I only state facts/numbers...And mine seem to be a little more accurate than some I've seen on this site. The day my kid has an off night...you all will be the first to know. I think I do a great job of giving props to all the great athletes and teams in this region...and there are many, including BH's district opponents. Exciting, well-played baseball gonna be played by many in SETX. Put another way...31-1...if you were offended oldman, my apologies. But you can always grab a bat and dig in at the plate !

  7. I personally love teams that make alot of positive "baseball talk" from their dugout. Fire your teamates up, etc. The negative talk directed at your opponent is bush league. BH played FT.Elkins this past weekend. You will be hard pressed to find a group of kids that has less class than the Elkins "boys".

  8. Awesome...BH at the top..Minor correction Hales and Thamm lead a dominant pitching staff. Cameron, Townley, Ponder, Hulsey, and as of late Rocha lead a very powerful offense. In fact, entire BH lineup is contributing...be it with a hit, sac bunt, HR shot, etc. Entire lineup has made a contribution in one way or another. Taking nothing away from Huffman, New Caney, Crosby,or GP...this district will be exciting.. I'm a BH guy and we do like our chances...I guess that's why you have to play the games. Good luck to all. Next to granny's Apple pie, nothing better than well-played baseball.

  9. In the Elkins game, BH played worst game of the season defensively behind Jr. righthander Hunter Silva. Silva had to throw to many pitches. Elkins with a strong hitting squad. 3Rd/4th place against Northshore wasn't too much cleaner..errors from both teams. BH led 7-3 early only to lose lead @ 7-7 tie...and then won the tie breaker. BH hit much better than the 'Stangs to barely pull this one out. In my opinion, these early tourneys have some positives but quite a few negatives also. We have one more smaller tourney this weekend @ BH. I believe most of the BH players and fans are ready for district play to start.
