Gotta give OF some props. They played hard and hung with the Tigers. Ironic how OF got the fumble recovery with Silsbee knocking on the door and returned it for a td to start the game only to turn it over deep in Silsbee territory to basically end the game. OF was tackling well. Silsbee was overlooking OF and made way too many mistakes. You definitely can not go into another team's stadium during their homecoming and expect to have a win just given to you. Good game.

Good overall analysis Bobkat. The one thing I think OF needs to prepare for is the 1-2 punch of the runningbacks. Friday's game had the team riding on the qb's back with one of the starting rbs on the sideline most of the night. I do not know if he was hurt or what. At any rate when those two rbs are going and the qb starts the option it is hard to stop. I would think this game will be won at the o-line. If Silsbee is able to blow OF off of the line OF will be in for a long night if McCarter is running the ball. Anyway I hope for a good game.

K'ville lucked out and beat Jasper 2 years ago. The fans who posted on the Down Low board talked so much smack it was pitiful. The arrogance got slapped in Silsbee a few weeks later. Last season once again Silsbee beat you boys. If you were not impressed by the Tigers then you really shouldn't be impressed with your squad. Most folks do not have anything against the school or the community, it is the posters who let their mouths run without the ability to back it up that is grating.

All of this is possible but we can all agree silsbee is a good time giving nederland and houston sterling a run for the money. Now granted Png did beat silsbee but so did lumberton.
:?:
Funny Silsbee is 2-1 with their only lose coming at the hands of PNG.
-
How big are the OF lines? If Silsbee's oline is able to control the line, OF is in for a very long night with Silsbee's speedy rbs.
-
Granted it was a good solid win for Silsbee but definitely no room for gloating/bragging etc.. Good luck to Newton, they will do very well once again.
-
I was worried when I seen a couple of the line starters not dressed for this week's game. We had some sophomores step up tonight.

I agree. Newton was fast and had faster scoring drives. Silsbee's drives were alot slower. IMO this worked in Silsbee's favor late. There is only so much pounding a body can take. It is tough for any small school to go 4 quarters in a tough game with low reserve players.

Explain.....
It was a pretty even game throughout. With the hot humid night, fatigue was a factor, but both squads were beginning to suffer. It was a game where whoever had the ball last was going to win. Newton could not stop Silsbee's last drive and Silsbee was in a prevent trying to slow Newton late. It was just a good solid small town football game. It was everything a "game of the week " should be. Newton may have lost, but they played a very good game and will go far. Few penalties were called except where obvious such as a pass int. and a few face masks. The kids were allowed "to play".

Very tough game. Newton is a very solid team.....once again. Silsbee has got to get the option handoff under control. You reach a point where you let the handoff go through. For you guys left to play Newton here are a few tips. When you see Newton's #21 line up in the wing in an angle set he is going to run to that side he is facing. When the 2 backfield players are offset to the end of the o-line the ball is headed that side. They are simple.......but stop it if you can.

Chad "PRIMETIME" Lutrull
Is that you Chad? It has been awhile.
I have to agree with Ty Cobb.....Morgan was a stud.

I have not heard of anyone out for this week's game.
-
Yep, I think it is great to have winning programs at all levels but the reality is the top talent is taken from those sub varsity squads and placed on varsity. Especially in the small schools.
-
Why must some folks once again get ahead of themselves? Last week rather than focusing on BC some were already talking about this game. This week rather than focusing on Cleveland in the "Cleveland" thread some want to take shots at Nederland.
-
I watched in week 1 to watch highlights of Silsbee versus Sterling and they had the wrong footage with the info they were reading. It was disarray. I didn't watch anything else after that.
-
The basketball boys walked off this past week.
-
Why thank you Broadcaster. We have a few more games to win before we are the state champions however, but we do appreciate your support.
-
I think it will be a good game. I am looking forward to it. I wish Silsbee was coming into it on a winning note but every now and then you need a little adversity to help improve your weaknesses.
-
It seemed Silsbee killed themselves with costly turnovers and penalties last night. I think it should have been a closer game scorewise. Obviously PNG has a shot in the district this year.
Any NEW excuses???

With the exception of possibly an injury (must be bad since they just had a bye week) there is absolutely no excuses Ozen can use. Kids should keep their grades up and the coaching staff needs to monitor the situation better if this is a problem. Ozen has defintely underperformed thus far this season. PNG is playing well. I'm glad to see my Tigers put up a better fight.
