Buna ISD Responds to Racist Photo of Blackfaced Student
SmashMouth replied to BMTSoulja1's topic in Local Headlines
Nice save attempt. Lol. But he never said it once in the movie. You confused him with Clevon Little. Lol. Although Richard Pryor was one of the many writers, Richard Pryor did not write most of the racial lines in that movie. Pryor’s main focus was the character Mongo according to Mel Brooks. Pryor WAS used as the “license” to use all the racial slurs though. Brooks figured that if Pryor was a part of the movie (he was actually offered the main role by Brooks, but Warner Bros didn’t want someone with such little screen experience), he could get away with a lot more. In recent documentaries about both himself and Richard Pryor, Mel Brooks said, “Pryor wrote the Jewish jokes, the Jews wrote the black jokes.” In other words, it wasn’t a matter of who wrote what, because it wasn’t meant to be harmful or derogatory. And THAT is my point. -

Btw, Richard Pryor wasn't in Blazing Saddles...it was Cleavon Little. So you're saying they all look alike??? -

Apples & Oranges friend. A young man dressing up as Madea is WAYYYYYYY different than calling a black person a derogatory slur. More like a Kiwi fruit & a tricycle... not even in the ball park. -

Maybe we should cancel Cheech & Chong because it's offensive to dope smokers. -

Remember Dan Aykroyd dressed up with his face painted black in Trading Places starring with Eddie Murphy. Eddie didn't seem to have a big problem... It was harmless. -

I literally cannot. Ask a black kid what a minstrel show is... Show a black audience the clip of Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor where Gene Wilder has his face painted black (before the "black-face" phenomenon surfaced) and tell me how many of them laughed their butts off. It's all contrived. -

Only God has the power to give Ben the strength and courage needed to endure this. Please keep praying for him or add him to your prayer list at church. Thank you again.

Yes and Amen

Lmao. Like Jaren Carpenter sang, “It’s only just begun…”

Thank you. The illness is almost unheard of for such a young man who is otherwise in excellent health.

Ben Featherston played on the D-Line with my son for the Raiders. He graduated this year with Academic Scholarships to Baylor. He is an awesome kid. Please read the Facebook post from his family below: “Update for Ben Featherston! 10/31/21 For Ben, this weekend has been a time of rest and stabilization in preparation for a big surgery tomorrow. As y'all know, Ben's body remains in a state of instability which is preventing his liver & kidneys from recovering. This instability is coming from his legs which were severely injured from lack of blood flow from cardiogenic shock when Ben's illness started on 9/29/21. Now, 32 days later, his legs have not been able to recover despite numerous debridements & surgeries. And, as his legs worsen, they release toxins into his body that keep his blood pressure unstable & keep his liver and kidneys very sick. This is very much a life or death situation. The only solution in stopping this viscous cycle is amputation. Ben will have both legs amputated above the knee tomorrow. Ben is aware of the situation and has shown strength beyond his age. We have told him he has an army of Drs and nurses fighting for him and a second army of friends and family fighting for him and lastly, God's army surrounding him. His fight continues to amaze us!Thank you for your continued love & prayers. Ben needs them now more than ever!” I beg of each of you that reads this to say a simple prayer for Ben’s health and recovery. I wish you could know what a great and decent kid this young man is. Thank you.
