Well I guess I might be the BAD guy  here. LN was great for Nederland. He turned them from the laughing stock of the district into a contender for the DC yearly. I would think Nederland would be better off hiring Monte over an outsider. My reasons are this.. Nederland has been good at being a little above average. They are not making deep playoff runs on a regular basis. And we all know the facilities are not the best in the area, much less the state. That being said, I find it hard to believe they could get a better qualified, dedicated coach like Monte to replace LN. Big time coaches are looking for money, facilities, and athletes. Not bashing any Nederland coach or fan, because they have done better then everyone else in the district for years, and have been the only glimmer of hope many of years to go a few rounds. I just think as a whole, if I was looking for a place to coach.. I would first ask, why are bonds never passed in Nederland? Why do we have old facilities? And what does my feeder schools look like for athletes. And of course, how much money are you going to pay me!!! LN was a special coach that fit perfect in the city of Nederland. And IMO, you already have a guy on the staff that knows the city, fans, and families, that is dedicated, and has been mentored by LN for years... Good luck on whatever happens.... But as I have stated for years, you can never count out Nederland because of the LN factor.... It might be interesting now....

I was privately told this a week ago. Asked not to say anything till he personally made the announcement and got to speak with players. Was told it would happen today, not yesterday.

My friend, it looks like the folks at the Nederland ISD took care of that.  It appears that they sent out a press release.

Well for starters Congrats Coach Neuman on your career it was one of the better ones in our area. Secondly this is kind of odd. I have been out of the loop just happen to look at KFDM yesterday to find out about this. I have family in Nederland and they said at the end of last season he was talking about his next two years teams and he was thinking they had a chance to be a god group of kids. Good luck Coach  I hope your retirement is as enjoyable as you want it to be.

Why would you keep it quiet when the news already has it out for everyone. I have to say he had a hell of a run, Hats off to him and his successful program. He surely had our number for sure as well as the districts!

Nederland won't be the same without him. I'm kinda sad.

I'm sure surprised.   Guess he's just tired of the grind.  Hope he's got a recliner.  Absolute necessity for retired folks.  Just a suggestion Coach.
And one more thing, you did a heckuva job coaching.  You will be missed when the 2017 football season starts up.  Enjoy your Retirement.

want to use this time to bring up a dead horse and the same stuff i preach in general. THE COACHING IN THIS AREA SUCKS. i'll use PAM game today as an example. Temple didn't do ANYTHING fancy. they barley was winning games this year, but they looked polished. nothing looked like a mistake. ANY LOCAL TEAM, including PNG, that think this was a good run for your team is smoking the same bong that Kenny ray, Neumann, faircloth, Matthews, forman and any coach in Jefferson county or in the region(you know what I mean). you look at the teams that beat ALL our teams. you saw a totally different product on the otherside. I don't think those kids are no better than the ones we all support. but this mediocre of football we accept is plain dumb. I don't, but the majority of people on this board pride themselves on DC...beating a cross town rival...getting so many players in D1 schools...etc...the Manvels, Tempels, Marshalls, etc...DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT. IT'S A WAY OF LIFE!! Katy I'm willing to bet come Monday it's like august have started. weight rooms should be clanking away. come summer, wr and qb's need to have sleep overs and work together.. WITH THE PLAYBOOK. OL and DL need to be in camps learning technique...but hey as long as everyone makes the playoffs in cupcake world, make it to the 2nd and 3rd rd...it's all honky dory...THATS A LOSERS MENTALITY AND WE NEED TO GET EVERYONE A PARTICIPATION TROPHY!!! DEMAND MORE OF THESE COACHES!!!! PAM ran the same plays over and over...they look like sand lot plays!!!!! PAM and PNG looked good, but NEITHER played ANYONE. Johnson looked slow against PAM and was sacked 7 times. BF made no adjustment. read the PASNOOZE where PAM DC admits he dial the defense back when a comfortable lead is obtained..like a 31-14 lead in the fourth and looked what had happen. almost ended in a loss!! I will give LN this. he don't make DUMB decisions, he knows where to play people, but that's about it. maybe the talent he has is overwhelmed when he gets to the 3rd rd?? idk, but this HORRIBLE!! 
WOS- you are in a different convo. it's just you guys are fortunate to have great coaching with nice athletes....that play boo boo teams, which you can't help that. it is what it is. you guys don't see any real comp till rd 4 or 5 lol....enjoy it...

How many people actually want the Mighty Pirates to win tonight verses the 6A SPAM team whose numbers put them into 5A because png and nederville draft players from there. I'm going to go with the pirates on this one Vidor 42.  Pam 21.   As I said before all teams and coaches in our district play Vidors offense every year this will be a first for Pam..a couple of three and outs for Pam as I predict and it will be Vidors game...all night

2 pretty good coaches. For my money I'll take Cornel Thompson over either of them. 

I wasn't at the game and I don't know if this was the reason for the comment but I was told that there was some frustration because every time our band started playing so did theirs. Unfortunately our band is not loud so they were getting overpowered. Maybe our band director should teach our band to play where they can be heard. I've always been bothered by the fact that we can't hear our band even if the other band isn't playing at the same time.

Can someone please tell Ozens Band and "drill team" to stop! Are there any adults in charge of that school? At some point, someone has got to put an end to this nonsense!

Yes, twice as many teams would make the playoffs and districts would be smaller,  but ultimately, the best teams will be the ones in the regional finals and beyond.  I don't see more football as a bad thing, even if the first couple rounds of the playoffs are a little watered down. 

You're not talking apples and apples my friend. GCM is a poor example of what I'm talking about and I'm willing to bet they get their act together in the future and start winning some games. Look at the average of teams...you probably have 50 seniors on your varsity alone. Big 5A. Livingston and Lumberton both probably had only 30 players on the sideline period. I think we suit up 40 on varsity. Long run small schools can't compete with that. Barbers Hill has enough money and is growing fast enough to go and buy the top coach in Texas. Can't compete with that. I know all you PA folks felt that when you were in 6A playing the GPNS of the world and going 3 - 7. Glad you're in the district but you're proving my point.
