I beleive that BonMot was speaking about the part that said...........".imagine if no-one played year round club soccer and only played in high school... That would be a kick ball fest and a real spectacle to watch.." Well I am a coach at a High School and THREE of my players play soccer year around.  And I CAN ASSURE you that my team is in no way a KICKBALL fest but actually play a possession style game and can actually play soccer. HOW because I .. the high school coach does TEACH a style of soccer that is how the game was meant to be played.  And I believe Bon Mot was saying that other sports play year around also, baseball, softball and as for football.  They have their spring practice and during the summer they have their 7 v 7 and start in August .  And along with their daily routine of weights and agilities in their athletic class....... it is a year around event.  I am thrilled and fortunate to have 3 year around players.  But for me.... I teach the game. Sure not all high school coaches care and or do the same.  But alot of the coaches do teach the rite things.

Thanks Coach.  Your team was clean and fun to play.  Worked hard and your players can play so you should make some noise in playoff race. Good luck with the rest of your season.

Kelly Guys played at Klein showcase  and went 0-2-1.  First game was Klein Forest and we tied 0-0.                                                                           2nd game was Klein Collins and we lost 1-0                                                                           3rd game was cy ridge and we lost 2-0 In all the games we played very well using the wholse bench . Had some great chances but didnt finish them.  A great weekend of soccer. Want to see a good team come watch Kingwood Park and Kelly play Monday night at Kelly. 5 and 7...

Playing on another night wont work.. Monday nights gives you no practice day before  a game night.  Thursday night would be okay but its about,  Cold verses comfort.  You do have several coaches that are soccer coaches locally.  And trying to get club kids to come to the games is a good idea.  They used to play at halftime but most as soon as the half was over were GONE. Because of the cold weather and some didnt come until game time.  Rivalry games used to draw a load of people locally.  Nederland and PNG playing each other in the late 90s would bring probably near a thousand people to the games if not more than that on sevearl occassions.  Nederland had a playoff game against Clear Creek I beleive at their place when the coach they have now played.  I believe night the crowd was in excess of 2000 people.  It was amazing.  At Kelly our playoff game last year \ we probably had from Kelly alone nearly 500 people.  And thats a school of 410 kids.  It was very loud and great conditions.  Its possible if the team goes out and ask their friends to come make some noise.  Invite a soccer league out for a night and let them in FREE If they have on a jersey from the league. Yes you may not have a gate but concessions and parents of these kids pay.  PLENTY of ways to do it. Use your imagination.

You have good points in your post.  However most of the kids go to the games to hang out more than to follow the game.  They visit and get to see a friend, and so you have a choice.  Outside in freezing cold wind or rain or all three, Or the warmth of a gym.  At Kelly this year so far we have had really good attendence because the weather has been nice and warm and not competing with a home basketball game.  The attendence at Nederland and PNG games have dropped considerably and I would think alot is to do with weather as much as the success of the basketball at Nederland.  Consider both sports play on the same nights and your competing for the same crowds. Just my opinion.  However i am very happy to say our crowds have grown and I suspect its due to the weather being nice and dry this season. And as for this soccer forum.... This forum has completely died as of late and would hope people start posting something of real soccer discussion.  Hope all starts and gets better locally with the soccer.

Very fun time at Kelly Boys playing Kelly guys graduates....  Alumni played well and the varsity that were in town did well.  Final 3-1 old timers winning.  Had good turnout and some food and drinks afterward.  Was clean .... played

So would I have a reason.  I guess PnG has alot of good players coming back and the best keeper in the area public school ranks.  And Nederland just has alot returning.  That is why I say that.  If thats what you were asking

It still should be Nederland and PNG fighting for the top spot.  Would figure it that way.....

6pm  at the Spindletop Select Fields at Quinn soccer complex

I was at the same game.  KELLY had many more than six yards rushing and HC had many more than 4.  The first down count may be close.  The play calling you talk about was not at all the case.  3 runs but different runs and the 4th was a pass that fell short.    3 Runs 1 PASS is not the same play four times. Two field goals would have won the game but not helped them advance to playoffs.  Had to win by 3 to advance so two field goals were useless.  None the less it was a well played second half.  Soph quarterback did the best he had...  and the rest of the team stepped up and tried their hardest... unlucky

Kelly Lady Dawgs will host St Louis High School from Lake Charles out at the Quinn Complex Tuesday Nov 9th....  Want to see a quality girls soccer team and probably the top Lady program in the area.  Come support and watch this game..... go lady dawgs

Tuesday November 9th Kelly Men will host Sulphur High School for a 530 JV and 7 Varsity Scrimmage.  Should be played at the stadium.  Going to be a young kelly team  and should be entertaining.  Thursday November 11th Kelly host St Louis High School from Lake Charles.  Defending state champions and ranked Number one div 3 school in Louisiana.  Always a quality game and fast paced.  Hope to see some people come out and watch.  November 9th.      Home verse Sulphur November 11        Home verse St Louis High November 16        At Lafayette verse Acadiana High School November 18        At Houston St Thomas Tournament November 19        At Houston St Thomas Tournament November 30        At HOUSTON CHRISTIAN.....  DISTRICT

Its a total of games.  One tournament means you take away so many games.  and so on..  confusing. 

Like any good head coach.  We lost the State Championship game and someone has to take the fall.  It was all him.      sorry............  no we have a huge increase in numbers and looking for someone who is willing to help both.....  Plus Jacob college classes have caused some problems but he will be varsity assistant and probably still Jv coach. 

I am looking for a JV/assistant Coach.  Pay isnt great.   Soccer is.    Coach isnt great.  Soccer is.  If you are willing to have some fun,  be responsible and show up.  KNOW soccer and LOVE it.  Really would like for the coach to be a college person,  who has played and understands the game.  Thanks .. Someone told me Fiddler crabs or the  small crabs with ONE big pincher  are good bait.  Is this true and how much do they sell for. 

Yea then when we can get the Kelly field operating climate control it will be a great thing.  Should be a nice facility to have available for the youth around here.
