  1. There is nothing definite, but I heard that Dr. Elza indicated at the THSCA Clinic yesterday that anybody not on the field, would probably have to wear masks. But again, nothing official has come down from the UIL
  2. If they are against 6A/5A opponents, I guess so. But if they are against, 4A opponents probably not.
  3. Exactly. However, they are going to have to find 6A/5A opponents for their non-district games as when they start playing games, many of the 4A-1A schools will be starting district.
  4. While, the start date remains the same for 4A-1A (for now), this still impacts them. With the TAPPS, UIL, Dallas County and HISD orders/schedules, here is a synopsis of games lost for SETX schools: West Brook: Wk 3 Houston Lamar Baytown Lee: Wk. 2 at Splendora, Wk 3 vs. Lumberton Baytown Sterling: Wk 3 at Houston Washington Crosby: Wk 1 vs. Carthage Dayton: Wk 2 vs. Livingston Nederland: Wk 1 at West Orange-Stark; Wk 2 vs. Houston Austin; Wk 3 at Silsbee Huffman Hargrave: Wk 2 vs. Tomball Concordia Lutheran Little Cypress-Mauriceville: Wk 5 vs. Houston Kinkaid Livingston: Wk 1 at Concordia Lutheran; Wk 2 at Dayton Splendora: Wk 2 vs. Baytown Lee Vidor: Wk 2 vs. Houston St. Pius X West Orange-Stark: Wk 1 vs. Nederland Hardin: Wk 3 vs. Beaumont Kelly Catholic Kountze: Wk 3 vs Beaumont Legacy Christian; Wk 4 at Beaumont Kelly Catholic Burkeville: Wk 1 at Beaumont Legacy Christian Evadale: Wk 1 at Beaumont Kelly Catholic Sabine Pass: Wk 1 at Pasadena First Baptist; Wk 3 vs. Spring Frassati Catholic Chester: Wk 4 vs Baytown Christian
  5. You also have to wonder whether this from the Harris Co. judge caused some pause with the UIL: [Hidden Content] Now, unlike the Dallas Co. order, this is just "urging" the district to close. But if they decide to do what Hidalgo has urged, it has some pretty big effects on some of our area teams.
  6. I saw Coach Rowe's tweet about that earlier. Prayers to the Hood family, the Brahmas and the Bellville community.
  7. I have heard some who alleged, right or wrong, that the UIL didn't want to disrupt the THSCA Virtual Clinic going on this week.
  8. Apparently, Dr. Elza told ADs at the THCSA Coaching School that there would be no update from the UIL today.
  9. I see a major shortage in all facets, player, coach and referee.

  11. Not really, the information didn't set out a start date for baseball but the championships deadline is late June (June 26th).
  12. California has moved football to a December start and an April finish.
  13. I saw this tweet from a DMN sports writer this morning. It was a quote from UIL AD Dr. Susan Elza yesterday: UIL AD Susan Elza at THSCA Coaching School: "We feel like we're going to have seasons. We're hopeful to have some sort of announcement this week. We're still in an approval process. There is no guarantee that there will be an announcement tomorrow."
  14. Sounds like the TAPPS model.
  15. Well, perhaps there is a little clarification before the question is answered. With the exception of one (West Hardin ISD who has pushed back its start date to September 8th), schools in this area (as currently planned) will start on time and have in person or face to face instruction from the jump with an option for virtual learning. And as far as I know, no school district in the area has stated that they will shut down their athletic program during the period that virtual learning is an option and only one in the area has made in person learning a requirement to participating in athletics and other extracurricular activities. And yes, the majority of school districts in Texas are following that model. Comparatively, very few districts have adopted the model of virtual teaching only and have proclaimed no extracurricular activities during the period of virtual teaching. The problem is that those districts, cities or counties are in high profile areas.....City of Austin, Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD, School Districts in Dallas County....and the squeaky wheel does get the oil.
  16. I have a question. Since Tyler ISD has now set the precedent that the using John Tyler's name has racial underpinnings and it is inappropriate to name any facility in Tyler ISD after John Tyler, can someone tell me when the special meeting is set for Tyler ISD to change its name from, well, Tyler ISD?
  17. This will probably be a moot point starting tomorrow.
  18. According to reports I have seen, TAPPS did not address the issue of fan attendance and I really don't expect them to do that until just before games begin. It is just too early for them to make a pronouncement one way or the other. As to stadium usage, that is not as big an issue for TAPPS as it is for large school UIL playoffs. Normally, the first round of TAPPS playoffs are played in the home stadium of the higher seed and that often times follows in the second round. As you are talking about smaller schools, even with larger TAPPS schools like Concordia, St. Pius, St. Thomas, Bishop Lynch and Bishop Dunne, college and pro stadiums are hardly ever used. In fact, Midway High School in Waco was the site of the 2019 TAPPS State Championship Games.
  19. I must admit a mistake on this preview (like I haven't had to do it before). I had Easton Walker listed at both tight end and split end. The tight end, as it has been for the last two years, will be senior Logan Bell. My apologies to Logan and Coach Mathews!
  20. The list was about games lost to the HISD edict. But you are correct, due to the Dallas County edict, PAM vs. Lancaster has been lost.
