Count Huffman as the latest ISD to restart their program up. Just received an email from Coach Mac confirming that.

You can gather by my bud's post that Huffman ISD has restarted and will start their practices on August 3rd with their full schedule being reinstated.

As to Goose Creek, they voted last night to delay the start of class until September 8th and go virtual only for the first 3 weeks. However, they did also decide that students could participate in extracurricular activities during the time of virtual learning.

Yep. The AG's opinion took the power to close districts away from counties and cities and said that it was specifically for the individual districts. In fact, Katy (who has schools in Harris County) and Humble ISD's have started up strength and conditioning again.

That probably got put on hold due to the McLennan County order that shut down schools in the county, including La Vega and Connally, until just about a couple of hours ago after the county rescinded their order.

Oh, I exchanged messages with Coach Williams and as of late last week, Evadale was still looking for a Week 1. It is not a favorite choice of Coach Thompson, but he has indicated that he is willing to play anyone to get another game in......remember KIPP Northeast. And Coach Williams has proven that he is not afraid of lining up against a much bigger school....the game you referenced is sufficient evidence of that. On second thought, who knows, it may happen. LOL!

That is the issue. In this area, the only option for a Week 1 game would be Evadale (no, I'm not kidding). Statewide, the picture does n't look any better. So Franklin, absent some of these programs who are now able to restart, might be the last best option for WO-S for a Wk 1 game.

What I fear is that these teams will have schools that they had orginally scheduled that have moved to other opponents. Perhaps not Huffman as they haven't been shut down for very long. But I could see some teams having this problem.

Humble ISD has also indicated that it is starting S&C back up tomorrow.

By way of posts keeping with the actual title of the freaking topic (I know BECAUSE I CREATED IT) East Chambers has replaced Mexia with West Rusk for its 8/28 (Wk1) game. The game will still be held at Abe Martin in Lufkin.

Locally, the biggest change would be in Huffman, which, if they decide to, would be able to report next Monday as opposed to Sept. 8 and hopefully reclaim those first four games. The HISD 4A schools won't be helped by this as the order currently delaying them IS an HISD ordered closure. Up north it should have some impact and in McClennan County it could have a big impact as schools like La Vega and Mart could climb from under that county's order.

I'd have no problem with them playing. Year in and year out, Franklin has shown itself to be a quality 3A-I program who would give WO-S the test it needs. I just hope it gets done as I don't want either team to be on the sidelines for week 1.
