1. A few more teams punched their tickets to the dance last week.  By this time Friday evening, all of the answers will become evident.  But for now, here is what needs to happen. NOW, let me give this disclaimer.  When I talk about what needs to happen for a team to clinch, I am in no way predicting that the event will occur!   For the current standings please click this link: [Hidden Content] Here is just a little synopsis of the playoff picture in each of our districts and their respective bi-districts.  Next week, we'll outline as well the potential bi-district battles! Enjoy! 21-5A Who's in:                                 North Shore has clinched the DI #1 seed out of #21-5A.  West Brook has clinched the DI #2 seed. LaPorte has clinched the #1 DII seed out of District 21-5A. Who can clinch next week:         PA Memorial can clinch the second DII berth with 1) a win over Baytown Sterling next Saturday OR 2) a loss by less than 10 points to Baytown Sterling AND a Channelview loss to North Shore.  Channelview could gain that spot by a win and a PA Memorial loss to Baytown Sterling.  Baytown Sterling can get in the playoffs with a win over PA Memorial by 10 points are more AND a Channelview loss.                                                                               Bidistrict Foes:                         Pasadena Dobie and Deer Park will be the DI representatives out of District 22-5A.  Dobie and Deer Park will play next week to determine the seeding. LaPorte will take on South Houston, the DII #2 seed out of 22-5A.  Pasadena Memorial, the DII #1 seed awaits the 21-5A DII #2 seed.                                               19-4A Who's in:                                  Dayton had clinched the district championship and the DII, #1 seed.  Barbers Hill has clinched the DII, #2 seed, Crosby has clinched the DI, #1 seed. Then, the Bulldogs would need a win of at least 3 points over LC-M.                                                 Lumberton is in with a win AND a Livingston loss AND a Nederland loss.                                                   Vidor is in with a win AND a Lumberton loss AND a Nederland loss. 2. Looking back, I didn't realize things would go this far. Let me first start off by telling what I am NOT apologizing for and that is the week long banishment of jesusfreak.  He had taken it upon himself to trash the site in open forum and I simply care too much for such conduct to go unsanctioned.  I harbor no remorse about that action and would do the same today in the same situation. That being said, I want to apologize to you guys, especially to Jordan, Mike, Joey and Kerry as I certainly didn't intend my action to trigger the reaction that have caused each of you in some way angst and bother in what I thought was a simple disagreement between me and another moderator. Sorry, guys.
 3. Another mod pm'd me this morning stating the exact same thing.  Well, I will be at Eastex on a project that I promised, in between my tasks at work.  It is a lot quieter over there and today that is a good thing.
 4. And he is started on it again, this morning.  Joey, you better settle that boy down.
 5. You are gpnna have to catch me up, Mike.  What has he done since I was on the road.
 6. Great news!  Continued wishes for a speedy recovery.  For those that may not recall, Mark Foreman was one of the driving forces for the overdue All-Star Classic that was played this fall.  And I also know that any kid at WO-S that crosses his path, whether they are an athlete or not, is considered his kid. Again, get well soon, Coach Foreman!
 7. One very hot high school coaching prospect just went on the market.
If you have the grades, good conduct etc, you can in LCM's case pay a yearly fee and go to school there even if you live outside of the district. I believe WOS and Deweyville are open schools.
Yep, that is my understanding, limited as it is, to open enrollment.
 10. Now that it is out there, this story won't end until the district executive committee either 1)says that there is not enough to the story to investigate or 2) they do investigate and clear the school.
 11.
IF this story was reported by a local news station with the only evidence being an anonymous letter....   shame on them. As for setxsports...  I have seen topics that were ALOT less inflammatory and with more facts than this story get removed from the website more than once. Very unprofessional...
My apologies on your disappointment.  However, when the largest news media outlet in the area reports a story that will completely change the outlook of what is one the marquis districts for this site and for many of the teams that play in it (not just LCM), it is more than appropriate to make mention of that article.   Here is the standings of the district now:

20-4A          Ovr.                  Dist.

Team(ADM)        W        L                      W        L

Beaumont Central(1624)        5        2        4        0

Little Cypress-Mauriceville(1125)                6        1        3        1

Lumberton(1063.5)        5        2        2        2

Livingston(1148)        5        2        2        2

Port Neches-Groves(1401)        3        4        2        2

Vidor(1416)        2        5        2        2

Nederland(1459)        2        5        1        3

Beaumont Ozen(1227)        1        6        0        4

IF LC-M were to have been found to use an ineligible player and forfeit it's district wins to date, this would be how the district would stand:

20-4A          Ovr.                  Dist.

Team(ADM)        W        L                      W        L

Beaumont Central(1624)        5        2        4        0

Lumberton(1063.5)        6        1        3        1

Vidor(1416)        3        5        3        1

Livingston(1148)        5        2        2        2

Port Neches-Groves(1401)        3        4        2        2

Nederland(1459)        2        5        1        3

Beaumont Ozen(1227)        2        5        1        3

Little Cypress-Mauriceville(1125)                0        7        0        4

This would change the picture for schools such as Lumberton and Vidor, who are currently fighting for their playoff lives.   Will any subsequent investigation reveal that this was much ado about nothing?  Hopefully, it will.  But a story that is reported and which causes immediate and substantive changes within the largest district which is wholly populated by area teams was and IS appropriate for discussion until the issue is officially resolved.
 12. The stats are now caught up through October 16th.  Thanks again to Coach David Martel at Hardin-Jefferson, Coach Larry Haynes and Coach Brian Beck at Hardin, Coach Jason Henry at West Hardin, Coach Steve Fentress at Woodville, Coach Russell McDaniel at Deweyville, Coach Jim Crews at Colmesneil, Coach Justin Charrier at High Island, Coach Bryan Barbay at Coldspring, Coach J.B. Orr at Liberty, Coach Mike McEachern at Huffman, Coach Kevin Terrier at Buna, Coach Mike Stewart at Kountze, Mike Sanchez and Dennis Sedtal for their help with this weeks stats! Thanks all!
 13. 1 week of district left!
 14.
The sad thing is that the coaches know the rules and decide to risk getting caught knowing what it will coat the entire team if they do. No player no matter how good is worth destroying all of these young men's hard work and efforts. May be it will turn out to be untrue. Best of luck to all of the LCM team hope it turns out ok for you. Your whole team has shown a lot of class and sportsmanship this season.
Well, let's let all of the facts get out before pointing fingers here.  We don't know if the player is indeed ineligible, that is being investigated.  If he is, let's not automatically assume the level of knowledge that anyone on the coaching staff had.
 15.
Very sad for the team.... guess its also possible (if true) they could win out and still qualify for postseason play? Maybe?
Doubtful. If they have to forfeit all of their district victories to date, that would leave them at 0-4 in district.  It is not impossible, but unlikely.

 21. As was announced on KFDM Channel 6's Sports Xtra last night, here are the SETXsports.com Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for Week 8: Offense - David Green, QB, Beaumont Ozen Green was brilliant in the Panthers' near upset of Port Neches-Groves on Saturday, racking up huge numbers in the 49-42 double overtime loss to the Indians.  Green completed 19 of 33 passes for 309 yards and 4 touchdowns.  He added 105 yards and 2 more touchdowns on 19 carries for the Panthers.  That's right, 414 total yards and 6 touchdowns on the night. Defense - Ethan Clark, DB, Buna Clark had 4 tackles and 2 interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns in Buna's 55-7 rout of Kountze.  Clark took one interception to the house from 46 yards out and returned the other 38 yards! CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH OF THESE YOUNG MEN! Remember to tune in every Sunday night at 10:15 for the KFDM Channel 6 Sports Xtra to see who will be the next SETXsports.com Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week!
 22. Finally, three days after it was played, I have finally gotten a score from the Galveston O'Connell/Huntsville Alpha Omega game.  I can confirm that the game was indeed played that Huntsville Alpha Omega, in it's sixth game of the season, finally.... ......scored.  They scored 12 points!  Unfortunately, they gave up 40 in the 40-12 loss to O'Connell on Friday night! Here's to the Alpha Omega Lions and their continued battles this season as they prove that effort does count for something!
