More challenging. See, a low performing school does not mean students are not learning, it means those schools deal with issues suburban schools don't have to deal with. Kids at Yates are learning but the negative news outweighs the good.
First, lower socio-eco students are not strictly the province of urban school districts.  Second, unlike is apparently the case in HISD where attendance zones for districts mean squat, the rural districts are under more constraints as they must cater to all who are in their attendance zone.  If such rigid constraints were in place for HISD, we'd be a lot less likely to be having this discussion.
I call BS on that statement, WOSgrad!! You think there are any low socio-economic kids at Kingwood High? What about Cinco Ranch? Heck no! Urban schools deal with MANY more issues than you realize...MANY MORE...Come on, man, you know better than that.. :o
They are public schools which means they have kids in their zones, regardless of issue.  I know that BOTH schools that you mentioned that have low socio economic kids.....they just don't complain about them.

If worse comes to worse, southern Arkansas could be an option since Jasper is up in deep east TX. I think the Lufkin JV is worth a look too, like BTP said. Hope it works out somehow.
As far as out of state, Coach Barbay is way ahead of you.  He has called in Louisiana, Arkansas AND Mississippi without any luck.

As is Houston Wheatley. And I can assure you, as Nash can probably verify, that Cornel Thompson has not submitted 41 PAPF forms for the 21-3A DEC to consider.

 6.
WO-S will u b attending?
I wish I could, but prior commitments will prevent from it this year.
 7. Coach Barbay e-mailed that they are still looking for that 10th game.  If you know a school that has less than 10 games on their schedule and has either Sept. 28 or Oct. 12 free, they can contact Darrell Barbay at 409-679-2514.
 8. Just looking for a few schedules to complete the schedule thread: Diboll (need 1 game) Jasper (need 1 game) Kountze (need 1 game) New Waverly Cushing Grapeland West Hardin Burkeville (need 2 games) Sabine Pass (need 2 games) Chester Oakwood Beaumont Kelly Concordia Lutheran Galveston O'Connell The Woodlands Christian (need 2 games) Bellville Faith Brenham Christian Houston Texas Christian Magnolia Legacy Prep Orange Community Christian (need 1 game)
 9. As I understand, there will be no live stream of the game.  We requested to do a live webcast of the game, but the TV station that will be showing the game tape delayed nixed that. I think the best thing to do is to make the drive to Beaumont (if you can), get a good look at some very nice facilities at Provost Umphrey and support the kids and the Southeast Texas Coaches Association by showing up, buying a ticket and have these young men end their high school playing days in front of a big crowd!
 10.
That's what I've heard. I go hunting for it the day it comes out in area wal marts
That is what I used to do.  But somehow last year, I was fooled into thinking that the handling fee that I also paid would mean that I would get it earlier than when it hit the shelves.  Nope, don't think so.  Same thing goes for the Rivals magazine.
 11. DO NOT PRE-ORDER THIS MAGAZINE!!! YOU WILL NOT GET IT UNTIL A FULL TWO WEEKS AFTER IT HAS BEEN ON THE SHLEF!!!
 12. THAT is an impressive list!
You forgot his iron clad guarantee in this very forum that Houston ISD was going to appeal the placing of, ironically, the same Yates High School in 3A.  And that HISD had "miscounted" the Yates student population.
And they DID WANT to appeal it but the HISD administration said no...However you both conveniently forgot to answer my question to you both...HAS HJ HAD A PLAYER TRANSFER FOR ATHLETIC PURPOSES IN THE LAST 5 YEARS? We all KNOW the answer, I just want to know if you will man up and admit to the truth.
Already answered your question a half a dozen times, no.  Because I refuse to, unlike you, call Rodney Saveat a liar. Again, just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean I didn't answer it. The box was checked "no" and signed by Rodney Saveat and a Central high official.  Are you calling them liars?
Nope...certain guys have the attitude that if he wants to leave, let them go...I think, knowing Rodney Savaet, that was his stance..
DV- If I am understanding you correctly, this is what you are suggesting: 1.  There is a strong possibility that the transfer from Central to HJ (again 1 in five years) transferred for athletic purposes 2.  At the same time, the 41 kids( not one infive years but FORTY ONE RIGHT NOW- yet you wish to consider them as similar circumstances) who are trying to get into Yates are NOT trying to join the basketball program and have NEVER had a conversation with Mr. Wise about joining the program prior to submitting their application. When you have a chance, get on google and try to find something that will instruct you about joining the real world.
Who says they are NOT coming for other reasons other than basketball? Yates has a magnet school of communications careers, you know...Kids love radio and television too...I GUARANTEE they are not all basketball related..Not even 1/4 of them...1/8!....1/10th!! GUARANTEE IT..
If he signs off saying the transfer was not for athletic purposes and you say that the kid did transfer for athletic purposes, then you are calling Rodney Saveat a liar. As for Yates, let's look at their 10 year window that you specified: 2002 - Low performing 2003 - NR 2004 - Unacceptable 2005 - Acceptable 2006 - Unacceptable 2007 - Acceptable 2008 - Acceptable 2009 - Acceptable 2010 - Acceptable 2011 - Unacceptable Yeah, I would want my kid going to THIS school for an education. Game over, insert quarter and try again.
 16. Here is some info from KOGT.  It doesn't say where you can get them.  But has some numbers that perhaps you can call to get that info: Registration forms should be returned in person to the following places: WOS Athletics Office, LCM HS Athletic Office, Lisa Hair Salon 1408 10th, Sisters & Friends 1111 Green, Dileo & Green Dentistry, 1208 Elm Street, Keith Wolfe, State Farm Insurance, 2431 MLK or mailed to Earl V. Thomas III Football Skill Camp, 5270 Tomcat Trail, Orange, TX 77632. 409-745-3119 or 409-779-6736

I've shown the reasonable academic argument for it, I've got two signatures from the "jilted" Beaumont ISD that say it. Just because you don't like my answer doesn't mean I haven't answered the question. Now, did the PAPF forms for those young men that had to "sit out and play JV" have the same signatures?  Evidently not.
WOS grad, I call BS...Those academic arguments are weak as water...Its not like Central was about to be shut down by TEA due to low scores!! They were MOSTLY acceptable and even Recognized...THATS BS...You KNOW, but will NEVER admit that HJ has gotten the fortune of transfers just as Yates has...Maybe not as many, but its all relative....YOU CANNOT TELL ME THAT A KID WOULD LEAVE CENTRAL FOR HJ FOR ACADEMICS...PLEASE! It was 100% basketball related...Do not insult people's intelligence on here trying to make the academic argument.
Just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean it isn't true.  When, H-J gets transfers that equal 4% of their ADA (1000/41=.041=4.1%), then you might have an argument. But you still haven't answered my question, are you calling Rodney Saveat a liar?
I agree.  Just think- not only do you have the good players that are from Yates, but 41 more trying to transfer in.  It makes things more than equitable, dont you agree?  It seems a little silly to suggest that for any reason OTHER than everyone is trying to go to school there, that the team is so good.  I't's gonna take DV a little time to respond because, for the sake of maintaining his self appointed image of " knowing everything" he is going to have to research the 41 incoming freshmen story and try to spin it some way by either saying he knew about it or it is no different than 1 transfer coming to HJ over the last 5 years.  Definitely very "similar' situations. ;D
So what! 41 STUDENTS want to attend a school that is rich in tradition...Does that mean they were recruited somehow to play basketball? NO...and as for those TEA ratings...I said BISD as a whole, NOT Central High alone....Please do not insult my intelligence by trying to somehow prove that the kid who transferred to HJ did not go for ATHLETIC PURPOSES...NOT TRYING TO HEAR THAT. HAVE THEY HAD A PLAYER IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS TRANSFER INTO THEIR SCHOOL FOR ATHLETIC PURPOSES? I know the answer to that one, just want to make sure a certain poster understands the definition of "transferring for athletic purposes".... ::)
Last I checked, HJ was the better team last year (since they beat Bmt Central). You want us to believe that he left an inferior team (Central) so he could get more PT at a superior school?? Hmmm??
SUPERIOR? Man you sound crazy! :o...I am not going to discuss in detail or call out kids by name, but if you are trying to convince me that ANY kid would leave a Beaumont school and play for HJ just for the sake of "academics" you can stop right now.
Didn't HJ beat Central last year? You claim that he transferred to HJ bc he was not getting enough PT, right? So he goes to a school with a better basketball team? How does that make sense? If you were sitting the bench at Kansas State, would you transfer to Kansas in hope of more PT??
You CANNOT compare the two...HJ has an outstanding coaching staff and basketball program...Central has neither, so why would a kid leave Central to go to HJ?....BASKETBALL PROGRAM
1) Um, I did look it up and I don't think you will like what I will find. [Hidden Content] Both Mr. Saveat and the Central coach or principal presumably signed off on a form that had "No" checked for that question. I guess the Beaumont ISD will be interested to hear that you, in your infinite knowledge, are ready to proclaim them liars.
Well, this is just speculation, but I imagine that after a hit during the Coldspring game caused him to miss a good part of baseball season, Matt took the prudent approach not to subject that shoulder to any further injury before heading off to Baylor. As for Chase, it may just be that informed either Coach Faircloth or the game organizers that he would opt out of the game. I guess what I am trying to say is that just because they are not on this roster doesn't mean that the organizers didn't want them to play.
