  3. 1st, she may very well be in your area, Brown is the last name so keep an eye out for her. Second, there are many more things way more important and I, like you, use this as a distraction. Third, at least you admit deficiencies, many here find their trash talk to be more witty than it usually is.
  4. Well, they are a site sponsor. LOL!
  5. Then please I pray that you are able to provide aid and comfort to my aunt from Louisiana who is there today to begin treatment for her cancer.

  14. Oh, so you wish to bring up a 24 year old issue to make you feel better (yes, folks he is talking about something that happened back in the 1990's)? When WO-S coaches unknowingly played a kid who had an incomplete (not failing, but incomplete) which rendered him ineligible? Yes, he played and WO-S forfeited those games, costing them a district championship and a playoff spot. Interestingly enough, no coach from WO-S received a reprimand from the (then) 20-4A district executive committee. Now, we fast forward to 2016 (24 years later!) and we have a coach who played a player for whom he sought a waiver. A waiver that is only appropriate after the DEC rules that a player has not met VERY BASIC residency requirements and rather than wait on the UIL to provide that waiver, he rushes him to the field, only to pay the price. WO-S knows better, a very talented kid named Alex Williams enrolled at WO-S last year, but rather than risking the work of his athletes, he did not allow Alex on the field for a game. You know, just when I think some of the folks who post things about Nederland might be a little harsh, learned gentlemen like you post things like this and remind me why they feel justified in doing so. I hope you had fun with your stone.
  15. Dear god! Not again!
  16. Well, I don't know that any on either rob's list or mine have a deep run in the playoffs in them. But at this point, the playoff chances for most if not all of them are better than even.
  17. From the article I read, Neumann agrees with you.
  18. Based upon my reading of Gabe's story as well as the appropriate UIL rules, that is my understanding as well.
  19. Please free to enlighten us.
  20. I don't normally agree with 14.2, but I think he has a valid point in that Crosby, more than anyone, has suffered by the UIL's refusal thus far to divide 5A into DI and DII in the same manner as 4A through 1A. In the second round, they are facing teams who even though they are some of the smaller teams in their district, still dwarf Crosby's ADM and have probably added 200-300 students (at least) since the ADM's are taken.
  21. I think you overestimate the value of instigating threads. Let's just say that I don't share your opinion and more importantly, neither does the guy who pays all of the bills for the site that you and I get to play on. And again, he has not been banished. If he chooses to post here, he is free to do so in accordance with the forum rules, pinned at the top of this and every other forum for all to read. If he doesn't, he doesn't. But if you believe I am going to add my name to those here who wish to kiss his hind end in some hope of bringing him back, you are mistaken.

  23. I have not heard anything one way or another. If fact, I'll have to look to see what sort of deadline to make an appeal exists.
  24. That's the million dollar question. From what I read the waiver which was requested has nothing to do with whether Coach Harrison and the PAISD administration signed the PAPF without incident. The waiver was from the eligibility requirement which is stated in Rule 403 (f), which states that a student is eligible for competition: f) is a resident of the member school district (See Section 442), and a resident of the attendance zone in which the member school being attended is situated: (1) or has been continuously enrolled in and regularly attending the school for at least the previous calendar year if his or her parents do not reside within the school district’s attendance zone; see (5) (B) below for exception. Note: A student who has changed schools for athletic purposes may be declared ineligible for more than one calendar year. See Section 443 (f) (3). For students placed on a waiting list for admittance to an open enrollment charter school that is a member school, the earlier of the first day of enrollment or the first day of school for the school year following the date of application begins the time frame for compliance with the exception noted in this section... So what I infer (rightly or wrongly) is that the DEC can rule that a player has not transferred for athletic purposes, yet still rule him ineligible due to failure to comply with residency requirements. Did the DEC make such a ruling? Absent an appeal of the DEC's decision of the forfeit to the State Executive Committee and a resulting full hearing, you and I will probably never know the answer to that question.
  25. Well, I know that when I got word of the denial of the waiver that I still did not change either Nederland or Livingston's standings or season results and the State ruling regarding the Katy/Manvel playoff game did enter into that decision. However, the result today came as no surprise as that ruling last year was an anomoly even for Katy, who not only was removed from the baseball playoffs in the incident that ECBucFan noted, but also pulled from their buses on the way to a football state championship game a few years back. Also, remember that the decision today to compel the forfeit was not at the state level but at the district level. And if this message board is indicative of one thing, it is that, protests of district unity aside, there is not a whole lot of love lost amongst the schools in 22-5A.
