  1. Unexplained Lightening Strike Disrupts Football Scrimmage in Friendswood!!!
  2. The Mayor of South Vidor is currrently enjoying a well deserved retirement out on a lake near you. I expect to see him very soon with guns blazing about his beloved Pirates.....or the Whitney Wildcats. As to other Vidor folk, that might be my fault. I could have sworn that I put up a Vidor/Galena Park scrimmage thread, but when I looked this morning, it was no where to be found.
  3. bd, I completely agree with waiting and seeing. Anybody who is ready to bury their school's team, or for that matter hand them a trophy, strictly based on what happened yesterday is being a little too much of a chicken little (or conversely way too boastful) for my blood. That being said, that has never stopped many Nederland folk, even in years where struggle was expected, until this year.
  4. Sorry, folks I thought I had put this one up. Did anybody go last night?
  5. What has also been very seldom over the years is that Nederland fans having so little to say about the upcoming season. Heck, even negative comments would still indicate excitement about the team. Did the football following die in Nederland when Larry Neumann retired?
  6. Coach Babin was quite happy with what he saw out of the passing game yesterday....at least from the No. 1 O.
  7. And it was obvious as well, there are plays that worked for the Tigers that, had this been an actual game, Coach Smith would have gone back to time and again,
  8. You see this scrimmage is a prime example of how a coach views these events differently from the fans here. Coach Babin, going into this game, didn't set out a game plan for Silsbee. There were things that he had seen at practice that he wanted to further test under a game situation. Sure, they keep track of who gets in the end zone more and I don't know any coach that wants to be on the short end of that count, scrimmage or otherwise. But Coach Babin certainly saw what he needed to see today.
  9. Final tally, Silsbee scored 5 times (2 from 1st team, 3 from 2nd team), Lumberton 2 (1 from 1st team, 2 from 2nd team)
  10. In the varsity portion that I saw, I recall that Silsbee scored 4 times and that Lumberton did not score. I left before it was complete. BTW, they had the Silsbee kicker kick some. Special teams will not be an achilles heel for the Tigers this year!
