Congrats to Zach and his parents ( Gordon and Shelley ) on this fine accomplishment ! I remember Zach when he was an infant and then before he hit his growth spurt playing on the Hurricanes with my son, Zach Gough. Gordon was an assistant boys basketball coach at Vidor High School for me in 1998-1999, along with Brian English. AND ALL three of us have a son named Zach !!!!

Super sad to hear this. He coached me my junior and senior years at New Caney. Prayers to the family.

I played against his New Caney teams that had Jamie on them. He was a good coach and an even  better man.

Former Nederland Bulldog Basketball Coach Jim Weaver ( early '80s to mid '90s ) passed away this morning in the Austin area due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease. Big Jim was the proud father of Jamie, who played his senior year at Nederland for his dad, and later played at the University of Houston. Coach Weaver was a basketball man who made the Bulldog Classic a great tournament. He was also Brian English's  ( current Bulldog head man ) coach at Nederland. He will be sadly missed by the basketball community.
He is also survived by his wife, Jan and daughter, Kelli.

Anybody remember Zach Gough - a former athlete at Groves Middle School who moved away to Flower Mound ( near Dallas ) in the eighth grade ? He finished his football career at Flower Mound Marcus High School, where as a senior his team finished 10-2 and lost in the second round of the 6A Division II playoffs. Zach made second team all-district as a safety where he finished with three interceptions, one of which he returned 30 yards for a touchdown. He also had one fumble recovery. He also was selected as defensive player of the week for his team twice. Furthermore, he was nominated for WFAA Player of the Week during Week 8 of the season. Finally, he was named to the Honorable Mention Academic All-State Football Team. Way to go Zach !!! From your proud father, David.
