Class 6A Division I Semifinals Prosper (13-1) vs. Duncanville (14-0) 4 p.m. Saturday, Ford Stadium, Dallas Prosper will need to find something extra in its reserve against a Duncanville team which has reached the Class 6A Division I state championship game three times since 2018. The Panthers have played only one close game this season, and that was last week’s 28-21 win over Westfield. Duncanville beat Bryan (74-13), Wylie (41-0) and The Woodlands (35-3) prior to ousting Westfield. Duncanville will be looking to return to the Division I state title game for a second straight season after falling to North Shore, 17-10, in last year’s championship game. Duncanville also lost state title games to North Shore in 2018 and 2019. Prosper has won 10 consecutive games, including playoff wins over Plano (28-3), South Grand Prairie (38-26). North Crowley (35-21) and Lewisville (24-13). The Eagles’ only loss this year was against its District 5-6A rival — unbeaten Class 6A Division II state semifinalist Denton Guyer (23-6) on Sept. 13. The winner plays North Shore or Austin Westlake for the state title. North Shore (14-0) vs. Austin Westlake (14-0) 3 p.m. Saturday, Rice Stadium, Houston It’s hard to fathom it getting any better than this in the world of high school football playoffs. Winner of 54 consecutive games, Austin Westlake will have a chance for a fourth state title in as many years if it can get past a North Shore team seeking its fifth state crown since 2015. Last year, Westlake captured the Class 6A Division II crown, downing Denton Guyer, 40-21, while North Shore held off Duncanville, 17-10, in the Class 6A Division I title game. The last time Westlake suffered a defeat was Oct. 11, 2019, when it fell to rival Austin Lake Travis, 26-25. The Chaparrals have won each of their playoff games this year by no less than 31 points, including a 47-7 victory over San Antonio Brennan last week. North Shore — which manhandled Atascocita, 38-7, last week — has won 27 consecutive games and 73 of its last 76. The Mustangs captured Class 6A state titles in 2015 (against Westlake, 21-14, in overtime) along with crowns in 2018, 2019 and 2021, beating Duncanville each time. North Shore also lost to Westlake, 24-21, in the 2020 Class 6A Division I state semifinals. The winner plays Prosper or Duncanville for the state championship next week. Class 6A Division II Semifinals Denton Guyer (14-0) vs. DeSoto (12-2) 2 p.m., Saturday, Ford Center, Frisco Denton Guyer has done nothing but coast to impressive victories in each of its outings this fall. Among the Wildcats’ victims are district rival Prosper, a Class 6A Division 1 state semifinalist, which Guyer upended, 23-6. The Wildcats also coasted past perennial Class 5A power Aledo, 44-14. Guyer popped Southlake Carroll, 45-21, last week while DeSoto was even more convincing in a 60-24 thrashing of Killeen Harker Heights. DeSoto’s only losses this year are to Duncanville, 41-17, in a District 11-6A game on Oct. 28, and to nationally ranked St. Frances Academy (Md.) by a 41-7 score. Among DeSoto’s notable victories is a 42-23 triumph of Class 5A state semifinalist Dallas South Oak Cliff. DeSoto captured the Class 6A Division II state title in 2016, defeating Cibolo Steele, 38-29. Guyer won state titles at the Class 4A Division I level in 2012 and 2013. The winner will play Katy or Austin Vandegrift next week in the state championship game. Katy (14-0) vs. Austin Vandegrift (13-1) 1 p.m., Saturday, Alamodome, San Antonio Nine-time state champion Katy looks to enhance its storied history when the unbeaten Tigers battle talented Austin Vandegrift. The perennial power Tigers will try to reach a state championship game for the 16th time since 1994. Katy pulled away from C.E. King in the second half last week for a 56-34 win and were fueled by the running of Seth Davis, who scored six touchdowns and rushed for 241 yards. Katy has played two close games this season, but those came in Week 2 and 3 when the Tigers defeated Atascocita, 35-28, and Tompkins, 14-13. Katy’s most recent titles surfaced in 2020 (51-14 vs. Cedar Hill) and 2015 (34-7 vs. Lake Travis). The Tigers, who lost to Westlake, 45-14, last year in the Class 6A Division II state semifinals, have won 53 of their last 56 games. Vandegrift has won 13 consecutive games and defeated Dripping Springs, 27-24, last week after losing to the Tigers, 23-20, in the season opener. The Vipers stopped Dripping Springs on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line with 1:47 left in the fourth quarter last week to hang on for the victory. Vandegrift has now reached the state semifinals for the second time in school history after losing to Temple, 76-35, in the 2014 state semis. The winner takes on Denton Guyer or DeSoto in the state championship game next week. Big Sandy Harmony (36) vs Newton (22) - FINAL
KF89 replied to purpleeagle's topic in High School Football
Harmony continues surprising postseason run with win in Class 3A Division II Regional Semifinals By Buck Ringgold-SBLIVE Harmony started the season dropping its first four football games. Now, the Eagles need one more win to make it to the final four in Class 3A Division II. Behind a stellar performance from junior quarterback Boston Seahorn, Harmony has kept its season going after outlasting West Rusk, 38-35, in the 3A Division II Region III semifinals Friday afternoon at Pine Tree’s Pirate Stadium. “(Harmony coach Jeremy Jenkins) said, just stick with it,” Seahorn said of the Eagles starting out 0-4. “No one ever did believe we were not going to the playoffs and not make it to the fourth round, but we believed it, mostly due to Coach Jenkins telling us that we should believe.” The Eagles (8-5) are now moving on to next week’s regional championship game, where they will face Newton, which held off Daingerfield, 16-12, in its regional semifinal on Friday night. Not a bad position to be in for Jenkins’ first season at the helm of the Eagles. And the play of Seahorn is a big reason why. Seahorn helped engineer an offense that accumulated 438 yards of total offense and 24 first downs. He was responsible for 355 of that, completing 14-of-19 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns while adding 167 rushing yards on 33 carries and a TD. “The offense really morphed probably about a month ago; I started running him a lot, and our starting running back got hurt, too, and he’s out, so I started running (Seahorn) a lot and man, we didn’t know he was this tough and he’s powerful, too,” Jenkins said. “Once we started running him is when we really took off. He’s just all heart; he never comes off the field on defense, either, and he’s our punter. All heart.” Seahorn and the Eagles also weren’t fazed after being stopped on fourth down in their own territory early in the second half with a 24-14 lead. That led to West Rusk scoring a TD two plays later, cutting Harmony’s lead to three. But the Eagles had an answer. They marched 73 yards in 15 plays, taking 8:25 off the clock, which ended when junior Joe Morris took a jet sweep in from 7 yards out, as Harmony regained a 10-point advantage, 31-21, with 1:55 left in the third. On that pivotal drive, Seahorn had seven runs and was 3-of-4 passing. The Eagles also completed two fourth downs, the latter a 10-yard keeper by Seahorn down to the Raiders’ 7-yard line. “I’m telling you, that’s what we do,” Jenkins said. “We had five total possessions in the whole game last week and we scored a touchdown on every drive when there were 16, 14, 12, 11 (plays). “That’s what we do; we’re not real fast, and so we’ve got to control the ball, control the clock and use our advantages.” Harmony then forced a three-and-out, highlighted by a sack from linebacker Braxton Baker. The Eagles got the ball back after a punt and moved 65 yards in six plays, capped by Seahorn’s third TD pass, a 20-yard strike to receiver Tyson Jenkins, extending the lead to 38-21 with 8:41 left. “I’m going to be honest; they just trust in me and I just try to make them make sure they always trust me, so I just do whatever the coaches tell me to do,” Seahorn said. Seahorn had his first TD pass on the Eagles’ opening drive, a 12-yarder to Will Young to tie it at 7-all after West Rusk scored on its initial series. Later in the first quarter, Seahorn took a keeper 59 yards to the house to give Harmony its first lead of the day. West Rusk (10-3) answered three plays later on a 61-yard TD run from Tate Winings, tying the score at 14-all. But on the second play of the second quarter, Seahorn connected with Jenkins from 30 yards out, putting the Eagles back in front, 21-14. Harmony then extended it to 10 points, 24-14, on a 24-yard field goal from Tucker Tittle with 3:44 left in the opening half. Tyson Jenkins caught five passes for 97 yards, and Young hauled in six receptions for 70 yards. The Eagles also forced the game’s only turnover with less than four minutes to go, a fumble which was recovered by Harmony’s Jake Shannon. West Rusk senior quarterback Andon Mata completed 15-of-25 passes for 189 yards and four TDs. Two of those went to senior Jimmie Harper, including a 35-yard pass on the game’s final play. Mata also hooked up with senior Geremiah Smith from 55 yards out on the game’s fourth play from scrimmage, and a 31-yard TD early in the second half which got West Rusk within three, 24-21. In addition, Mata had 73 of the Raiders’ 98 yards on the ground. After starting the season with a losing streak, Harmony now prepares to continue a winning streak in the postseason, with a regional title at stake next week. “At the beginning of two-a-days, (Jeremy Jenkins) told us that his goal was to win the region, so we’re just trying to live up to that goal,” Seahorn said. “We stick through it, we fight through it thick and thin. We believe in each other and it’s got us this far, and we’re going to keep doing that.” -

North Shore (13-0) vs. Atascocita (11-2) Region III-6A Division I 7 p.m., Friday, Randall Reed Stadium-Jon Poorman, Staff writer The highly-anticipated rematch has arrived. North Shore and Atascocita have been on a collision course since their regular-season meeting in District 21-6A action. The Mustangs won that game, 16-13, despite turning the ball over four times. North Shore is 6-2 against the Eagles since 2016, including five straight victories. The Mustangs earned a 44-20 triumph over Atascocita in the regional championship last season. North Shore has been stout on defense all season, and the unit surrendered an average of 153.6 yards per contest in the playoffs against Dobie, Dickinson and Cinco Ranch. The offense, meanwhile, is putting up 465 yards per outing. Rashaad Johnson had a huge game last week during a 49-21 victory over Cinco Ranch, rushing for 214 yards and two touchdowns. He has 18 rushing touchdowns for the season. Atascocita’s defense is holding opponents just under 200 yards per game during the playoffs. The offense is humming along, just like it has all season, producing 483.3 yards per outing. Quarterback Zion Brown and running back Tory Blaylock combined for 557 yards of total offense last week against Ridge Point. CALPREPS.COM Projection Neutral Field-[2022] North Shore-31 (58%),[2022] Atascocita-28 (42%) Duncanville (12-0) vs. Westfield (12-1) Region II-6A Division I 3 p.m., Saturday, Birkelbach Field-Jon Poorman, Staff writer Westfield passed a tough test against Waxahachie last Saturday, earning a 10-7 victory as senior quarterback P.J. Hatter connected with Dajohn Palomo for the go-ahead 57-yard touchdown pass with 2:59 remaining. The 10 points scored by Westfield in that game were by far a season-low. The Mustangs averaged 55 points over their previous 12 contests. Westfield is riding a 10-game winning streak since suffering its only loss of the season against North Shore and is back in the regional title game for the first time since 2019. Hatter has been a major part of that success, accounting for 3,374 total yards and 52 touchdowns. Westfield was eliminated from the 2020 playoffs by Duncanville in the most recent meeting between the programs. That was a 56-0 loss for the Mustangs against a Panthers squad that lost to Southlake Carroll in the state semifinals. This year’s Duncanville team is ranked No. 8 in the country by USA Today and has outscored its opponents 558-114. The Panthers have been dominant in the playoffs with a margin of 150-16. That included a 35-3 victory against The Woodlands last week. CALPREPS.COM Projection-Neutral Field-[2022] Duncanville- 41 (88%), [2022] Westfield- 21 (12%) Katy (13-0) vs. C.E. King (9-4) Region III-6A Division II 7 p.m., Friday, NRG Stadium-Jon Poorman, Staff writer Katy has reached the regional championship game for the third consecutive season and is making its eighth appearance over the past decade. The Tigers have been dominant in the playoffs thus far, beating Clements, Memorial and Summer Creek by a combined score of 156-28. Senior running back Seth Davis is just 15 yards from recording his second consecutive 2,000-yard season. He is averaging 10.8 yards per carry and has scored 26 touchdowns. Fellow senior Dallas Glass is also enjoying a standout campaign, rushing for 1,264 yards and 22 scores. The Tigers have rushed for more than 4,500 yards altogether this season. C.E. King also likes to run the ball, and they, too, are quite good at it. Senior running back Keith Willis piled up 198 yards and three touchdowns during a 38-21 victory over Hightower last week. He has rushed for 547 yards and 12 touchdowns in the playoffs alone and has 1,488 yards and 31 scores for the season. C.E. King is playing in the fourth round for the first time in program history. The Panthers are 0-1 against Katy after losing 41-24 against the Tigers in the regional semifinals last season. CALPREPS.COM Projection-Neutral Field-[2022] Katy-38 (86%), [2022] C. E. King-22 (14%) Fort Bend Marshall (12-1) vs. PNG (11-2) Region III-5A Division II7 p.m., Friday, Galena Park ISD Stadium-Jon Poorman, Staff writer Fort Bend Marshall opened a lot of eyes last week with a 55-18 dismantling of a previously undefeated Lake Creek team. Senior quarterback Jordon Davis was outstanding in that contest, completing 20-of-21 passes for 325 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 115 yards and two scores. Davis has accounted for 3,208 yards of total offense and 43 touchdowns this year. The Buffs have won 11 consecutive games since falling to Crosby in overtime in the second week of the season and have outscored their opponents 554-94. That streak includes a 35-14 victory in District 9-5A action against Port Neches-Groves on Sept. 24. Marshall jumped out to a 21-0 lead in that game and never looked back. The Buffs are 4-0 against PNG since 2018 and knocked the Indians out of the playoffs in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Now they have a chance to do that again under the bright lights of Galena Park ISD Stadium. Since its loss to Marshall, PNG has rattled off nine consecutive victories, including a 38-28 triumph against Brenham last week. The Indians are hoping to break through to the state semifinals for the first time since 1999. Columbus (12-1) vs. Franklin (13-0) Region III-3A Division I 7 p.m., Friday, Tomball ISD Stadium-Jon Poorman, Staff writer Columbus was tested in the first round of the playoffs against Lorena before pulling out a 24-21 victory. It’s been smooth sailing for the Cardinals since then, however, with blowout wins against Diboll and Cameron Yoe. Columbus has won five consecutive games since suffering its only loss of the season against Hitchcock. The Cardinals have outscored their opponents 543-156 this season and are playing for a regional championship for the third time since 2019. That was the last time the program broke through to the state semifinals as well. Columbus will certainly be tested this week against a Franklin team averaging nearly 50 points per game. The Lions won the Class 3A Division II state championship last season with a 16-0 record and are riding a 29-game winning streak. Franklin has been dominant in the playoffs, beating Hallettsville, Anahuac and Hitchcock by a combined score of 118-32. The Lions are playing in the regional championship for the third consecutive season and are making their sixth appearance since 2012. I just posted a score projection from Calpreps on this game, to keep people on this site instead of going to other sites. It's just a post on what the expert computer analytics football guys had on the outcome of the game. Different posters have been posting predictions from Calpreps on setxsports forums for years & you are the 1st person I have ever seen in 12 years get their feelings hurt over it. Calm down, find you a safe place to go, nothing offensive towards any team was stated or any forum rules were broken that i am aware of.
