Montgomery is just a big play team. They will have more big plays than sustained drives. Going to have to play all 48 minutes.

What’s crazy about this District is that, while Nederland has the inside track for the 1 seed, they could also still end up with the 4 seed. And there are 4 teams that could still get the 2 seed. Exciting final 2 weeks.

I’d start with the 1st Newton TD.

Yes, the backup Huntsville QB is athletic and he will be a good player in the coming years. But he is a Freshman. So, it’s the decision making that is the wildcard. Huntsville coaches will have to figure out how to set him up for success.

Nederland can eliminate Lake Creek by losing this game. They still win the district by beating Montgomery. Sounds like a Win Win, right? The Hornets backs are against the wall and they have to win this game or they are likely eliminated. So, I expect the Hornets defense will keep them in the game. The Hornets starting QB went out last week with an ankle/foot injury and it didn’t look too promising to me. The offense will struggle with the Freshman backup QB. I have to lean with Nederland.

I do not like the way the tiebreaker reverts back to H2H. It’s the same tiebreaker that Huntsville lost out on a few years ago. Logically to me, whoever is 2nd on positive points gets the next spot. Huntsville will likely be on the wrong end of this again. Yes, they still control their destiny, but without their QB, I don’t see them beating Nederland.

As of now, yes. But this district is crazy. Very hard to predict anything. 2 more big games next week should help clear the fog.
