I agree. Some of the ones on the B team now may just be late bloomers and by the time they are seniors could be the studs. But if they don't play then how can they get better? Through 20 something years of coaching I have seen it happen a number of times.

Moving a varsity player to jv because they failed is teaching the kid that there are ways to get around the system. It sends the wrong message to that kid and the rest of the team. It also takes playing time away from a jv kid, so you are sending that kid the wrong message. I personally think a coach should send a statement to the other players by not letting the kid that failed back on the team that year. Do that a time or two and kids would make sure they kept their grades up if they wanted to play. Same thing with discipline issues. Set a standard for your players and stick with it. Once you let a superstar get by with it, you lose all credibility and things will slowly get worse.

It's rarely about the players development and learning life lessons now a days. It seems as if everyone is trying to prove that they can coach by trying to win at any cost, not considering anything else. They preach team but most will leave their team in a heart beat for a better situation. It's hard for kids to buy into somethings when they see somethings are just not right. Hmm, JMO

I am a graduate of PNG and played football and baseball for them. I am old school and believe in what Joe Paterno said when asked about why he never change the style of their uniforms. He said " we don't need to look all snazzy and glamorous to come out here and kick your arse ". Sorry I am old school and believe tradition does not change. That is what tradition is. Look at my name and figure it out.

They could play in diapers and tank tops for all I care. Just win games and beat Nederland!

PNG is purple and white. Quit trying to bring the grey and black into the color scheme. I think it looks like crap. Quit trying to act like Oregon and bring in colors that are not a part of our TRADITION!!!!!!

Congratulations to both of these coaches. They were well liked by me and many players and fans.  I wish the well in their new jobs.

Hopefully Silsbee can find a way to make this interesting.

Just asking, why does College Station have graduation Friday, when there is no seniors?

In an age where it is hard to get much press for our locals schools through media, I applaud Gary Stelly and the work he does for the Orange area schools. Orange area businesses and people are what keeps a station like KOGT on the air, He does more to promote all activities in the Orange area athletic or not than anyone else. I live in Beaumont and wish I could get his signal cause there is nothing like local owned media. 

I would just like to tell the Senior class at BC thanks for four wonderful years. You guys played some great baseball, made your community proud and made some good memories. BC has a great baseball tradition and y'all just kept it going. Hopefully y'all left an impression on how to go about your business and be able to pass it on to the up and coming players. This class was able to accomplish a lot of achievements. It always felt like y'all were more than just teammates but y'all were buddies. Baseball is a great game because all the memories you make and the buddies that are buddies for life. All of the Seniors have a bright future ahead of them.Best wishes to you all!
 
I personally will miss watching some of my favorite kids play baseball. Calling or texting with Rake 1 to talk about the upcoming game or what the plans were for before/after the game. I coached a lot of these kids and will say they are just as good of kids as they are baseball players. An end to a great chapter of my life.

Great playoff series between 2 very evenly matched teams. I was very impressed with the pitching staff from Huffman, really like how they work quick. BC pitched well enough to win most games but just never got going offensively, hit a few balls really well but happened to be right at people. I guess that's why they say "Baseball is a beautiful cruel game", sometimes they fall and sometimes they don't. Tip of the cap to Huffman for finding ways to score when they were not hitting well either, found a way to make it happen. Good Luck next round.
 
To all the BC players, and especially the Seniors, it was a great ride watching you this season and I enjoyed every minute. Proud of the entire program.

So much for just congratulating Silsbee on a good job. Nelson and Porter have done a good job. This may be one of the most talented groups to come through Silsbee. Good luck to them the rest of the way.

Why not celebrate what the players and Coaches are doing? Why after 2-3 years is it still so important to bash the former Coach?????

I think we need to praise the Silsbee Coaching Staff that much more for having to deal with selfish parents like CATS80. Coaching had nothing to do with going to state last year with no D1 talent. Coaching had nothing to do with beating the potential #1 pick in the draft. Coaching had nothing to do with beating #4 team in the state with another kid who will be picked in the first 10 rounds. CATS80 drove all these kids all over the USA (Merica!!) taught them all this baseball and then screamed strategy from the stands these last few weeks so those idiot coaches knew what to do.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion, that's what makes this place great.

Should be a fun series, as should Huffman/BC.
All four of these teams are very well coached, playing their best ball of the season and finding ways to win.
At this point in the game, you are doing your team a disservice if you think any of the teams left don't deserve to be there or got lucky or whatever other term you want to put on it.
This is the absolute best time of the season and I can promise you that all four teams will leave it all on the field.
Can't wait to see who is left standing after Saturday.

I would think the Silsbee/Columbia match up would be more interesting. I think BC would still beat Sweeny and Kountze still beat Luling

I remember that team. My son was on Port Neches LL team that played BC. They crushed us while Shugart threw a no-hitter. BC will be loaded for years to come. Great program.
