  1. Not a hater, I actually like Crosby. But, didn't BH beat Crosby? Didn't Crosby beat Manvel? That is not a high level deduction, as far as I am concerned. OBTW, and isn't Crosby in Off-Season now?
  2. Didn't call anyone an idiot. I said, "IF you think this way then....." The UIL is not in the money making business. They use revenue generated by certain SPORTS to run all the other events that they host on a yearly basis. I just can't stand when people get on a message board and call out the UIL. They do more for ALL extracurricular activities in Texas than any organization of their kind.
  3. Yep, and it actually produces a legitimate Champion. Sunnyvale won their District Championship, they play Gilmer (4th place) in the first round. We will see, but may the best TEAM win.
  4. You are DEAD wrong. UIL is the best governing body in any State for athletics. The UIL does more for high school athletics in the state of Texas than any group in any other state. It is the best run organization of its kind. Yes, they generate money, but that money goes to pay the salaries of the GREAT people they have running that organization and to support all of the other (non-revenue generating) Extracurricular Events, like Band Competitions, One-Act-Play and many, many other Academic Competitions. If you think the UIL is in this to make money you are an idiot. They use football and basketball to fund the organization so they can put on Top Notch Events for all High School kids,
  5. I'm definitely not saying one way is better, or right. To each his own. I'm just tired of listening to the griping and complaining about Allen and their "ONE BIG SCHOOL." I'm basically saying get over it, because other places could have the same scenario, with a one school district, but choose not too. It is really all about choices. It's kinda like people who complain about Alabama dominating College Football. If you don't like it, then get better and beat them.
  6. Then Plano started adding High Schools and watered down their talent. I bet if they had to do it over again, Plano would think long and hard about opening up East and West.
  7. It is all about choices. Allen ISD chooses to have one school and the people who live there choose to send their kids to school there. There are plenty of options very close by, so it is definitely a choice. Beaumont recently had a choice to make and they decided to have two schools, could have easily said it is in our best interest to only have one school in our district, but they chose differently. Baytown has a choice recently and their leaders decided to maintain a 3 school system. It is all about choices, we all have them.
  8. And the REAL truth of the matter is, if School Districts in south Texas did it right, it would actually be an advantage to travel. If the schools playing in the State Championship games went up a day in advance, and stayed overnight, it would be to their advantage. Go up a day early, have walk through's at the STAR in Frisco, have position and group and team meetings. Watch extra film. Go to a movie to relax, have controlled meals and be monitored at bed check to make sure everybody is getting the proper nutrition , hydration and rest. If they did this, they would be better prepared for the game than their "home field" opponents.
  9. Playing a State Championship game in Austin in the pooring rain and freezing cold is what SUCKS!!! There are only 3 places in Texas that State Championship games should be played and AT&T is by far the BEST of the three. Ask the kids where they would rather play, ask the coaches. NRG is terrible. The experience is not even close. Say what you want to about Jerry Jones, but he cares a whole lot more about High School football than anybody associated with Houston or NRG.
  10. L-Train you need to polish up those reading comprehension skills. LOL Just giving you a hard time, noting personal.
  11. The last time I checked, the goal was to win a State Championship. The Coaches job is to put kids in position for long term success and noT be short sighted. You don't show your whole offense in Non-District for a reason. You don't show all of your Blitz packages early in the year for a reason. You don't run trick plays to win games during the preseason. Losing a game that better prepares you for success in the playoffs is a NO BRAINIER.
  12. Yes, but don't try, just do it. Rest starters and play back ups.
  13. I think you have made this argument for years, but we won't go there. It is more than deserved and will only make them better.
  14. I think he was trying to say that Vidor has very similar kids/athletes to Nederland and PNG. He, and rightly so, is crediting those 57 wins to the Program that has been established in Nederland and the tradition of success that you and PNG have.
  15. Jasper or WOS will make the Regional finals, and probably win it. Which would set up a Semifinal game vs Region 4, which they will probably win. Which will probably lead to a State Championship match up with Pleasant Grove.
  16. Dayton if it's Shepherd? Splendora if it's Huntington?
  17. They put new stands on the "old" visitors side that are bigger than the ones in the Texas Bob picture? I'm guessing they didn't put a new press box on the "new" Home side because under ADA Law, they would have had to put in an elevator.
  18. Looked to me like Huntington did a god job of taking what the Defense gave them. Center seemed to have much better athletes, Center QB did not have a real good night.
  19. As with all leaders, the things that make you good are also your biggest pitfall. You can't run kids off, numbers are a big thing in schools the size of Vidor, especially when you are competing against the PNG and Nederlands of the world. You can't run your best athletes off and be competitive either. I know that no coach will be beholden to a kid, but there is a fine line and a balance between being a hard a _ _ or a dumb a _ _ or simply being a jack a _ _.
  20. Way too much respect for each other. Not near enough trash talking!!!
  21. I agree with everything you said. Depth is a major issue in Vidor. But the real question, is why is depth such a problem? What are the participation numbers like in Vidor? I know participation in football is down everywhere, but why is Vidor hit so hard? Jeff has had a lot of success in Vidor, but is his style of play (mainly offense) causing the numbers to be low? Is his style of coaching causing the numbers to be low? Just curious and definitely not throwing stones at Vidor or Coach.
