  1. Sometimes you are a better coach of a sport that you weren't quite as talented in because you had to work harder at being good and actually found more ways to compete than on just talent alone. Not saying this is the case with Joubert, just trying to make a point. Kountze could get a really good football coach, even without the AD title and money, but it will have to be a Coordinator looking for an opportunity to get his head coaching career started. Now, if he comes in and does a good job and gets things going in the right direction, he will be hard to keep without the AD title and money.
  2. Worst 6A job posting EVER. But, it is a perfect posting if you already know who you want to hire and you are trying to keep quality applicants away. Whole lot easier to justify a questionable hire if the competition is slim and none.

  4. New turf, new scoreboard, new coach, and a new offense....... And then you woke up. Weather it was a DREAM or a NIGHTMARE is open for interpretation.
  5. That is the BEST way to do it. And, the RIGHT way to do it. However, SETX schools are seemingly very slow to pull the trigger. Just curious why?
  6. Horrible news, so tragic. Prayers to all affected and especially to the family.
  7. Sometimes you win BECAUSE of coaching. Sometimes you have to win IN SPITE of coaching.
  8. I've always been curious why SETX is so slow to pull the trigger on replacing Head Football Coaches. I'm sure there are at least half a dozen Schools that know they are not bringing back their HFC and yet no action has been taken yet. I think informing a coach as early as possible is a much more humane way to go about the process. Rather than waiting until jobs start to fill up.
  9. There needs to be an emphasis placed on developing QB's and improving the passing game.
  10. What did Robinson do that caused such an uproar? And if he is not good enough to be the Head Coach then how is he a good enough employee to be an Assistant AD?
  11. Offsetting unsportsmanlike penalties that were post score, so dead ball penalties that had no impact on the play. I think.
  12. The illegal batting penalty does not carryover to the free kick. The only way the illegal batting penalty would be enforced is if he would have batted the ball back into the field of play to avoid the safety.
  13. He needs to deep snap on punts, because the 2 safeties and the points following the free kicks are what got Huntsville back into the game and keep them in the game.
  14. No, actually Brock is very talented and also very strong and physical.
  15. Actually, aptitude is defined as natural ability to do something. Strength is not doing something, strength is acquired by doing something. But thanks for the English lesson. I'm pretty sure my SAT score was higher than yours. But, maybe not. You don't strike me as an Ivy League kinda guy though.
  16. And strength has what to do with "natural aptitude or skill"? Strength may enhance talent, but it is NOT talent.
  17. Yes, WOS has played for 4 in a row. But, nobody else has even played for 3. That was what was being discussed. The Senior's at WOS have been a part of a State Championship Game run all 3 years they have been in high school, up to this point (looking for #4).
  18. Only team in the State to play for the last 3 State Championships right?
  19. Just so we are clear, you are telling me it is easier to develop talent (skills) than it is strength?
  20. IMO, strength is a lot easier to develop than talent (skills). You are obviously a coach and a lot smarter about these things than us mere mortals. But as far as I am concerned, and where this conversation started, strength does not equal talent. Center is a more talent rich school that Liberty.
  21. Don't know why you are throwing shade, but to me this is not personal. Yes, some kids are naturally stronger than other, it is genetics. But that is not talent, IMO. But typically, strength is developed through hard work in the weight room and a mental decision to commit to the weight room. Where as talent, even though it can be enhanced and even developed, is something kids just have.
  22. Some kids are inherently talented, and from what I have seen, Center has more than their far share of talented kids.
  23. Talent is a skill set. Strength is a mind set. Both can be taught or "coached" but the skill set is more inherent than the mid set.
  24. And by commitment, I am referring to everybody in the program, from the head coach to the assistants to the players. Heck, even the managers need to lift!!!
  25. It takes ZERO talent to be STRONG. All it takes to become strong is a commitment to hard work in the weight room.
