Bad week... Trying to stay at the top.. Hey Scooter, whats going on with you? Waiting around the back for everybody to fade late? Or do you have a good stretch run? :D
He better go 15-0 and have everyone bomb since these are the last pick'ems. Next week will be a state tourney bracket challenge. -

Silsbee was the only team that could beat them. Sealy could pose a problem for them as well with all that size, but I like HJ's chances.
The size Sealy has is no different then the size that Cleveland has.
Sealy is a little bigger overall, but I agree that the two are comparable.

I just don't see where people are disrespecting Nederland. Is picking Ball to win not showing respect to Nederland? I can see if folks were making claims that Nederland has "no chance" or will get "beat down", but I haven't seen these remarks. I totally respect what Coach English and the Bulldogs have accomplished, not only this season but last year as well. But if I am being labeled as "disrespectful" or "showing no respect" because I pick Ball to win by 4 points or less over Nederland, then I don't know what to say about that. ::)

Looking over the rosters, Mason has two players '6"1, 1 player '6"0, the rest '5"10 or smaller. Evadale has a '6"7, two '6"4's, and two guards in the '6"2-'6"3 range. This will definitely be a case of Evadale wanting to use it's height advantage inside versus Mason's ability to shoot outside. Mason doesn't press much and play a slower more deliberate style, keeping the scores in the range of the mid 40's to mid 50's. There last game was a 38-33 win over #5 ranked Falls City. Interesting to see which team will be able to impose their will in this one.
where did evadale get all this height from.. They must slide over from Silsbee ;D
Nope. They are all home grown Rebels. ;D
It's funny you say that because there were many an HJ fan back in 2008 stating the best team lost in the regional final to Silsbee. One was your son-in-law. ;)
I remember that - I also remember some of the Silsbee folks making that very same statement after the Jasper loss. Is it safe to assume that you totally agree that the best teams are still playing?
I remember that as well. I was one of those Tiger fans. ;) I do not agree. Sometimes the better team does not win in 1 game situations. I thought that HJ was the better team in 2008, Silsbee the better team in 2009.
No, Cleveland and Silsbee were the BEST BASKETBALL TEAMS IN THE REGION. The fact that HJ beat Cleveland or that Silsbee was upset by Sealy doesn't change that fact. The reason that HJ was an underdog to make it to Austin was because Cleveland and Silsbee were in their way. Those two teams are no longer in the way, and although HJ has a VERY tough opponent tomorrow, I'd much rather see them play Mexia than Silsbee or Cleveland again. Two of the reasons that Nederland was an underdog to make it to Austin were Ball and LaMarque. Those two teams are STILL in the way of Nederland, meaning Nederland is STILL an underdog. Yes, they've had a nice run, but they still have to beat probably the two best teams they've played all year to get to state. It has nothing to do with pedigree. It has everything to do with the remaining opponents in their way.
Very well stated.
any word on who BlueDove will be picking as his replacement???
I am hearing that mammagotjuice will be the area's first woman head boys basketball coach. ;) Assistants will be Penny Hardaway and Walter Yates Sr., with consulting from Greg Wise of Houston Yates.

Per HoopInsider: "According to sources close to Hamshire-Fannett ISD, Colby Richards will not be retained as head basketball coach. He will remain with the school district." I have followed up on this with a phone call and it is confirmed.

Congratulations to Coach English and the Nederland team. He has done a great job over there and the HJ fans will be pulling for them!
HJ is having a great season, no doubt. THE top team in the area...come on! Silsbee beat them twice, Nederland, Central, and LC-M(?) also beat them. They are a solid team, but not better than Silsbee or Nederland (regardless the fact that Silsbee is already out-they beat them twice!)
Abe, you are probably right but I am betting they are more improved over the past 3 weeks than anyone else in this area.
I'm NOT going to argue with that! After their win last night, I'm on board...Unlike AAW and Soulja NOT being on board w/Nederland. Come on guys...what's it going to take???
Everyone is pulling for Nederland, but they are still going to be underdogs the rest of the year. Now that Cleveland and Silsbee are gone, HJ is actually a favorite to get to state.
R U sure about that? Wouldnt it be logical to think that perhaps Sealy is now the favorite by virtue of beating a team that went 2-0 against HJ?
Don't sleep on Mexia! ;D
HJ is just too good! I don't think this game will be close. HJ 84 Mexia 63
I think HJ wins this one too. (I am pulling for the Hawks). But, if you are giving 20+, I'll take Mexia for another grand. ;D (of course, what do you have to lose, you haven't paid the first grand yet) ::)

Sometimes its advantageous to be lightly regarded. HJ has been told they were going to lose both of thes last two games convincingly.
and they also have been told that they were going to win these last two games. ;)

**HARDIN-JEFFERSON vs. MEXIA Broadcast/Mexia advances**
One thing you don't have to worry about HJ doing is sleeping on anyone. They may very well get beat but it won't be because they were not prepared and felt challenged.
I totally agree with that. My comment was not pointed at the players or coaches of HJ, just maybe a few fans. ;) The "don't sleep on Mexia" is an inside joke from Mexia. ;) ;D -

They really only have 2 players over 6 foot, but are quick and athletic. It appears they do not have the depth of Silsbee, which is a good thing. Should be a really good game!!!!
Don't sleep on Mexia! ;D
I am sure it would please you to see Mexia beat the Hawks!!! ;D ;D
That's where you are wrong. I want HJ in Austin repping 21-3A and keep the streak alive of 21-3A teams in Austin. I certainly do not wish for Mexia to win this game. Yes, I am good friends with a coach there, but I have more and just as close friends(at least I think I do ;)) at HJ. -

If Silsbee can play with Ball, Nederland can too. Plus, Nederland has the size to match up with Ball. I think the key is Archie for Ball. He is the one that killed Silsbee, not Petteway or Evans (Petteway only had 8 points against Silsbee). Archie scored 27, going 13-14 from free throw line. I got Ball winning, but a very close one, by 4.
