When you stay gone from the site for months on end, things happen. I expect when you take your hiatus again thru basketball and baseball season, I will be passing you. Kind of expect more from a mod than to be around for just football season. ;) -
Did any of Silsbee's players play AAU this summer?
Yes.
Well then, BH is going to practice "Better" then Central!! ;D
I have no problem with someone stating that a team "looked better, played better, or out performed the other team" in scrimmages. One could even state that a team dominated the other or a team stunk it up and looked terrible. But it is still not a win or a loss.

If you think that Scrimmages should be counted as wins/losses, then why not keep score and count it on the records for ever after school practice and every 2 a day practice? Do you get where I'm going with this? It's a PRACTICE, with the only difference is between 2 teams. Nondistrict games are actuall games played with real officials with real game rules.
i ask again then why keep score. Dayton does have officials for its scrimmages and play with a running game clock and olay real game conditions except kick off and punt return. I promise you when dayton and nederland scrimmage neither coach will want to have fewer points on the board at the end. I used to love coaching tee ball they didnt keeo scire because they said the kids were to young but every parent would know the score.
I understand keeping a clock during some of these "game type" scrimmages, but no need to keep score on any scoreboard, it doesn't count. Also, these scrimmages are as much a practice for the officials as it is for the teams.
If you have 2 quarterbacks, that usually means you don't have any.
Part right. I say if you are consistently playing two different QB's, then you have none. I have seen two very good QB's on the same team though, just one got all the playing time.
I'd say it is definitely more of a DFW mag considering all 3 kids on the cover are from the Metroplex. Just sayin'.
;) :D

R. Mitchell is gonna have a field day with that secondary. even the coaches cant mess that up, even in a scrimmage.
Nobody "wins" scrimmages. ::)
Tell that to Longview and West Brook. ;)
I'll tell that to any and every team in the state of Texas! Until I see "w's and l's" in the win-loss column for those scrimmages and they be included in a teams overall record for the season and the UIL starts keeping that as a certified record, then they are just "glorified" practices and have no bearing on a win or loss.
then why keep score. Also since high school has playoffs I feel the same way about non district games.
The difference is, UIL and all other football historians count non-district games to a school's and coaches overall record. No mention in the record archives of scrimmage "wins and losses".
Very, very silly!!! That's plain ridiculous!
I agree.
hmmmm, the first issue happened recently with a local 5A school, the latter happened few years ago with a mid-field celebration to add to the sillyness from what i heard from ppl that were there in Longview "beating" Lufkin.
Do you not agree that those situations are silly?

Gatesville has 14 starters returning, they will finish 3rd behind LH and BW.
you do know they're other teams in they district right?? i know what im saying. ;)
Yes, I know that Lampasas and Burnet have larger enrollments than Brownwood in 8-3A, but I don't see either of them making the playoffs. It will be Liberty Hill, Brownwood and Gatesville, therefore sending Brownwood to DI.

Word is that current boys head basketball coach at West Hardin, Kully Hoffpauir, is the front runner for the Spurger job. The Spurger ISD board will meet Thursday to make a decision. -
Who from buna??
I am assuming it is Buna's post player Tyler Edwards. He started as a freshman last season for Buna and I was impressed with this young man. He has definite potential to be one of the best players in our area over the next 3 seasons. Tyler will definitely be "da man" at Buna the next three seasons.
