I am waiting on a phone call back from the Vidor superintendent. We have to get the okay from him. Coach Mathews has given us the okay but have to clear it with sup.
 2. Garrett Drake is the only true two way starter for Silsbee. A couple of others get spot duty but mostly play one side of the ball.
 3.
The time has changed from 6 to 1?
Yes. The game time has changed from 6pm to now a 1pm kickoff. Very happy because this will allow me to attend this game and have enough time to get over to Turner Stadium in Humble to broadcast Silsbee's game against Huffman.
 4.
If silsbee can't pass the ball effectively or protect the QB they won't win this game. Huffman's run D is the strength of this team. They held the best rushing attack in the area (coldspring) to limited yards, and held Gilbert to negative yards through the 2nd quarter. Huffman's O didn't give the D much help in the game, and you can't give a team like coldspring that many chances. Huffman has 22.5 sacks this season, so silsbee better be able to protect the passer once they have to start passing. Townley has had a bit of a pic problem averages 1 a game, but idt that will be a big issue in this game. One thing I have noticed is that it seems like silsbee has multiple players playing both ways, including thier QB, Huffman dosent. The Huffman O isn't as potent.and dosent have the quick strike capabilities of last year, but it is plenty good. They will spread you out and carry sustained drives down the field. Will this tire out silsbee's two way players? Has silsbee played a team this year that didn't have multiple two way players? I think Huffman wins this game. With the QB issues silsbee has I just don't think they will be able to move the ball effectively. Huffman 35 silsbee 14
FYI, Silsbee has one player that plays both ways on a regular basis.
 5. I just don't like the fact that in some cases, all a team has to do is win 1 district game to qualify for the playoffs. A team with a losing district record should not be going to the playoffs!!! Now a losing overall record is not so bad. Example: Say Silsbee went 0-5 in non-district but then went 3-2 in district, qualifying for the playoffs. That would put them at 3-7 overall. I would have no problem with any team qualifying under those circumstances. I think the UIL should consider cutting back on the amount of teams qualifying or make some of these 4,5, and 6 team districts bigger so that it would eliminate the "one district win" teams from making the playoffs. 3 out of 4, 3 out of 5, 4 out of 5, and 4 out of 6 team districts qualifying is a joke! A team should be at least .500 in district to qualify. EARN IT!!!!
 6. Hmmm..... the fact a team has won 7 of last 9 games (78% win ) doesn't need any slanting. That's just pure fact. How is any of what I stated in the regards to these facts misleading? I am strictly talking head to head.
2 hail Mary's & 4 Our Fathers...gotta love Parochial Ball...
I'd reply but you are not worth the effort
I don't fully understand your smirky comment.  That was funny...any way you dice it up.  I was not demeaning anyone...just employing a little humor.
SmashMouth, you need to understand, some of these Kelly folk are pretty sensitive.  ;)
 10. Well, if I am not broadcasting a Silsbee football playoff game or some other football playoff game, I will be there to broadcast all of the games at the Fred Williams Classic.
 11.
I wouldn't be surprised if the top number in 2A went up enough for Buna to stay in this classification.  Guess we'll find out in February.
Buna turned in 477. No way the top number for 2A will jump that much. Buna will be 3A next year.
 12.
How are they looking for this upcoming season? Deep playoff run?
IMO, best team in Southeast Texas. Now, will that translate to success and a deep playoff run? Well, that remains to be seen. Soulja, you know what I am talking about. ;)
 13.
Honestly Silsbee's secondary is a big concern. Huffman throws the ball 8 out of 10 plays. Can they handle that match up. I'm sure Silsbee's offense can get something going but they better rotate the QB's.
As a team, Silsbee has 17 interceptions on the season. That is almost 2 a game for that secondary. Not too shabby.
 14. My schedule: Thursday: broadcasting the Crosby/Vidor game at PUS Friday: broadcasting the Deer Park/WB game at Da Butch Saturday: broadcasting the Huffman/Silsbee game at Turner Stadium in Humble
 15. I killed a 6-pack of tall boys Friday. Area: king suite of a LaQuinta hotel. Time: late night, sometime between 10:30 and 2am. Used: An Igloo ice chest with a Miller Lite koozy.
 16.
What's going on with the Quarterback situation in Silsbee? Anyone know what's up with Reed and Drake.
Reed is injured, was on the sidelines in street clothes Friday night at HF. Not sure what the extent of his injury is. Drake for now is the starting QB with Turk the backup. Probably see the JV QB Gore added to the varsity roster for the playoffs along with a few other JV players. I am not ruling out that Reed could practice this week and end up starting Saturday, but for now, it's Drake.
 17.

That would be news to me....and many others.  Heck, TAPPS has even put them into their brackets: [Hidden Content] Yeah, I know.  It doesn't look real official, but it is what they use.
i saw that..which confused me..every team from our district and almost every team from dallas district r in? and we play the 6th place team from that district? this is weird stuff
That's TAPPS for ya. Really a joke.
 18.
Who is Smithville playing in 3A D II?  That would be the next game for WOS/Cleveland.
Smithville is playing Columbus.
 19.

I've only seen Vidor lose to Nederland in the 1st round of the playoffs in 2000 at Lamar.  This is the playoffs and it is high school.  Any team can win.  Just how the cookie crumbles. And how could anyone think Lamar University is in Orange and be from this side of Texas?  Really?
I have never lived in the Beaumont area. Never been to Lamar. Never spent time in Beaumont. As Houston and Humble are much closer... that's how. @Husker. Crosby is not Twins or bust. TD pass was to Rahim Lamarque (that's misspelled), and our 2nd string back/Wide out Jacoby Scott is an absolute game changer. Not to mention our QB won't be playing both ways and thus if this gets into a shootout that's going to hurt Vidor.  p.s. We are not Ozen. Ozen is not us. And we haven't been one dimensional since Districts started, it's not like its a new trend. we pass the ball and we run it very effectively. Also Ask BH Austin Walter is a weapon in the passing game as well as the running game. Vidor has not seen a back this year with the quickness Austin Walter has. Now does that mean that we are gonna walk all over vidor, absolutely not. I'm telling you theirs not a back in the Area that is better than this kid. And his Brother is a heck of a football player to, so its a pick your poison moment when they run the option.
Vidor has seen many a quick and fast back this season. Jones for Ozen, Sezar of LCM, Benjamin of Nederland, ect, ect. These guys have just as much speed and quickness as Walter of Crosby has. (Sezar of LCM finished 7th in state in 4A 100 meters last year)

 22.
relative just got home from a Houston Christian school function and said..their headmaster? said Kelly was out of the playoffs so..does anybody know for sure, 100% positive?
Not to our knowledge. Info given to us has Kelly playing Dallas Bishop Dunne on Saturday at Kelly.
 23.
I dont think too many Tiger or Hawk fans need to reply.
Personally, I am looking forward to the matchups Silsbee will have in the three tourneys they play in. (YMBL, Nederland and Sherman tourneys). Silsbee vs. HJ..... eh, been there, done that. ::) Besides, Silsbee has won 7 of the last 9 games against HJ, starting to get too one-sided to get excited about that matchup. ;) ;D
