1.
Do players who play for Jim Boeheim not have the talent level to play man defense? They absolutely COULD play man, but they don't bc of his 'system'. Seems to be working pretty well for him. ;)
I thought we were talking about high school basketball. Being able to recruit to a big time DI school like Syracuse will bring in loads of talent that can play any style. That is not the case with small high schools.
 2. I think it's talent level that determines, but I am no coach. ;) I have seen several local 1A and 2A schools over the years with same coach play a zone for a couple of years then play predominantly man a few years because he had the players to do so. When you get into higher classifications, you can play a system because the level of talent is pretty constant but can afford to play man because of the numbers. But, I have seen smaller schools stick with a system and be successful.
 3. Anyone have an update on this game tonight? Last score I saw was EC up 4-0 in the 3rd.
 4. A few more basketball and football scholarship offers for HJ athletes over the years: Shannon Holmes      basketball Jeff Burke                basketball Jamey Harrison        basketball Clay Davis                basketball CC Tyler                  basketball Mark Holmes          basketball Garrett Gustafson    basketball Rocky Rocquemore  basketball Sam Williams            basketball Michael Warren        football Jake Roby                football Ty Roby                  football Clint Walters            football Aaron Walters          football Tim Anderson          football Ryan Skinner          football Wes Eaves              football Desmond Porter      football Blake West            football
 5.
Aggie, I will say its about time, how long of a 'dry spell' was there tho, for yrs n yrs there were only a few other than baseball, Kenyon Spears was the one I was speaking of helping at Lamar after playing college ball, one of those you listed was my coach in HS and I'm 60 so forgive me for not going back as you did. There has also been a few boys go to the next level playing golf. I stand by my statement on baseball having the most by FAR and recieving the least. BTW HJs field does have lights and most probally they are still laying on the ground as they were in 95 96,97,98, the field they play on does but its the PONY field, go look behind the school at the HJs field then report back. Its the same field and probabally in the same shape as when Gene Isabel played at HJ in the 60s...Baseball has for YRS been treated like a redheaded stepchild...
The Gene Isabell I am speaking of graduated in '91 and played on the '91 state championship team. He is a doctor now at Beaumont Bone and Joint. In regards to the baseball field, I was referring to the field that HJ has been playing on the last several years.
 6. Post updates here of tonight's non-district battle.
 7. There are lights at HJ's baseball field. Just in the last 6 years in basketball, Shawn Pruddome, Jarvis Benard, Ryan Donahoe, and Duane Durely received scholarships that I know of. In football, you had Joe Persohn sign with Lamar last year. Trey Burrell signed a football scholarship a few years ago. I am sure there are more recently. As for the dozen I can name that received football or basketball scholarships over the years, well here are a few more other than the 6 I already named: Gene Isabell      basketball Kenyon Spears  basketball Duane Joubert    football David Martel      football Gary Martel        football That's just a few that I know of, but it is much more than the "1 or 2" that you stated EVER received an offer to play in college. I know there are many more over the years but I will let a Hardin-Jefferson person post that info.

 9.
Depends on the year.  D1 does have a shorter path to the championship, but you still can run into tough teams on both paths.
DI in Class 3A is the only shorter route and that will end next year when 3A will have 4 teams make playoffs like 5A and 4A.
 10.
No one that I know of AND maybe 1(?) in football and possibly 2 in basketball EVER recieved a offer to play any level of college ball. I do know I pizzed him and the coaches when he played bb only BUT I did it in Jr High, we're going thru the same with my nephew and basketball at HJ. Looking back my son will say it was for the best and it all payed off. Ask what happens to the 'gate fees' on basketball n football, you know they pack the house for basketball
You clearly have not kept up with Hardin-Jefferson sports. HJ has had at least 3 football and 4 basketball scholly's in the last few years. Over the entire school history, Hardin-Jefferson has had several players get scholarships to play football and basketball at the collegiate level. I can think of at least a dozen players from HJ who played college ball.
