I agree. That team was hands down better than last year's team. Also the team he had with Zach Dumas was better than last year's.

No need to lock just yet. Just need to make sure any posts made are about the game or related. No more political posts.

Scott Barrett is an excellent coach.

Also, some pretty dang good teams that Silsbee has played so far. 4A #14 Hardin Jefferson 94-62 5A # 10 Crosby 90-50 5A # 8 PA Memorial 65-48

Silsbee started out last year 0-3, losing 9 of their first 14 games. Silsbee ended up losing a total of 13 games last year, yet still managed to get #1 seed in district and make regional tourney. I realize this is a different team, much younger team. But with HJ and HF out of the district for two years, I can see this group winning district again and making a few rounds in playoffs. They will still probably lose 10 or more games again.

So obviously your philosophy is a coach can never take credit but should always get the blame. Got it.

This. You can coach a player up all during practice and still get blamed for a player's mistake.

I think it's how one plays defense. For example: Back in 1993 Silsbee played Nederland in a non district game. Silsbee running back Jay McGuire ran for a school record 454 yards rushing with 6 total TD's. He had over 600 all purpose yards in the game. Nederland QB Spurlock passed for over 350 yards in the game. Silsbee won the game, 48-44. Several weeks later, Silsbee played Nederland in the playoffs. Silsbee played the game without their star RB McGuire because he suffered a season ending injury the week before. Silsbee decided to change their defensive philosophy of zone coverage to man coverage and blitzed just about every down. The result, 10 sacks of the QB and two INT's that led to a 34-7 Silsbee win. It's not the offenses IMO, it's how you play defense.

Thanks

I was catching flack from some folks (including some Memorial fans) for having the Titans so high in my rankings early in the season. Have had them #2 behind North Shore for several weeks now.

Agreed. I had Carthage winning 42-14.

My point was Cardinal making a very general statement about any team with a player scoring 50% or more of it's points is not a good team. If he had stated a team in particular, then maybe I could understand. He still stated that Silsbee was not a good team last year. I disagree.

What was final score?

Early December when he will be back.

Just too quick a turnaround from playing football last night.
