1. They would seem to be the favorite....They are loaded with a ridiculous amount of talent..They dodged a bullet today...They could've easily lost but they found a way to come back and hold on late...
 2. Dallas Skyline holds on to beat The Woodlands 35-31...
 3. Also The Woodlands is up on Dallas Skyline 31-21 late in 3rd qtr...Woodlands defense playing well as they have all year...
 4.
are gilbert and monroe seniors? how about the qb?
Yes, Gilbert and Monroe are both seniors...Scott (QB) is a junior...
 5.
WE beat WOS Basketball in Bi-District really bad last year.  Don't talk smack to us until you win something. I'm sure you would treat us pour Trojans the same if you won.
I guess as a CS fan I don't really see it the same way...Yes we did beat WOS in basketball last year, however, we haven't won anything yet...It was awesome to witness the run to the state title game last year and watch this years team try to get back but until we're able to actually win a state title or two no matter how much I love my trojans and the kids who play for them we simply won't have the skins (so to speak) on the wall that a team like WOS does...All smack talk aside WOS state championships in multiple sports speaks for itself...Has CS had the upperhand the last few years? Yes but fortunes could reverse just as quickly... There was alot of smack talk on both sides but IMO most all WOS posters have been nothing short of gracious and complementary following a hard fought loss...The fact that they're able to do this shows that they've seen the cyclical nature of sports and understand that you win some, lose some... Just enjoy the ride because what the boys from CS have done so far the last 3 years is really special... Very few teams get to enjoy thanksgiving and december highschool football...They're making memories that will literally last a lifetime...
 6.
And WOS- Your band is Loud! Our gator chomps on kickoffs were all out of whack.
Funny you mentioned that because the I mentioned the very same thing to a couple of people sitting close to me...I thought their band was very loud...Heck, I could barely hear our own band during kickoffs..Our gator chomps were definitely messed up...They had us off our game :)
 7.
Coach James Sykes (Cleveland ISD) is not Jerrell Sykes' daddy. I think Coach Sykes is Jerrell's uncle. Jerrell's dad was a great athlete too. I don't think Alfred Scott and Pharnell (sp?) Scott are closely related; however, they may be.
That's correct...James Sykes is Jerrell's uncle...Gerald Sykes is Jerrell's dad and James brother...Gerald is the guy in Coldspring that has run the youth football and basketball leagues for years...James played college ball at Rice and then was drafted by Washington Redskins and ended up being a allstar in the CFL... Not sure about Alfred Scott and James Scott (Pharnell)...I'll have to ask about that...I don't think they are, however, I wouldn't be surprised if they were somehow as it seems as if everyone is related to someone in Coldspring.. :) Colton Monroe is another kid on the team with NFL and CFL ties...His grandfather (the late Jimmy Edwards) was a OU signee out of high school in Oklahoma before transferring out and being a All American at Louisiana Monroe....His grandfather was MVP of CFL (same award Doug Flutie & Warren Moon won) and I believe led the NFC in kickoff return yards one year in late 70's with the Minnesota Vikings.... Then you have Gilbert whose brother is a great player for OSU right now and as I've heard several times is the fastest player on their campus... Those are some of the connections that I know of...Heck there might be a few more that I haven't heard about but it's not bad for a little 3a school out in the woods... ;)
 8. Just got back home...Great game...Great job Trojans...Way to come up with a big game when many (non coldspring fans) were starting to doubt your offense and team as a whole... Also after looking through the pages of this thread I also have to give you WOS fans/posters alot of credit for coming back on here and giving credit to CS for playing a great game and showing good sportsmanship... Congrats to WOS players and coaches on a very good season....You guys have dealt with alot the last year plus with the loss of Reggie Garrett as well as having a different head coach for the first time in a couple of decades...
 9.
I`m  "PLEADING" to THE TROJANS,  Don`t "HOLD", don`t "GET INTO A FIGHT", don`t "BLOCK IN THE BACk"  and don`t do that "ILLEGAL PROCEDURE" thing. (thank you)
Fixed it for ya! ;)
 10.
Sorry, but printing the texts of the articles violate copyright law, so I left the links up.
Sorry about that... I mistakenly thought if I credited the source and provided the link it was ok...
 11. Here are a couple of good articles on Fridays matchup courtesy of The Orange Leader....One has already been previously posted by WOSgrad (on another thread) and I haven't seen the other posted yet... ] [Hidden Content]
 12. I don't think there is many secrets between these two programs...They know each other inside and out...It's going to come down to the jimmys and joes... ;D
 13. Good article...Thanks for posting...Need to put the link in the other thread and give folks something else to read and talk about... ;)
 14. I bet the number may be higher if you go back and look at the preseason AP poll...Not completely sure but it'd be interesting to go back and look...WOS is one school that comes to mind...They were preseason top 10 weren't they?
 15.
we fumbled too much, bad refs, bad coaching, too many penalties
I understand the sentiment, however, a couple of those could very well be valid reasons for a loss....Turnovers as well as penalties are big equalizers...I think it really depends how the game plays out.. I don't believe all penalties and turnovers are created equal....I don't consider a legit holding penalty that takes away a td the same as a personal foul or something stupid that negates a play or takes a team out of good scoring position, etc... I think some fumbles are the results of great defensive effort and others are just simply being careless with the ball...I know it really doesn't make much difference at the end of the day but that's just personally how I tend to look at it... I do agree though that all too often excuses are made instead of crediting the other teams effort and play...
 16.
WE LOST. we lost becouse the coaching staff of this team out smarted  us in a BIG  way
CS might get beat because of lack of execution but I doubt it'll have anything to do with outsmarting Def Cord. Morrison...I've seen plenty of coaches and he's about as detail oriented and focused as they come....He'll have the scheme and game plan in place...He knows WOS too well for them to pull any rabbits out of the hat...It'll just be up to the players to execute it.... Lots of time you can have the right coverage/play called but still not be successful due to someone just being better than you on that play...That's the beauty of the game... It should be a fun chess match to watch...
 17.
so what's the deal here? is this a concerted effort to up the post count on the thread while trying to make it look like there are meaningful points being made? WO-S 13 ColdSpring 24
You tell us,  ;)
 18.
Many teams and fans start off a game against WOS confident and feeling good because of the small numbers of Mustang players on the sidelines. WOS opponents out number WOS players two to one.
Really? What teams are you referring to? The 4A schools you played? Are your numbers really down that much? In 3A there aren't many kids over on the sideline anyway....Unless you've got less than 20 dressed out I doubt many would think anything....I know I wouldn't but I guess maybe others would...
 19. I like the fact that CS is now the underdog (in the minds of many posters) to mighty WOS...I think too many of you are discounting CS solely because they've struggled on offense the last 3 games...If the struggles continue then yes WOS can hang around and win, however, should CS get the kinks worked out I don't think WOS wins...Defense is too good!  Let's be honest, I don't think the offense can do worse (redzone execution wise) and the defense has already proven it's good enough to win even the lowest scoring game... I'm starting to feel better and better about this game each day...The overall sentiment of this thread reminds me of last year in the days leading up to the Kirbyville game...Everyone seemed to be discounting CS left and right...Only after the game did most come around and start giving CS the credit they deserved... Really at this point CS isn't even looking for credit as they've got their eyes firmly on the ultimate goal of a state championship...I guess what I'm saying is I don't think the average CS fan would be shocked if WOS outplayed CS and won, however, I get the feeling that if CS wins many WOS fans would be sitting around trying to figure out just how their team full of great athletes (and all it's history, NFL players, track championships, etc) could get beat by a little one dimensional team from San Jacinto Co...
 20.
The Conroe Football Blog has Coldspring winning by a 72% vote, I didn’t pay any attention to it because there are more local Coldspring fans on that board.
You don't think there might be a few more WOS fans on this board ;)
 21.
I know 12,000 showed up at Sam last year for CS and Athens.
Yep the atmosphere was electric....Athens came out and picked off a CS pass on the first or second play of the game and scored a few plays later...After that CS steamrolled them by about 30 pts....
 22.
We actually had a better passing game earlier in the year than we have now.  I don't know what's happened but it is what it is. We also had a better kicking game earlier in the year.  That kind of changed after the game with Cleveland.  I don't know if it is a knee injury still bothering #75, Greg, or if there is a little trepidation about another late hit.
I agree on both points...
 23.
your passing game isnt beating anyone.
Actually it already has this year....See Huffman and take a look at the only offensive TD in regulation against Bellville...You don't have to throw it all over the field all game for it to be effective...
 24.
Whoa.  Wait a minute.  If WOS only beat BC by 5 then WOS was a 'one long run away from a LOSS rather than a tied game in regulation.
Hmm, interesting, huh?
