1. Anyone who expected CS to pick up where they left off last year was being unrealistic. Lost several great players, playing a much tougher non district schedule, younger/less experienced players filling key roles & playing both ways while doing so. Going to take some time to settle in. Still looks like they are going to come out with a win.
2. TD Coldspring 2nd conv good. 21-13 little over 3 min left in game
3. TD CE King. Extra point no good. Tied up at 13. Less than 7 mins to play
4. CS has probably punted more tonight than they have in about 2-3 years (in a reg season game).
5. I know BC lost alot to graduation but still somewhat surprised by the score. Looks like Newton might be back
6.

Very, very surprising score for anyone who watched Coldspring absolutely dismantle Huntsville a couple weeks ago in both schools first scrimmage. Humble must be really bad or Huntsville improved alot.
IMO, it was both.  Huntsville looked alright, other than the 9 fumbles and no passing 1-3 for 9yds between 4 QB's.  Every time they ran, they got 6-8yds, it really didn't matter.  Now Humble was just awful.....  51yds of total offense.  C'mon man!
Good gracious, that's horrible! Lol
7. And no sooner I say that CS takes one to the house. pat missed. 13-0 Trojans
8. Offense doesn't look as explosive as last year but probably to be expected this early in the year. Especially playing against better competition pre district & breaking in a new backfield.

10.
has 18 starters returning, 15 are seniors and they have replaced the RB's with two faster ones that should put up more yards. Definetly going with CS in this one
I'm not going to say it can't happen because anything is possible but it'll be difficult to expect either new back to put up more yards than Gilbert did either of the last 2 years. Cummings (2010 2500+ yards) Gilbert & Monroe were 3 really, really good high school backs.  Giddens is the fastest player on the team this year. Johnson also has really good speed but what will make him such a good back will be his elusiveness. He'll be a nightmare to tackle in open space. Giddens & Cooper will probably get alot of the tough carries & yards after contact while I see Johnson being more of the homerun threat like Gilbert was last year. If scrimmages are to be believed Soph Alec Dunham might also get some carries if coaching staff trusts him early on against the tough non district schedule. The last thing I'll say is speed wise Gilbert, Cummings, & Monroe wont take a back seat to any current Trojans. If I was a betting man Giddens is the only current Trojan that I would honestly say could line up & beat any of the 3 in a 40. Johnson might be a step slower however his running style & elusiveness will have him looking like the fastest guy on the field. This years group of rb's should be alot of fun to watch as they start to come into their own & establish themselves as Coldsprings next great backfield.
11. The 2012 Trojans take the field tonight. Will be interesting to see what this years team looks like without 3 year starters Gilbert, Monroe, Harrison, & Andries. All 4 were captains and presided over Coldsprings arguably best 3 year run in school history 38-6.  28-3 last 2 years with a State Championship appearance & semi-final run. This years version returns alot of talented players who have played crucial roles the last couple years. Should be fun seeing who steps up into the vacated leadership roles. Should know alot about this years squad early on as they face probably the toughest non district stretch in 3a (all on the road)
12.
That's how Coldspring has been for many years, and they've been successful at doing it. It'll be just fine.
There have only been a couple of players start on both sides of the ball for Coldspring the last 3 years. Monroe did last year (rb & ss) & Gilbert was forced to start in secondary at beginning of playoffs due to FS suffering a year ending injury in last regular season game against Liberty. Everyone else who played on both sides did so only in spot duty when scores got out of hand & starters where out.  The year before during their state championship bid/run to Dallas they a fresh 11 on both sides of the ball & players only played one way except every once in awhile. Bryant (rb,db) did get  quite a few carries early on but as the season progressed Cummings & Gilbert got most of the carries until the score got out of hand. Barbay prefers not to have players play both ways but this year a few key players will have to out of necessity. The entire backfield (Giddens, Johnson @ Cooper) will all be starting on both sides of ball. Douglas plays corner and shouldn't have that tough a time however the other 2 play linebacker & DE/hybrid LB and will be expending lots of energy fighting off blocks, etc. It'll be interesting to see how well they do. The fact that all 3 should share the load will help but it will be different than the last few years.
13. Thanks for the info..I was wanting to get a copy...
14. In Coldspring we barely have a scoreboard, however, when playoffs start we get to light up the ones at places like Turner Field.. :) I've always liked playing a early round game at Turner and now it looks like it just got better...
15. Wow you guys are getting after it and school hasn't even let out for summer yet!  ;)
16.
My son would definitely kill to play at Cowboys Stadium. Figuratively speaking.
I'm one of the fortunate parents that got to watch my son play at Cowboy Stadium in 2010 (and daughter cheer) and I can't tell you how excited everyone in our family was...We had family come in from a couple of different states to watch the game... It was awesome watching him play on that field and seeing him make plays on that huge jumbotron... It was somewhat surreal knowing that the Super Bowl was going to be played on that same field a few weeks later... Almost made it back again this year, losing in semi-finals...Had a 7pt lead about halfway thru the 4th qtr only to give up 2 TD's in the last 8 mins...Everyone was really devastated as it was Jerry's World or bust from the first day of practice in early August... Looking forward to watching my younger boys try to make it there in the future...
17.
It should stay at COWBOYS Stadium!!!  Kids grow up wanting, wishing and hoping to play where the COWBOYS play.  There's just something about that blue star that says, "Texas Football".  No other venue in Texas can top it.
I agree...
18. both on the road which should make both even tougher
19. I know many don't like it staying at Cowboys stadium every year because of travel concerns, concession prices, etc, however, after attending the event at Cowboys stadium in 2010 I can't imagine a better place in Texas to host the event... Having every game played there over a weekend is absolutely awesome for anyone who loves watching HS football at it's highest level... It is a venue that every player in the state dreams about getting a chance to play in...
