Since this is a football related topic I thought it appropriate to put it under this thread. I'm really tired of cancelling games, moving games to another stadium or even worse, playing games like the one we had against Barbers Hill two years in that cattle pen we call a football field. Last night was the perfect example of why we need a new BONEYARD! At the very least, we should have had turf five years ago. I'm hearing that a new high school is in the works at the site of the old Junior High; FEMA is footing most of the bill since those buildings went completely underwater. We should pass a bond to put a new football stadium right next to it on the interstate for everyone to see. Great communities center around their school system and Jeff Mathews has put our football team into the elite category of the area. Wouldn't it be nice for everyone driving through our community to see that? Wouldn't it be great for our kids and the winning attitude they now have. Every year they compete and we need to show we back them. Let's get this done, VIDOR!

Good win for Lumberton.  Tough losing the QB early with the knee injury but they were able to overcome it running a lot of wildcat packages with that load of a RB #23.  Passing game needs a lot of work as they will need to try to stretch the field to keep defenses honest.  Kirbyville had their safety’s 8-9 yards off the ball all night.  Lumberton capitalized on some turnovers which was good to see.  Defense played very well also.

Kirbyville is on the right track.  Very young team with talent.  Only 8 seniors on a team of 26 and a new system.  Their QB has a good arm and showed some poise at times.  They played hard and didn’t give up as I expected.  Coach Jones will have them competitive in district.  Playing this tough non-district schedule will help them.

#23 is really on defense but loves to go out and run it when they let him!

We had three starters out to start the game last week, and lost our running back early in the game, and still kept it close for a half with a pretty good Jasper team.. im just hoping to get back healthy and ready for district.

I think it's going to be a good close game. I just hope that both teams walk away with no injuries.

I’m glad we are playing y’all early this year. We have a more experienced group so that should give us an advantage. But I think playing Jasper and Silsbee will get us pretty prepared for district. I’m hoping for a injury free game, and wish the best of luck to Jasper the rest of the season.

They even let Mason Williams run in a few times in the controlled part with the 2nd string and had some HUGE runs!

Don't really expect anybody to run away with it in this district. Should be wide open race.

It’s a really top-heavy district, attendance-wise. You’ve got Lumberton, Splendora, and Livingston all dropping down for this realignment, and with LCM and having recently dropped down from 5A. Huffman’s enrollment is way up there, too.
It’s also important to notice that despite all of that size, there isn’t a typical powerhouse in the group.
Of course I’m expecting my Cardinals to finish at the top of the District, but fans from pretty much any school in the district  can realistically expect the same. It is truly wide-open at this point.

Hey, guys.  Things have been going great here so far.
I was preparing for bed on Thursday when I got a call of a potential match.  I woke up Saturday with tube which confirmed it was a match.  By Saturday afternoon, it was out!  The doctors are pleased with my progress!
Thanks for the good words and prayer, guys.  They have meant a lot.  Now that I am better, I should be able to be able to update a little more.

    Hi, everyone.  Mrs.Grad here,
Todd is off of the respirator and is now sitting in a chair watching football.  He has been on his computer but he is a bit weak and doesn't yet have the energy to post.  He is on a lot of drugs and he tends to drift off to sleep and then wake up.
I want to thank you all for your prayers.  From what I understand, the record for recovery time for a heart transplant is ten days.  He might make that if he keeps it up.
    God bless all of you.
    Rebecca

Easy draw with HISD and Navasota in the first round. Then, you get Crandall, Carthage, Kilgore and Chapel Hill. Some different kids roaming the turf in that neck of the woods. Good luck

    Report from Todd's wife:
Good morning. This is Todd's wife Rebecca. Todd is going into surgery for his kidney transplant.
Todd is doing fantastic. He was awake and communicating with me (nodding his head, thumbs-up sign, etc.). His condition is as perfect as it can be right now. God bless you all for your prayers. They are working.

Raiders94 reacted to WOSgrad in RIP Blain Padgett
I understand that you are upset and believes the article puts some sort of necessary stain on Blain.  But let me ask you this, did you believe that the toxicology and autopsy results of the sudden and unexplained death of a star college football player who played in, of all places, the fourth largest city in the United States would go unreported by the media altogether?
If so, let me shatter your illusion:

This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Look, I myself have railed on the limits of newsworthiness of any act beyond the football field, good or bad.  And I will confess that many times the target of such railings have been the staff at the Enterprise.  But I think your ire at the Enterprise in this case is a bit misplaced.  First, the idea that if Matt Faye wouldn't have published his article, that the autopsy reports would have been Harris County and the Padgett family's little secret is a foolhardy one.  Second, the explanation of why an otherwise healthy 21 yr old football player died suddenly is indeed a newsworthy story.
The coroner's report, the Enterprise report or the Houston TV station's report do not change the fact that Blain Padgett was a good young man who came from a good family.  Instead of getting upset with the media for reporting it, you should hope, as I do, that authorities and the Padgett family (as they have pledged to do) find how Blain came across this substance so that justice can be done and his death will not have been in vain.
