This fantasy leage is all about luck. Any mouth-breather who can add and subtract has a chance to be in the lead! Someone who's never watched a game in their entire life could win this thing. There's no skill involved at all. Unless... I end up in first after this weekend. If that's the case, then this fanstasy league obviously identifies those who have a keen eye for talent, a superior knowledge of the game, an ability to locate unheralded studs, and the foresight to predict when a top player is about to have a stellar performance! Will the privates have to follow all UIL guidelines? One thing that is not much of an issue in football but greatly affects other sports is coaches participation outside of the season. Currently, a private school coach can work with whoever he wants at any time, but a UIL coach cannot coach any student in grades 7 on up within his school distric in any club sport. That's year-round coaching, which is in no way a level playing field. Another thing these private schools can do is hire whoever they want to coach these teams. I have no problem with any private school joining UIL - as long as they follow UIL rules.

I think he's focusing on his family business a bit more. He's still training several club teams as far as I know. Joe is a great guy and did a heck of a job. I know his players really loved playing for him, too.

And on early departures hurting the upper echelon programs such as Texas and the players you named, Dennis, (other than Florida) what programs have not had to deal with this problem?

Where in my post did I say that A&M was better than UT? Maybe instead of focusing on being so condescending you should work on sentence comprehension. I know that your idea of fun is to belittle others and be pretentious, but seriously, do you think Rick Barnes has fully utilized the talent he has horded during his tenure? Is he just a great recruiter? The Texas games I watched this year seemed like there was no true offense - just get out of Durant's way. It seems that Texas should be in the Sweet 16 4 outta the last 5 years, I mean they're THE (ALL CAPS!!!!!!) University of Texas. Texas is going to win the recruiting battle with any other Texas team probably 70 - 80 % of the time, right? And now Barnes is getting studs from outside of the state, too. It seems like UT teams underacheive during the conference season...

Those I remember: Kelly - Kirby and Hanks WB - Rios and J-Po and maybe another Lumberton - Waldrup, Garza, and Brakin I think Silsbee - Eades Central - Heratio PN-G - Parks, Tallent, and Baque Vidor - Biffle and Smith I'm not positive on these, so if I'm wrong, I'm sorry.

I was wondering the same thing, but then figured that they would have trouble naming an entire team since the Enterprise cover so few games! > They probably have NO IDEA who plays for what team. As far as I know, not many coaches have been contacted for their input either. It's frustrating calling in scores and not seeing them in the Beamont paper. Tom Haliburton at the PA News has done a wonderful job of covering local soccer over the years, though. True story: A few years, ago a day before their second round playoff game, a local coach was contacted by the Enterprise and asked for his season schedule, and the reporter wanted some quotes on how the coach thought his season was going to be. Apparently the reporter didn't realize the season had been going on for the past THREE MONTHS! I guess I should name an All-Star Sports Writers team without reading any of the papers now!

I know I'm wasting my time in this discussion with you, jcb, since you use lines like "hands down," "without a doubt," and "obviously" it's clear that you have an "Either I'm right, or you're wrong" attitude but... 1. How many 20 4A games did you see this year? 2. You claim that our district is weak - which in some regards it was as evidenced by the play-offs, but couldn't the same be argued for your district in which you have to finish 2nd out of 3 teams to make the play-offs? Before you say I'm bashing Kelly's schedule, reread that last sentence and see that it says argued - I'm not making that claim, but it could be argued. 3. This is going to be hard, but remove yourself from the Kelly program and imagine other players playing alongside these galacticos on the Kelly team. Don't you think players such as Brackin or Granato, Greenway or Biffle, Clarke or Washburn would look much better surrounded by so many talented players, instead of the lowly scrubs that they had to work with? I know it's all Kelly all the time with you, but there really are good players outside of the blue and gold plaid.

The proposal going to the UIL from TASCO is to expand the number of districts per region from 8 to 16. This will allow the 3A's to form their own districts in some parts of the state and should help with overcrowding problem throughout the state. However, I have NO IDEA what the play-off bracket will look like, and I don't know which teams will go where. I got confirmation that HF will try and start a boys and girls soccer program to compete as a JV next year. Nothing official from BC, though... But to speculate a little, the local 3A might be: Silsbee HJ WO-S BC HF Jasper (maybe?) And the 4A would probably look like it does in all the other sports: LCM Port Neches Nederland Ozen Central Vidor Lumberton (Has Dayton heard of "soccer" yet?)
