  1. Look for the topic of a 3A classification to be a major point of discussion at the TASCO meetings at the state tournament this weekend. The number of schools in 4A is just going to be too big as many districts are trying to "cap" their newly built schools with 4A numbers to avoid becoming a "mega-school". The 3A's keep jumping on board, too. Locally, BC- probably, and HF - just rumored. Other 3A's in our Region rumored to be getting soccer in the next couple of years are Giddings, Needville, and Seally. It sure does help that a couple of 3A's (Palestine and Hidalgo) have crashed the party at the state tournament. Don't look for any change next year, but re-alignment in 2008 for the '09 & '10 season will obviously be different, and I would look to crowning a 3A Champion in the '11 season. Who knows...
  2. Don't forget roster changes are due by 4:00 on the 11th since there is a Thursday game from now on. And for some reason the standings have changed. I won't gripe too much since I have now jumped into 2nd place! ;D I also have a question that I guess will get answered this weekend. Dallas has a game Thursday and then one on Sunday. Does that mean that any player for the Hoops will get stats for two games? Anyway... TV Games this week: FCD v Galaxy - 9:00 ESPN2 KC v DC - 6:30 FSC Chivas v Dynamo - 7:30 HDNet
  3. You're right about watching the games in a different frame of mind, shark. I found myself thinking, "I wonder how cheap that guy is?" during the games this past weekend. Boy, if your captain has a good night, that gives you one heck of a day. But I guess that's how the real game goes too... I wish we could see who is on everybody else's teams, though. This coming up weekend The Dynamo play Chivas USA on HDNet. I watched the HD game this past weekend. HOLY GUACAMOLE!! The picture quality is incredible! If anyone can make it over to Port Arthur Saturday I'll host a watching party. I'll be coming in from the state tournament in Austin, but I should be back in plenty of time for the game. Let me know.
  4. 5. The Dynamo had no answer for Moscera, Gimenez, and the little guy up front, but... This solidifies my hate of the FMF. TWO STINKING PK'S and a goal off a restart in regulation! Pachuca earned ONE goal in the run of play during regulation. If you can't earn your money standing on two feet, maybe you should work in the world's oldest profession. Anyway, good job Dynamo. I hope you have something left for the Galaxy on Sunday!
  6. Much better in the second half! The Pachuca keeper is CLASSLESS! > GO DYNAMO!!
  7. And how many starters did y'all return from last year? I think the '06 Seniors might have been saying something similar to what you're thinking right now. You gotta understand, as long as you're from Vidor, you're gonna play your butt off - that's the Vidor M.O. If you can mix some skill in with that hustle, the Vidor legacy just might live on...
  8. WOW! Pachuca is fast! That being said, a clearly offside goal off of a set piece and a PK is hard to swallow. Houston has NOTHING in the attacking third! How many balls has Mullen kicked to the keeper?! Bring on Paul Daglish and see what he can do. The Orange really miss Ricardo Clark. Kelly Gray has played well, though, I think.
  9. Nederland might be even younger next year compared to this past season. There are only a handful of juniors in the program, and next year's freshman class will be very strong again. Lumberton won't be hurting next year. Who do they get back? I'm not sure, but I think Waldrup, Brackin, Granato, and Poole along with a few others will return next year. I'm not sure which Brackin and Granato, though. They both have brothers in the program, don't they? Vidor had a really strong senior class this past year, but I think they had quite a few underclassmen including a fish or two (maybe?) playing up. And isn't there 10th grade Greenway?
  10. I'll let you know where I live, shark, so you can go ahead and send me that KC ball! The Balla's are righteous! We will not be stopped! ;D TV games this week: DC v Colorado on ABC Saturday at 2:30 Toronto and Chivas on FSC Saturday at 9:30 LA and Houston on Galavision Sunday at 6:00 NY and Columbus on HDNet Saturday at 6:00 It looks like someone else is gonna have to hide the Easter eggs. Daddy is gonna be busy!
  11. SFA, in your post you said How many D1 guys at all can you name in the past 20 years that have come from this area. I can think of only one maybe two. I understand that you are not satisfied with the status of soccer in this area, but the Triangle has sent plenty of kids off to college to play soccer at various levels. I don't know what your angle is to this thread, but the fact that the ENTIRE STATE OF TEXAS has only ONE D1 program just shows you how limited the opportunities to play D1 soccer are.
  12. Here's the TV schedule for the upcoming season, too. [Hidden Content]
  13. Anyone interested in joining a MLS fantasy league, pm me and I'll get you the info. I set up a private league on the MLSnet fantasy site.
  14. You'd be my hero, Newcastle, but...your name is Newcastle. Go Red Devils!!![move][/move] ;D
  15. Ditto what Soccerfan said - to an extent (more on that later). But UIL won't be able to do anything about the district next year since re-alignment won't take place again until the spring of '08 for the '09 season. What's really frustrating for me is a district schedule with zones was set up that would allow all teams to play the teams in their zone twice and the other zone once, thus freeing up enough time for another tournament and another open date. BUT the girls coaches would not agree to it. I hope they are satisfied with the way things went in our 18 game district schedule. Now, as to what soccer14 posted: You are exactly right in that the area kids are not playing good enough competition, but your blame is misguided. My opinion is that the area kids aren't playing good enough competition OUTSIDE of the high school season. How many of you are playing on club teams that rarely play outside the Golden Triangle? Or maybe as far as Baytown? If you don't play competition that challenges you, then you'll never get better. And those that do play, how many of you know of teammates who don't touch a soccer ball from Easter until Thanksgiving? If you want your team to get better, be proactive. Get your buddies off of their tails and go knock around somewhere. Do you think the basketball players at Ozen only play during the high school season? You're only going to be as good as you want to be. The only thing holding you back is you - not time, not money, not facilities.
  16. I was VERY unimpressed with the US game plan. How many balls were lobbed into the box to our lone striker surrounded by 4 defenders?! Put the ball on the carpet and knock the ball around! If the opposition is commiting 5 guys to the middle of the field, then the flanks are wide open. Patience and possession is the way to beat a bunkered team - not long balls and prayers. Oh well. I'm ready for the MLS season to start next weekend!
  17. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz A game with this much diving should have a pool near by. I really can't stand El Pescadito! >
  18. "Interim" Coach Bradley seems to be making all of the right moves so far... [Hidden Content] Come on Sam's Army!
  19. ??? Where's Lumberton?! And PNG?! And LCM?! And where were you when the "apostrophe + s" was taught in your English class to show possession?
  20. The problem with the whole "40 minutes of heck" is that it only lasted for what seemed like 40 minutes...totall. When was the last time Arkansas basketball was relevant? Seems like a lateral - if not downward - move to me. Cherchez d'largent!
  21. I'll try and keep this as nice as I can... :-X Since the local print media only makes it out to two - maybe three - games a year :-\ , they rely on coach's opinions for this. Not all coaches are called, and not all coaches respond, so sometimes the Super Gold team is not a true reflection of the area's best XI. The Super Gold Team from the Beaumont Surprise usually gets the obvious ones on the list, but some years some head scratchers have been on the team, as well.
  22. I've heard the same thing, but I don't know what they would need to do to be "UIL eligible" for next season. If they were play-off eligible, then that would push district 20 4A to 11 teams!
  23. If this turns out to be true, then all A&M coaches should be quaranteened so that the Fran Virus doesn't spread any more!
  24. It's this kind of perfomance that makes me love and hate Donovan all at the same time! Where was this last summer!?!?!? That being said, he was INCREDIBLE! If he continues this, look out world! I think marriage made him grow up a little. Have you seen his wife! Google Bianca Kajlich and you'll see why Landycakes was so eager to leave Leverkusen and return home a few years back.
